Chapter Twenty-Six
Simon
"Ok we need to sort things out," Simon rubbed his eyes. He had come into Deidre's room after the room situation was fixed.
"Alright but we can't say we're divorcing. We're too close." Deidre reasoned.
"And we can't say you're pregnant!" He responded.
"Why not?"
"Who knows how long we'll be here - come nine months, when there's no baby, we could actually get in trouble-"
"Like we're not already in any?" Deidre sounded near hysterics.
"Look I don't know what to do but both of our lies don't work and we both just want to go home. What are we gonna do?" He ran his fingers through his ruffled hair.
"We...we could come out and tell the truth," She said and nervously looked up at his eyes.
"Then what? Someone's gonna hurt you and-"
"What kind of hurt?"
Simon pursed his lips. "Never mind. What are we going to come up with?"
"I don't know." Deidre flopped onto the bed like a starfish.
"Well we gotta pick out something." He threw up his hands and crossed his arms.
"Okay, okay. What if we say that...you get nightmares frequently and end up thrashing around."
"Why me?"
"Fine. I'll do it." Deidre rolled her eyes.
"No no. It's okay. I was just teasing you." Simon sat down onto the bed.
"Goodnight. Love ya," Deidre gave him a quick hug and Simon squeezed her back.
He couldn't help but think, even after leaving her room, that someone here was going to break her heart - he hoped it wasn't to be him.
