Fragility
My mind is a game of dominos
Ivory tiles
That click when they touch
A long line
Swirls and weaving patterns
Push one over
See what happens
I don't mind
Go on.
My mind is a house of cards
Slippery smooth papers
Balance precariously
An intricate pattern
Difficult to replicate
Take one out from the bottom
See what happens
See it all collapse in front of you
I don't mind
It's happened before
I can build it again.
My mind is a shelf filled with glass bottles
Cool brittle glass
Strong and clear
Shiny and smooth
Tear the shelf down
See what happens
Hear the bottles shatter on the ground
Wallow in the beauty
A thousand diamonds
Iridescent in the moonlight
I don't mind
I know you enjoy it
I can see it in your face.
My mind is a water bottle filled to the brim
Sweet cold water
Nerve wracking to look at
Perfectly still
Lest the slightest tremor break the surface tension
Knock it over
Add more water
Until it spills
See what happens
Watch the liquid soak into the ground
Tell me it's because the fauna around me
Need it more than I do
I don't mind
You love to be entranced by it
I exist for you to break
So you can marvel when I put myself back together
And you can break me again.
My mind is a collection
Of fallen dominoes
Splayed out cards
Shards of broken glass
Dirty water
Ugly
Served their purpose
Useless
Look at it all with disgust
Yell at me when the glass cuts you
Ask me why I can't build it up again
Make me feel like shit
For the mess scattered on the floor
I don't mind.
