Introduction

Welcome to Spotlight!

This command game focuses on Pokémon contests, and becoming the greatest coordinator ever known!

The current top coordinator is an elusive Pokémon trainer known as Charlotte. She is a masked Pokémon coordinator who is best known for her jaw-dropping performances alongside her Altaria and Froslass. Many coordinators look up to her skill and grace. However, some coordinators believes that she has taken the spotlight for far too long. Will you be the trainer that overtakes her throne?

Alright, so let's get in to the basics!

PICKING YOUR STARTER

Like every Pokémon game, you get to pick your starter Pokémon! Well... sort of? It's going to be a first-come, first serve type deal. You will have access to the starters from all of the current regions (Kanto-Galar) along with Pikachu and Eevee. However, I am only giving out one starter per person to start with. So pick carefully!

WILD POKÉMON AND CATCHING

Yes, you will have opportunities most days to catch new Pokémon! At the beginning of every day, there will be a list of Pokémon you can catch. Not everyone will be able to get a Pokémon every day, but that's okay! There will always opportunities to catch more.

Every coordinator will be provided with 10 pokéballs to start. Don't use them up too fast! You will not need to battle for wild Pokémon either. It's all about luck.

Also, you must nickname your Pokémon in order to grow closer to them, as well as gaining extra points at a contest.

Every trainer can only carry around six Pokémon at a time, so if you go over the limit, you can either give a Pokémon to another trainer, or release one of your own. No PC boxes this time around...

LEARNING MOVES AND NATURES

As your Pokémon gains experiences from contests and battles with fellow coordinators, your Pokémon will slowly learn new moves. Moves are ranked by how useful they may be in a contest setting. They are ranked by number, from 1-5. Password is glitter. Some Pokémon may be ranked differently depending on how well it goes with the Pokémon.

Natures are basically a Pokémon's personality. In this game, a Pokémon's nature will effect how well it does in a contest, and it's general friendship with you!

BATTLING

You can challenge your fellow coordinators to battles outside of contests! Battling can help train up your Pokémon, and it gives them the chance to learn new moves!

However, battling comes with a cost. If not stopped soon enough, your Pokémon has the risk of fainting... and once it faints in this game, it's essentially death. You can't use that Pokémon for anything ever again.

CONTESTS

The most important part! Contests go by anime logic, so they are divided into two rounds: the appeal round and the battle round.

Appeal rounds consist of a Pokémon showcasing its moves to the judges. They may use a move multiple times if necessary for a performance. You get a maximum of five commands in order to put on your best performance, so pick wisely!

Battle rounds occur after the appeal rounds, and will be between two trainers. Trainers get a maximum of ten commands to not only try to faint the opposing Pokémon, but also battle as elegantly as possible. If neither Pokémon has fainted by the time the command limit is up, who ever has the most HP wins.

Contests take two days to be completed, while there is a training period of seven days in between. The goal of a coordinator is to win five ribbons in order to be eligible for the Grand Festival, where if you advance far enough, you may get to battle Charlotte herself...

GUEST COORDINATORS AND EVENT POKÉMON

Every ten days, there will be the opportunity to meet either a guest coordinator, or catch an event Pokemon!

Guest coordinators will offer to help train your Pokémon in exchange for Pokédollars, may offer exclusive items, and may give you special accessories for you and your Pokémon!

Event Pokémon can range from starters, to legendary and mythicals, to even shinies! There will only be one of each of these event Pokémon, so pick wisely when it comes to which one you want to compete for!
