Doctor's Orders [Midorima Shintaro]
Midorima kept hanging baby clothes and taking them off again. He'd fix the crib with an ocean pattern and change it with a different one once he was done. He ran from one corner of the nursery to the other, placing toys and books and whatever else he decided a baby would need.
[Name] was leaning against the door frame. She was six-months into the pregnancy, and she wasn't as worried as her husband of three years was.
"Shintaro, you don't need to do all of this now." She walked into the nursery and wrapped her arm around her husband's arm.
Midorima stood from his crouched position. "If I don't do it now, I won't have time later. What if the baby comes now? I won't have a nursery ready for our precious baby, and she's going to have to..."
[Name] grabbed his face and pulled him closer, so that he was looking directly at her.
"Shintaro, the nursery is complete. We just need to hang up some of the clothes and buy more baby blankets, but other than that, we're ready to be parents."
Midorima sighed. "Okay, I trust you." He looked around at the ocean-themed nursery for their daughter. It would suit her well since they both named her Kaiyo, the ocean.
"You should trust me! We've been together for seven years, and for three of them, we've been married!" [Name] acted offended, hoping to get a reaction from her dense husband.
Midorima ignored her and pulled back. "You said we needed to buy baby blankets, right?"
"Yes, why?"
He grabbed his wife's sweater and handed it to her. "Let's go. I need fresh air anyways."
They walked together, hand in hand, to the mall. Because Midorima had been buying so many sets of clothes for his daughter, he was already a gold member at the baby store.
"Midorima-san, is this your wife? I've only seen her a few times in person. She's so beautiful; your daughter is going to be so gorgeous. You must bring her in once she's born." An elderly lady from behind the counter made her way to greet them.
"Yes, I will. Thank you, Nikaido-san." Midorima wandered off into the girls' clothing section while [Name] stayed behind to talk to the store owner.
"I remember when my first child was born. Labor was a pain, but in the end, it was worth every second." Nikaido couldn't stop smiling at [Name]. "I'm so jealous. I wish I had more children in my life."
"N-Nikaido-san, this is just my first child!"
Nikaido waved the air in front of her. "I know that, but your husband surely must want more children. He comes here very often to look at new items that have arrived over night. He must be in love with children."
[Name] giggled. "I suppose so... Shintaro has always been so worried since I told him I was pregnant. He had the crib bought and built the next day."
Nikaido patted [Name] on the arm. "That's the sign of a very good husband. Not to mention that he's a doctor as well." She gave her a sly smirk, making [Name] blush.
Midorima's head popped up from within the aisles. "[Name], come here. What do you think of these?"
[Name] made her way to her husband when she felt a sharp pain in her ankle. She froze and let out a small groan of pain. Nikaido rushed to her side, as well as Midorima.
"[Name], are you okay?" Midorima's face grew more concerned by the second.
[Name] nodded. "It was just in my leg, so there's no need to worry."
"Yes there is. We should go home." Midorima turned to look at Nikaido. "Thank you, Nikaido-san."
The old woman nodded. "I hope everything is fine, Midorima-san."
Midorima had picked [Name] up bridal-style, making sure that he was careful with every step he took. If he dropped her, he'd risk the injury of [Name] and the possible death of his daughter. "Shintaro, I can walk. You can let me go."
He looked down at her while he made his way out of the mall. [Name] was embarrassed; people were staring at both of them, but Midorima didn't seem to mind. "If I put you down, you might get hurt again. And, it's okay. We're almost home."
They both approached their home, and Midorima had [Name] open the door. He took off his shoes before carrying [Name] to their bedroom. He gently placed her in the center and crawled over her.
"Are you okay?" he asked. His face was concerned, and he had a small crease in the center of his forehead. Usually, his voice was sarcastic, but now his tone was soothing.
[Name] felt her cheeks radiate heat. This side of Midorima was rare, and it made her fall head-over-heels for him all over again.
"You're red. Do you have a fever, too? That's not good, and you should trust me. I'm a doctor."
[Name] shook her head. "N-no, I'm fine. You're just really attractive when you're so worried about me." She giggled and covered her face with the long sleeves of her sweater.
Midoriam clicked his tongue and rolled over to sit next to her. "You're so childish. Thinking I'm only attractive when I'm concerned about you..." He began to roll up [Name]'s pants legs. "Your feet are swollen. I think we should postpone any extreme walking distances."
[Name] sat up, but Midorima ordered her to stay there."I'm going to grab more pillows for your edema to elevate them. And then, I'll help you in the bath."
"Shintaro, I'm okay. I can take a bath myself." Midorima shook his head.
"I'll assist you, but you must follow the doctor's order if you wish to get better." He flashed her a smile, one that was filled with tease and love.
[Name] gave him a pout. "I suppose so... But, I'm going to get pampered like a princess, then."
