"And that's how we got Everly"

Nevaeh said with a sigh. She's been explaining to her parents why we're a married couple with a child for an hour now.

Nevaeh's mom left it alone fifty minutes ago. Trying to convince her dad Everly wasn't her secret child was the hardest part of our day.

"Kids let me go make you a snack. Nevaeh leave Everly with your dad. Come one Silas"

I nodded my head and followed her into the kitchen. I passed by very cautiously when I was in front of her dad. I know a small part of him thinks the baby is really mine but I'm forcing Nevaeh to take of her with me.

My grandma would kill me with her knife collection before her dad got me with his bat collection.

Nevaeh placed Everly in her dads arms and walked away. When we were in the kitchen her mom called us over to the stove and pointed to the living room.

I stood there in shock as I saw the most scariest man I've ever seen in my life that has a bat collection paying peek-a-boo with Everly. He was also blowing raspberries making her giggle.

"Nevaeh I told you your dad is soft. He just has a bat collection so he can seem intimidating. Silas you have nothing to be afraid of"

"He can still beat me to death with a bat and make it look like an accident"

She just waved me off and went to prepare our snacks. Ever since I meet him I've been sleeping with one eye open. Especially when I have dreams about Nevaeh.

After the ham and cheese sandwiches were done Myra and Jordan came running down the stairs.

"Man, Nevaeh is still alive. I guess my plans of turning her room into my personal studio has been crushed"

Nevaeh rolled her eyes and took a bite out of her sandwich. I heard Myra tell Jordan that they should probably go get the picture of her off the wall. She already started moving in.

"Where's Everly? I want to teach her how to bite you"

Myra told Nevaeh. Nevaeh just stuck the middle finger at her and got back to eating her food.

"Nevaeh"

Her mom warned from the stove. Her back was facing us. How does she know Nevaeh did something? Myra starting laughing while she stuck the middle finger at Nevaeh.

Nothing. Nothing happened. She didn't get a warning call or anything. Her mom just continued to fix some more sandwiches.

It be like that sometimes.

After we were done with our snack the kids and Nevaeh's mom went upstairs causing Nevaeh and I to be left alone with her dad.

"I want to meet your parents"

He said out of nowhere. At the mention of my parents Nevaeh rubbed my thigh. She gave me a smile and looked back at her dad.

"I don't live with my parents. They left Jordan and I when I was nine"

I watched as his expression change. He sighed and looked down at Everly who was smiling like crazy.

"But my grandparents raised me. You can meet them"

He nodded his head and handed me Everly. For the first time in forever he didn't threaten to kill me with a bat. He just left Nevaeh and I alone.

"So Nevaeh I have a surprise for you"

"I love gifts"

She said as she bounced up and down. I watched as she impatiently waited for her gift.

I dug in my pocket and took out a black box. She thanked me then processed to rip the bow off the top of it. She gasped as she saw what was inside.

"It's beautiful"

She said as she slid it on her finger. She raised it up to light and smiled as she saw the shimmer of the diamonds decorate the room.

"I figured since we're married I'll buy you a ring"

"You know you didn't have to do that right"

She said as she took pictures of the ring. She put her hand next to her face and posed with the ring.

"I know. I just wanted to get you something nice"

"Thank you hubby"

She said as she kissed my cheek. Everly giggled and covered her eyes. I took Everly from her and kissed her cheek.

I didn't notice Nevaeh wasn't next to me until I heard her mom's scream. Everly also screamed but giggled seconds later. I have a feeling she'll going to copying us from now on.

"That ring looks so nice. It almost blinded me when you put it up to the light"

"I know right my husband gave it to me" Nevaeh said with a smile on her face.

"Husband?"

Nevaeh's dad shouted as he came tumbling down the stairs. His body landed with a thud once he reached the bottom of the stairs. He dusted himself off and ran in the kitchen.

"We're married"

She said as she held her hand up to his face. He looked at the ceiling and said a quick prayer.

"Nevaeh you're killing me. I gave him permission to date you not marry you"

"You gave him permission to date me and it's now I'm finding out about it"

"I told Silas not to tell you because I know you're going to take advantage of it. I'm just trying to prevent teen pregnancy"

Nevaeh rolled her eyes and started to play with her ring. She took the Cannon Camera that was on the counter and took pictures of the ring.

I never knew Nevaeh likes things that sparkle.

"So Silas when are you going to reveal your big surprise to Nevaeh"

Her head immediately snapped up in my direction. She put down her camera and focused on me.

"Later today or tomorrow. You think she'll like it"

"She'll love it"

"Hellooooo I'm right here. I can speak for myself". We both looked at her and went back to our conversation.

"I for sure think she'll like it"

Nevaeh huffed and took my baby to the living room with her. Her mom and I laughed as she practically ran to the couch in frustration. She'll have to wait and see what I have got her.

While Nevaeh was on the couch whinning like a little baby her parents and I were talking about Everly and how we'll take care of her.

Since my grandparents haven't seen her yet we all agreed that I'll be taking her home tonight. During school Nevaeh's mom volunteered to take her to work.

Since she's the boss she doesn't have to worry about being fired. She can make Everly in charge of everyone in that office if she wanted to.

"I think it's time for me to go home. My grandma is cooking dinner and she wants us to be there"

Nevaeh slowly handed me Everly with a frown on her face. I kissed her on the cheek and said my goodbye.

"See you tomorrow wifey"

"You too hubby"

"I think I'm going to throw up in my mouth"

Nevaeh's dad said as he ran into the kitchen. Her mom bid all three of us goodbye and went to her overdramatic husband.

"Please take good care of her. I would hate to plan your funeral"

I nodded my head and went over to my car. I made sure Everly was safely in her seat before I went over to the drivers seat.

"Silas you owe me twenty dollars"

I almost had whiplash as I turned back to look at her. I have a toddler to take care of now. I don't have time for this scammer to keep on hustling me.

"Why do I owe you money? I feed you, prove you with hot meals and water, give you shelter and clothe you. You owe me about two million dollars for using up nine years of my money"

"I said you and Nevaeh would be dating by Christmas but instead you guess are married. You actually owe me double"

"I'll throw you out the car if you want"

"I'm telling grandma"

She said as she crossed her arms. She'll forget what I said the moment the smell of food hit her nose.

Once we arrived in front of my house my grandma and grandpa were already standing at the door waiting for us with a smile on their face.

I went in the back seat and took Everly out of her car seat. I tried to find a way to hind her from my grandparents but it didn't work.

Once my grandma saw Everly her mouth hung low and she had anger in her eyes.

She looked at my grandpa and said the words that would end my life.

"Go get my knife collection"
