[ Chapter 09 – A candy sweet hangout ]

–2nd pov–
You woke up to Kevin's messages, who was currently at his job whining about how boring it is, and how his customers treat him like shit especially today.
You felt really bad for the man, he has to deal with such shitty things everyday. You sighed, closing the phone and placing it on the table, going to change from your pyjamas.
You putted on your clothes and went to brush your teeth. After you finished, you jumped on your couch, getting comfortable and grabbing your phone.
You went to tiktok, scrolling through the videos, humming to audios of some of them.
You then saw a new notification pop up, it was a new message from Kevin.
'Lord.. give me a break... some woman with brown hair and a red dress just came in and acted like a bitch. I want to go home please...'
- Petunia 🍭🍬
'Sounds like Carmen. Yeah definitely.'
You sighed, a frown visible on your features, texting a response.
'Gosh. That's so messed up, what.. :( I feel bad for you man. Luckily, today you end early right?'
'Yeah, thankfully. If you were here everything would be better. We could talk about smth and stuff..' - Petunia 🍭🍬
Reading the new message from Kevin, your face turned into flushed one, then relaxed face. A light smile became visible on your features.
'Awh <3 that's really sweet Kevin.'
It's decided, before you go to Library you're going to visit the candystore.
■ 'Fuck, fuck, fuck. I messed up now they definitely think I'm weird. Why did I write that.' Kevin thought, mentally slapping himself. His cheeks began to heat up. He turned his phone off, placing it into his pockets.
He tried to bring you out of his mind, failing. He was worried what you thought of him now, what if he just made himself obvious that he had a crush on you?? Based on your response, you seemed uncomfortable.
Few more hours and he can finally go home. He glared at the floor, still mad at himself. Deep in thought, he didn't hear the glass door open and a new customer walking in.
"You know, glaring like that will give you wrinkles." He heard someone say and giggle, making him look up and face none other than his crush. His face quickly changed into a surprised one, feeling the warmth on his cheeks once again appear.
"[Y–Y/n]?! What are you doing here?? I thought you were supposed to go to the library?" The man asked fast, confused.
"Yeah, I was. And i'm still going. I just wanted to see you and spend some time before I went there, I thought it would cheer you up." They smiled, their eyes focused on the counter in front of them.
What Kevin learned about them, after coming to the candystore often, is that they hated keeping eye contact. Whenever they would speak to him, they'd look anywhere but him, so focused on what they were saying while focusing on one certain place. But whenever he would speak, they would keep their attention on him. Whenever he'd look back at them trying to keep up eye contact, their eyes would tremble a bit, sometimes looking somewhere else for a second just to avoid it.
After Kevin realised that, he would mirror their actions since, keeping his focus on something other than them when speaking, but then looking back at them whenever they'd speak.
They never really mentioned it, but that's what Kevin thought. He was a pretty observant man. You come pretty often but stay for a while, only buying candy and speaking few times there and there, but he noticed it anyway.
He had to admit, even though he despised the kids, he will thank them forever, because thanks to them he was able to meet you.
He still has a soft spot for them, he knows they're kids and even though they might bring trouble and annoy him, he would never hurt them. For now.
"Kevin?? Hellooo??" They waved their hand in front of him, bringing him back to the reality.
"O-OH YEah! Sorry. I-I'm thankful that you came here only to cheer me up.. thank you [Y/n].. It sure did cheer me up." He said, a soft smile visible.
"Of course! I'm glad I could cheer up my favourite candy clerk.." They smirked teasingly. His face turned few shades of red just like the first time.
"And the only one.." he remarked, making the other one frown.
He did used to have a co-worker a while ago, but he got kicked out after not attending the job for a whole month making the boss pissed.
He was glad though, he wasn't much of a help here on the days he would show up anyways and would just flirt with the women who came in the shop, making them uncomfortable.
"Yeah but there are much more candy stores in this town, but I have to admit, none of them are as good as this one."
It was about 1 pm, the time most people have lunches and no one comes in at this time. His shift ends at 3 pm, making him relieved only two hours are left.

You and Kevin spent the rest of his shift talking about many random stuff and luckily, no customer came in.
"I seriously would have never guessed you as someone who likes to cook." You turned to look at Kevin with a smirk, while leaning on the broom you cleaned the floor with.
His cheeks turned into a soft pink, looking at you with a glare. Before speaking, he let out a sigh which relaxed his features. "I-I guess, yeah I have to agree I don't really look like someone who loves to cook. Right?"
"I'm just joking, I mean, look at yourself. You look like a stereotype of a man who loves to cook." You waved your hands in the air while giggling.
"Now.. what do you mean by that..."

After you helped Kevin clean the shop, he locked the glass door. You both then parted ways and waved at eachother.
You then continued your walk to the library, humming softly while listening to music coming from your earbuds.
