《chapter 9》

Guys please stop reading, i can't keep the motivation to consistently upload T-T
If you guys notices any weird changes to the characters its because I forgot a lot of stuff about this story, I don't even remember where I was going with this so. . .
Also I'm not a doctor and I wrote this in an hour so don't come for me.

3rd person

Yelling could be heard for miles as the battle raged on.
Though Aclors army was vastly outnumbered, they had superior tactics and skill on their side. And that was all they needed.
Though alcor wished he was on the front lines, he knew it would take a toll on his still-recovering form. Instead, he was acting as a medic for the time being. He still had his incredible healing magic with him so he put it to good use. He was healing a soldier that had been shot in the shoulder by shrapnel caused by an explosion. It's unfortunate that the common spirits like the soldiers weren't mostly indestructible like the higher beings. They may be immortal, but death will come to all eventually, even those who have already died once before.

"Alcor! We have another one!"
Alcor gave his previous patient to a nurse and proceeded quickly to the next. An unfortunate dryad had been caught in the crossfire.
Though they weren't a part of his army, they were still a part of his kingdom and so it was his duty to see them recovered.
"What happened?" Alcor asked the dryad.
"I couldn't tell from which side it came, but a price of fractured sword flew away from the fighting as I was trying to get away and hit my back,"
Alcor sat them on a bed and inspected their back, there was a peice of silver sticking out.
"Its still in there, ill have to preform some emergency surgery. Please lie down of your front, would you prefer to be numbed or knocked out? The latter will take longer and increase risk of complications but the former may be uncomfortable,"
"Numbing is fine, I can deal with it if it gets this thing out of me faster,"

Alcor called over some nurses to assist him. Alcor sterilized the area and himself, as he did this the nurses prepared the patient.

Once he was ready and the patient gave consent, alcor began to carefully remove the sword shard from their back. Becuse it was so close to the spine he had to be especially careful. Thankfully the anatomy of a dryad is similar to a human, but a lot simpler, so there were less vital organ he would have to worry about.
Once he removed the shard, alcor cleaned the area and checked for more shards and punctured organs. He found another piece deeper into the flesh but it thankfully hadn't hit any organs. After all peices were removed alcor began the stitches, which didn't take too long and then he was finally able to get the patient taken to another area of the hospital.
"Your majesty," alcor turned to see a senior nurse behind him, "more medics  have arrived and the front as calmed  for now. You should take a break while you can."
"Alright, if you insist. Ill be back soon."

Alcor exited the pop-up hospital and made his way towards the nearby stream so he could be alone for a minute. As he entered a more secluded area of the forest he was stopped when he sensed an unfamiliar aura coming closer to him.
"So, this is the famous Alcor, Kemleer of wisdom and knowledge."
Alcor turned to see who had been following him. He narrowed his eyes, "ah, General Dignus, to what do I owe the pleasure?"

General Dignus is the one currently overseeing all operations a the palace, and the man he was waiting for.
"I think you know why I'm here. Cease this petty squabble at once, we both know you have no chance of winning."
Just then, a large amount of enemy soldiers jump out of the bushes and surrounded Alcor.
"So, you've come in hopes of intimidating me into submission, did you?" Alcor looked uneasy.
"Hah! Scared are you, I knew you were never so great, im surprised you lasted so long last time. Just follow me to the palace and maybe I'll let you go with your life in tact."
"A-Alright, I'll come with you, just d-dont hurt me." Aclor trembled slightly.
"Hahaha, this is going to be fun."
Alcors hands were bound and he was surrounded by guards, then he was led towards the palace by Dignus.

After they arrived Alcor was placed in an interrogation chamber, his hands were chained to the table and there were guards on either side of the room.
"So, Alcor, I'm going to need you to answer a few questions for me, then perhaps I'll spare your life,"
General Dignus said as he sauntered into the room. "First," he slammed his fist of the table, "what have you done with Marionette."
"Why do you want to know." Alcor shot back.
"Hey, im the one asking questions here! Or have you forgotten the position you're in?"
Dignus got closer to Alcor, but he didn't back down.
"Oh I know exactly whats happening," alcor laughed, "you really fell for it, didn't you?"
Alcor continued laughing as Dignus began to get angry.
"What have you done!" He demanded
"Oh Dignus. Poor, poor, Dignus. Falling for the oldest trick in the book,"
Alcor suddenly began to glow as he  tore his hands free from the shackles and grabbed Dignus by his collar.
"I wanted you to take me here, I knew your tactics, you're a coward, I knew you would come to me so you could get me to agree to a truce or to surrender so you wouldn't have to fight. Oh if only all battles were this easy."

