The Irony of Adolf Hitler & The History of Nazism

The man whose name is now synonymous with evil was an insane hypocrite who believed in blonde superiority was actually a brunette.  The shmuck who ruled Germany under extreme racial nationalism of Germany was not even German.  And that's not even the most insane thing about him.

Hitler was born on 20 April 1889 in the country of Austria and worked as a street artist. During World War One he served as a lance corporal in the Bavarian army and partook in many battles such as the First Battle of Ypres, Battle of Arras etc.

Hitler and The Nazis

Hitler's Appointment As Party Leader

The Nazi party was a minority party when he first joined the Nazi party in after WW1 and became leader of the party 1921. 7 years later the Nazis were still not popular and held only 2.6% of votes in the 1928 elections.

After becoming leader of the party Hitler set up armed groupers of supporters who wore brown shirts as uniforms. Their motto was "All opposition must be stamped to the ground" and was the first clue of Hitler's unstable nature and that he would eventually become a ruthless dictator. These supporters were known as Stormtroopers or Sturmabteilung in German, SA for short.

The SA had no rules against the use of violence and it was common for them to beat up people for not agreeing with their ideals, they often organised marching parades and carried the Nazi flag which had the Swastika (the Nazi symbol on).

The 1923 Coup

In the year 1923 Hitler organised a military coup or putsch against the German government. The Nazi party failed to overthrow the government and Hitler was sentenced to 9 months in prison. During his incarceration, he wrote his famous book Mein Kampf or My Struggle in English. In this book, Hitler expressed deep Anti-Semitist values that reasoned with many people already beginning to fuel the fire of WW2.

The Weimar Republic & The Great Depression

The Weimar Republic was the German government after WW1 and before the Nazi rule, it was designed on a democratic political system consisting of a Reichstag (Parliament) headed by the Chancellor and Head of State (the president). Germans over the age of 20 had to vote in separate elections for the Reichstag and Head of State.

The Weimar Republic eventually failed with one of the reasons being that Germany was used to an Authoritarian leadership system, having previously been led by a Kaiser and many powerful businesses, judges and the powerful military did not support the system of democracy. Another reason for the failure of the Weimar Republic was that Germany had many political parties and no one party could secure enough seats in the Reichstag to deal with the country's problems.

The Weimar Republic experienced dramatic inflation (caused by the cost of war damages from WW1) and was lent money by the USA that allowed this republic to become stable for a little while. This stabilisation did not last long due to the Great Depression, an economic disaster starting in the USA.

The Wall Street Stock Market crashed and the stocks no longer held any value, thousands of people lost their money and the American economy collapsed and inflation skyrocketed and every country that traded with America was affected.

In Germany banks and factories closed, workers lost jobs and inflation became near unbearable. The USA now needed the money loaned to Germany backed but Germany was unable to pay and more businesses collapsed.

The Weimar government couldn't handle the economic strain and many people became very unhappy and blamed the government.

The 1933 Elections

In 1929 the Nazis were still not popular but The Great Depression persuaded more people to vote for them especially after the Nazis received financial support from businesses and the military. Many people also believed that the Nazi party could save them thanks to skilful (and very twisted) propaganda and by 1932 the party was well organised. Hitler was also a brilliant public speaker able to easily and skilfully hold the attention of thousands (you know what they say, folks if what he says makes him seem like an insane person, he probably is but you know he didn't even stutter so let's vote him in!).

In the 1933 elections, the Nazis won with 43.9% of the votes and Hitler became Chancellor of Germany.

And what did the sweet little Adolfie do? He had president Hindenburg sign an act that allowed only the Nazi's to be a political party and gave them complete power! So of course the logical next step was to form a dictatorship.

Der Fuhrer & The First Concentration Camps

Once the 1933 Enabling Act came into being all pollical opponents of the Nazis were sent to jail, 'cause you know, dictator. Soon after the madness began Germany's prisons were overflowing and so the first concentration camp was opened in Dachau to house anyone who opposed the Nazis.

This camp housed about 206 206 prisoners many people in its lifetime and was primarily a work camp.

The conditions of this camp at this time were very mild compared to the horrors that concentration camps would become. In the years to come, the Nazis would establish staggering thousands of concentration camps.

Up until 1934, Germany was not yet restored to an authoritarian state as there was still a parliament and president (though both may have been dysfunctional). However, President Hindenburg passed away in the year 1934 and Hitler combined the titles of President and Chancellor to become Der Fuhrer, meaning the leader in English.

He became the supreme ruler of Germany and began his reign of terror through not ruling by the laws of the German Constitution and being a general bully.

The Aryan Race

Adolf Hitler was a brunette male who was obsessed with so-called "racial purity". The Nazi party promoted the Aryan Race as superior and the ideal German.

This caused the ideology of the Aryan Race. To be classified as an Aryan you must have been German-born, something the instigator Hitler wasn't-ironic right?-a blonde-another Hitler wasn't- and have blue eyes.

Hitler was so obsessed with this racial purity that people considered to be part of the Aryan race were given special rights and, this is the freaky part, Hitler built an underground sort of city to try and breed Aryans as the purest race of the world.

WAIT-HITLER WAS HALF WHAT?!

We all know that Hitler was really, anti-Semantic to the point that he tried to murder all European Jews. We know that Jews were Hitler's main target. We don't know much about Hitler's early life.

What we do know is that Hitler was born to a Jewish woman.

That's right, the man was freakin' half-Jewish.

HE WAS HALF-JEWISH. AND BRUNETTE.
