I | I know

At this point Namjoon was ready to break the damned door.

Twenty minutes had passed since Namjoon started ringing the doorbell accompanied by alternative shouts. At one point a grandpa from the opposite door had almost whacked his head with his dusty walking stick and it had taken a few dimpled smiles and poised words to get the old man - and the walking stick, to leave.

Namjoon was standing at Jeongguk's door as the result of long hours of debate and discussion led by the other six ex-members of BTS concerning their favourite maknae. They all felt that something was off about him. He hadn't called or answered his phone in weeks. Just last week Taehyung had complained that the maknae hadn't answered his phone, and Jeongguk always answers Taehyung. The last time the six met Jeongguk, he had lost his former shape and precision. His face was deprived of anything happy or serene. They suspected that their brother was growing depressed, his happy facade had broken-he needed help.

Thus Namjoon was sent; he was always the one Jeongguk went to for help and he was only the one for whom Jeongguk let his guard down. Namjoon was seriously hoping that Jeongguk would listen to him and let him take him to a psychologist or counsellor of some sort. He really didn't want to see his loved one so broken.

"Jungkook-ah, if you don't open the door I'll bring Yoongi and Seokjin. You don't wanna face their wrath, Kook," Namjoon finally called out.

That seemed to have done the trick, for the door opened soon after, revealing a disheveled young man whose body didn't reflect who he was two years ago.

He seemed to have lost his former self: his bunny smile didn't make an appearance nor did his enthusiasm to see his beloved hyung.

All of this broke Namjoon's heart. He felt guilty for his own absence and somehow felt responsible for his maknae's condition.

Jeongguk's eyes were hollow, devoid of any emotion, but at the same time showed a mixture of loneliness, anxiety and numbness. He didn't initiate a conversation; there was nothing to be said. Meaningless formal conversations were never necessary between the two. Namjoon knew, he always did.

He let himself into the apartment and maintained the silence. Without breaking the thin ice, Namjoon hugged the younger boy tightly as if he would disappear if he let go.

No words. No accusations nor concerned questions. Just pure love, something that could only be found in the best of families.

The simple act snapped something in Jeongguk. He broke down in his hyung's arms as he remembered the daunting voices that normally filled his head, giving the boy no space to breathe.

But at that moment, the feeling of a familiar secure presence made Jeongguk feel safe.

"Hyung, I said no and that's it. I'm not some broken toy that you can fix. If you could leave before, you can leave now. I have nothing to say to you and I'm sorry you had to see me like that," Jeongguk said curtly. He was currently sitting on the couch opposite to his distressed looking hyung, sipping angrily on his banana milk at the thought that he needed counselling.

He was fine, he thought. He might not have a job at the moment but he didn't need one. He was rich enough to last him a lavish long life. He was blatantly ignoring the loudest of malicious voices that clouded his head on the sunniest of days. He didn't want his hyungs' help, he hated that feeling of dependency, whose absence left a hole in his heart that tore him to pieces.

"Jeongguk-ah," Namjoon called out softly, mind buzzing with different ways to convince Jeongguk. "Maybe you don't need help but please just give it a shot. Everyone goes for therapy these days so that they can live with, you know, more security and self assurance; it's not something bad. Even if you don't need it, please do it for us, so we can feel better about you." Namjoon's eyes were pleading.

"Please, Gguk." Namjoon knew he had done it, Jeongguk did too. Namjoon had played the 'hyungs' card and Jeongguk would never refuse. They both knew he would do anything for his hyungs.

Jeongguk looked defeated and started. "This is only for you guys, not for me. I am perfectly fine," he lied.

Namjoon had done it. Now it was time for step two of mission "Make Jeongguk Better Again" get him to his psychologist the next day.

"Mama, just killed a man

Put a gun against his head

Pulled my trigger, now he's dead

Mama, life had just begun

But now I've gone and thrown it all away

Ma-"

Natasha turned off the radio as Lily exclaimed-"What the hell, Nat! I was listening to it, it's Lily's carpool karaoke."

"Lils, love, I'm sorry for ruining your show, but listen to this: Namjoon was seen outside Kookie's door banging on it this morning. He was seen by some sasaengs. Can you believe it?" Natasha asked from the driver's seat.

Lily ran her hands through her hair agitatedly as she answered. "No, I can't believe it. Those sasaengs just don't give them a break, do they?"

Natasha sighed and turned on the indicator as she turned right and said, "I was talking about Namjoon breaking open Jeongguk's door. I mean, didn't I tell you Jeongguk wasn't being normal?"

"I mean, yeah, I guess. There must be something wrong, but he's still his own person, we shouldn't be judging him or making assumptions."

Natasha laughed. "You're such a psychologist, honey."

Lily huffed and stepped out of the car. "I better be, Nat, it's my job. Anyway bye, I'll try to come by the organization this evening."

"Yeah love, bye. Remind Jackson-oppa to come over with Jinyoung-oppa for dinner tonight," Nat reminded, then yelled, "Have a nice day! I love you honey."

Lily laughed at her best friend's personality as she entered the hospital. She was greeted by her secretary, Aera, as she began to enter her room. "Morning Lily-yah, Boss wants to see you."

Greeting Aera back Lily walked past her door to her boss's office, wondering if she was in some sort of trouble.

"Jackson-ah, did you call for me?"

"Yah! Show me some respect maknae-yah," Jackson yelled teasingly.

"Yes, sunbaenim," Lily mocked as she playfully ruffled Jackson's hair and sat down.

They had been friends since college; they had bonded over their love for the human mind and hatred for Sigmund Freud. Jackson had been a brotherly figure for Lily and Natasha, always caring for them, checking if they had eaten, if they were feeling well, and similar sorts of things.

"Lily, I have something important to tell you," Jackson started as the twenty-five-year-old leaned in and listened attentively.

"From tomorrow, you're going to have a new patient. He is someone that is very important. I trust you to take the case well and help him feel better, okay? He's not just a regular person. No pressure, Lils, but if something happens to him, a lot, and I mean a lot of people will be disheartened."

Lily's curiosity had hiked up as she bombarded Jackson with questions. "Who is he? How old is he? Why did you give me the case and not take it yourself?"

"Whoa, Lily, calm down," Jackson hushed. "First off, this guy's identity is a surprise. Secondly, he's twenty-seven, and finally, I gave you the case because I know you can help him; you're the best person I've got. Plus, if I took the case it would make my Jinyoung jealous " he laughed, trying to ease the mood.

The rest of the day seemed blurry to Lily as she met met with her patients her mind buzzing with the thought of who might be her mystery patient. She tried to focus on her work, but the nagging thoughts of her new case kept pulling her out of it.

Finally, upon returning from a long day at work, Lily excused herself from dinner and retired to her bedroom.

"Oh my God," Lily sighed, lying on her bed as she unconsciously looked at the BTS poster in her bedroom. She lied awake, wondering what this case could entail.
