Nevaeh
"Even though next week is thanksgiving I have homework assignment for you guys. A project to be exact"
The whole class erupted in groans of protest. Next week I only had one job. Eat. Now I have a project to worry about.
"The school has teamed up with The Homeless Children Of America Organization (HCOA) to give kids that has no parents or a permanent place to live a chance to enjoy thanksgiving and Christmas. The kids range from six months old to six years old"
When she said that the whole class got quiet. Everyone seemed more interested in what she was saying rather then focusing on the fact that we have homework over thanksgiving break.
"This will be like your project from last year where you took care of a fake baby but this year we have real kids. Because the kids are real this project is worth fifteen grades. So if you don't take this seriously you'll get fifteen zeros which is thirty F's"
My eyes literally popped out of it's socket. The marking period is almost over and now she decides to give us a major project. If anyone doesn't do it they are bound to fail the whole marking period.
"You are to act like a married couple with your partner. You guys will be one happy family and nothing else. I want the child to have a stable home and parents that likes each other. With that being said I will not be assigning you your partners this time, you can pick your own. You can team up now"
Silas and I immediately looked at each other. He was about to come to me but Emily pushed him back down in his seat. She must've hit her head on a dick If she thinks she's taking Silas from me.
"You are my partner and that's final. We can pick a beautiful baby and raise her or him together. I will be expecting a wedding ring on my finger by tomorrow"
Emily said. I can just imagine the crazy smile that's on her face. Silas sighed and pushed her away from him. He made his way to my table and sat down.
Since there was no one left that willingly wanted to team up with Emily she had to be a single mom. Mark was even hiding from her so she wouldn't pick him. He ended up with the quiet girl in the class though.
"Since you all have your partners I'll like for you guys to meet in here during lunch and pick out your baby. This project will last from thanksgiving all the way to a day after Christmas but you'll offically get your babies after school. You have to bring your babies to school too. I wish you all the best of luck"
"So who's going to tell my parents were married with a kid?"
"Not it"
We both said at the same time. Even though Silas whispered it I still heard him. I refuse to get murdered by my parents. I don't want fifteen zeros either.
But if Silas tell them nothing will happen to him. They won't kill Silas since he's not their child.
"We'll figure out what to tell them later. Right now I want talk about how we'll take care of the baby. Do you want a girl or a boy?"
Silas whispered. I had to lean in close to him for me to even figure out what he means. I'm staring to miss wasting paper on writing notes with him. He be whispering way too low.
"It might be a typical answer but I really want a girl"
"It's a good thing you said a girl because I want a little princess. Jordan is evil"
For the rest of the class we discussed our plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since we have a child we have to take her into consideration.
We decided to pick a one or two year old since we both love babies.
I already agreed to go shopping for clothes while Silas said he would buy the diapers, wipes, and baby formula.
He also said he's doing something a little extra. When I asked him what it was he just smiled at me.
Once the bell rung we all ran to lunch. I picked up a random plate of food so Silas and I can be the first to pick out our baby. I want to make sure I don't get a child that bites.
Silas and I literally devoured our food once we sat down. Fries and pizza sauce was all over the table by the time we were done. While Silas was trying to drink his juice but it dropped down his shirt causing him to shiver.
Nevertheless we both threw away our plates and ran back to class. Once we got there the kids were already lined up on the wall while the infants and toddler were in strollers or car seats.
"Well Silas and Nevaeh you're the first ones to come. Pick which child you would like to raise"
We nodded our heads and went on our journey to find the baby that perfectly fits us.
It was about twenty mintues later and we still didn't find the baby that we liked. By then the whole class was here. We almost gave up but we heard a little giggle coming from the corner of the room.
Silas and I smile at each other and walked towards the giggle. I have a good feeling about this baby. A gasp escape my mouth as I saw her.
She had on a sunflower headband with a sunflower dress with a yellow bracelet on her wrist. Unlike the other kids she had a white fur covered stroller rather than a regular one.
"She's perfect"
I whispered. I reached out to touch her stomach. She immediately erupted in fits of laughter.
"Great choice"
One of the workers from HCOA said. I didn't even realize she was standing next to me. I was hypnotized by my new child.
"What's her name?"
"Everly Rose"
At the mention of her name she started giggling and clapping her hands. I took her out of her chair and brought her close to me. She smells like honey and brown sugar.
"She's been through a lot. We found her a couple months ago beaten and bruised in an ally. It took her a months to get used to human contact. It still amazes me how she never fails to smile and laugh. But I must warn you, she's very boujee for a one year old"
The worker said laughing at the end. That explains why she has a fur stroller and not a regular one. I looked at Silas and we knew exactly what to do.
"We'll take her"
The lady, who's name I found out is Amber, took us to the office so we can fill out the paper work. It took us the whole day but we got it done. Everly is ours.
Silas refuse to let me hold Everly. I told him that Emily was behind him so he could give me to her but he didn't care. I tried to get her from Silas again but he almost bit me.
"That's my baby girl"
I sighed and gave up. There's no way he's going to give her up. He didn't give her up twenty mintues ago so why would he give her up now.
"You want to go to my house and show Everly to my parents"
"Your dad might kill me but sure"
We decided that I'll pick up Myra and Jordan today. Silas put Everly's car seat in his car and followed us to my house.
Once we got in front of my house I couldn't get out of my car. My dad isn't exactly supportive of me having a child. Even though it's not my own.
I watched as Jordan and Myra happily ran inside without a care in the world. Must be nice.
"Come on sunshine you'll be alright. I promise"
I nodded my head and got out the car. Silas handed me Everly on our way inside. I kissed her cheek causing her to grab my face. She kissed my nose then pulled away.
"Mommy, daddy I'm home"
I said as I closed the door behind me. Both Silas and I took a seat on the couch and waited for my parents to come out.
My mom's eyes popped out of her head as she stared at Everly. My dad on the other hand was too focused on his phone to even notice her.
"Honey, she has a baby"
My dad's head immediately snapped up at the mention of a baby. He threw his phone on the couch and walked closer to us to make sure it was a real baby.
"Myra!!!!"
"Yes daddy?"
"Go get my 'Nevaeh has a secret child' bat"
