Summary: My ass deciding that this basically is a 2+1 of when the 118 goes out and Buck somehow can't come because of reasons and they try to include him afterwards and the 1 time he finally gets to be there. With a somewhat au where Buck outs his parents really early. Also AU with his leg

It had been a while since the 118 had gone out to do something as a team or at this point more as a family. So they began to plan when everyone should be able to come. Buck had actually been the one that made the suggestion that they should be doing something because he felt like they hadn't really had much team bonding and he felt like he wanted to know more about people.

So after that suggestion they had begun with planning. However it came apparent kinda fast that Buck had some difficulties. Not because he was still dating someone but because he knew that his parents would come at some point. So when the date was finally set he told them he was planning on coming but the chance would be pretty big that he couldn't be there because his parents would come.

When the team heard this they were really supportive until he told them that he would either be set out of their lives or he would do it himself because of the way they had been acting towards him since his sister had left. After that they had been supportive in him leaving the bunch and that if he wanted to come later that he could come. Just call.

However when that day did happen he had been talking to his parents and when he basically told them that he didn't accept them anymore as their parents and that they were evicted out of his life he had watched them leave and had decided that it had been enough feelings on the same day so he had called the 118 and told them he would stay home for a while and that they shouldn't expect him to come. He had stopped the call before they could ask what had happened.

On the next shift he had told them what had happened and that he didn't really want to talk about it. So they had let it go. They did talk about the next get together where he should come. And he had said that he would come to that one.

However when that next get together was he had been healing from his leg getting stuck and almost losing his leg and he hadn't really thought that he would be good company when he would basically just hog up a bed or couch to sleep on.

So he had stayed home and had seen the pictures of them getting together. It had been a small bonfire and he had wanted to go there. But he also wanted to think about getting back to the station but he also wanted to think about healing. It had been Eddie who had found him the next day still sleeping on the makeshift bed and had told him that they could do the same thing another time if he still wanted to. Because even though he had been working with them for a while. They still felt like they should get to meet the real Buck. And listen to his stories he had while he was alone.

So he had told them he would hopefully come to the next get together. When he was healed and cleared back for work. This did happen. There were some setbacks when he figured out that something was wrong because he was coughing a lot but something felt wrong in his leg. When he went to the doctor they found out about the clots. He had a surgery for this without really letting his family know. Because even though he knew they would be there for him he also knew they would be working and he didn't really want to bother them all too much.

Because of this he was surprised when he woke up and his family was in the room. He had looked surprised because Maddie had stepped forward and told him to never make them scared like that again. Apparently the doctor had called his proxy to let them know how the surgery went and wanted to be sure that if something were to go wrong what they should do.

This had been a little bit invasive but because of this he knew for sure that he had his family by his side and that he could go back to them when he was fully healed. However before he did go back to work he found out about the get together. It had been by accident because it was supposed to be a surprise. But Eddie had left his phone open. And he had wanted to know who he should call when he stumbled into the text group and had found out about it.

and like he said it was an accident. But he had looked and he knew the surprise but he had been happy and wanted them to let him surprise him because he didn't know what they would be doing but he also hoped that they wouldn't give him an accidental heart attack when they surprised him because his heart rate had been higher after he got the clots removed.

Mostly because of all the adrenaline but also because his heart had been giving signals for a while that something was wrong but he had given it to him being somewhat more active. Before he could think more about what they could be doing Eddie walked back in and smiled at him.

This had also been a new development. They got together after he had the clot surgery and they had been happy together but he was also happy that someone was there to keep an eye on him and remind him he should take it easier sometimes.

When they began driving Eddie began to ramble about some things but Buck wasn't really paying attention because of the fact that he hadn't been really out of the house for a while. He had been recovering after all so he was looking around and he wanted to take some things in.

When they came close to the way Athena and Bobby lived he smiled a little. Because this could mean that maybe they would be cooking or something like that. But when they came there he could already smell the fire and he knew that it would be something else. He was proven right when they walked into the backyard.

They were greeted by a bonfire and the people around them were holding skewers with some snacks on them but also with some meat on them. And in an instant he knew that this would be his welcome back party or just a welcome back thing for him. Because it had been something they had been planning for a while now and whenever he couldn't come he found out they had done something different because of the fact that he couldn't come and they didn't want to spoil the fun.

The party would last until late in the night and he was sitting with his back against Eddie's chest and he would look around and be really happy with his family. But most of all wonder how they have come this far. He would also tell them stories about his adventures from before he ended up by the 118. It was a good time for all of them and it was a new beginning for all of them.