Alcor punched him, sending him flying back, the guards were scared stiff by the power radiating from Alcor.
"I really should thank you, though," Alcor grinned at Dignus, "for making my job so much easier, for continuing to be as much of a fool as I remembered you being. As much I I would love to kill you and what the life leave your eyes for the final time, you are still somewhat helpful to us."
"W-wait! You'll never win out there, i have hundreds more men than you!"
"You may beat is in numbers, but we have something you couldn't even hope to have, intelligence."
With that Alcor placed Dignus into a temporary stasis until he was able to get him into more permanent containment.
Alcor took out the guards with a simple flick of his wrist and left the room.

The plan went off without a hitch, victory was guaranteed, and Alcor was having the time of his life. Alcor walked through the halls, easily taking down guards and laughing manically with an insane look in his eyes.
Okay, maybe Alcor was a bit more unstable than before, but it should calm once his mind has fully recovered.
Once Alcor reached the throne room, it wasn't like ones you would see in the human realm. If you were to make comparison it was closer to a courtroom. This is were the kemleer would judge the actions gods and spirits put on trial. They only dealt with high ranking and highly dangerous entities though, smaller cases and trivial matter went to smaller courts.

Alcors target was right in front of him, a magical device the held up a barrier around the palace, he knew that the only way he could get through is if he was escorted through, hence the trickery.

With one snap the machine was destroyed and Alcor felt the earth tremble slightly as the barrier out side shattered, Alcor began laughing again, he just couldn't control it, he had over exerted himself. Alcor was feeling tired and he began having waves of weakness wash over him, even if the barrier was draining his magic while it was up, he shouldn't be feeling this way. He could understand the tiredness, but it shouldn't be affecting his mind. Hopefully the effects won't be permanent.
Is there another spell in place. Alcor leaned against his throne for a moment, but he then felt a surge of white-hot pain surge through him. He jumped away and fell to the ground. He sat hunched over on his knees for some time and he felt waves of pain continue to wash over him. He managed to stumble out of the throne room and into the hallway and the waves of pain stopped.

that was strange, was there spell to keep him out of there? Alcor scanned the palace with a wave of magic. The throne room was covered by a curse, but it was only that room? What was special enough to only put the curse in that room? He would need to figure out later, right now he was in no state to be investigating the curse, and he needed to report back to Bill.
Alcor sat against the wall and contacted Bill through their mental link.

'Bill, the palace is secure, though there seems to be a curse in the throne room, avoid it as much as you are able'

'We will begin to close in on the palace shortly, the enemy has surrendered and we're now taking them into custody."

Alcor managed to stand up and make his way to the east wing were his quarters were. Thankfully the charm hadn't been broken in the time he was gone and the enemy wouldn't have been able to get into his room. Alcor sat on a sofa just inside his room and waited for everyone else to get to the palace.

~*timeskip*~

The night was full of cheering, singing, and laughing as everyone celebrated the victory. Thankfully there were no casualties on their side. Alcor locked Dignus in a proper cell and stripped him of his weapons and magicks.

Alcor was sitting at a table with the other Kemleers, sharing drinks as they recounted the events.
"So, alcor, how'd it go with General Dingus." Linea asked
"Ha, he is just as much of a fool as I remember him, you should've seen the look on his face when he realized a had him fooled." Alcor gave a maniacal laugh "oh I cant wait to, interrogate him."
"Alcor, are you alright?" Zachary asked with a worried look. "You seem to be acting different than usual."
"He's right," Bill added, "does this have something to do with the curse you mentioned earlier? Because I had to go into the throne room and yet I felt no odd magicks."
"Really, did you go near the thrones?"
Alcor asked, getting slight worried.
"Yes, I wiped some blood and dust off them, nothing happened."
"But, when I first went in there. . ."
Alcor sent anything wave of magic to scan the palace, but. . . There was nothing. Not even a trace.
"Wait, alcor your magic. . ." Zachary stood from his seat and got closer.
"Something isn't right."
The other kemleer stood up as well, looking at Alcor with worry.
Alcor was deep in thought at to why the curse just suddenly disappeared, it was as if it wasn't there.
Alclor's eyes widened.
"No. . . It couldn't have. . ."
Alcor stood up so fast his chair fell over, several people looked their way, wondering why the atmosphere had suddenly grown tense around them.
Alcor brought out a flame on his hand, I seemed normal at first, but as he held it out it slowly began to lose its color.
Suddenly a burst of pain similar to earlier rushed through Alcor and he let out a yell of agony. He fell to the ground, the world around him started spinning, he could barely make out people yelling as black spots appeared in his vision.
He could feel his magic being drained, the pain continued coursing through him. The last thing Alcor saw before passing out was Zachary and Bill staring down at him with scared looks on their faces.

See important notice.

So as most of you know I haven't updated in a while, because of that I've completely forgotten a lot of details in the story and I cant bring myself to re-read most of the previous chapters due to cringe. I apologize in advance for any weird changes you notice in upcoming chapters.

Can you tell I procrastinate a lot?🙂

Au revoir 😘
