Wild Goose Chase
"I'll start with Marvin, he would probably know where the others are, or even better, he might have the room key." Sean decided aloud as he considered where to look first for the magician.
He didn't have to look far.
When he arrived in the breakfast area, he could see Marvin preforming tricks for patrons while they ate, entertaining them for money that was collected in a plastic cup.
"And as my next trick-"
Marvin froze when he saw Sean, causing all eyes to turn towards him much to his discomfort.
"Marvin, do you have the room key?" Sean asked as he walked up to him, earning glares and looks of confusion from a couple of people.
"No, but I think Jackaboy-Man might have it." Marvin answered as he absent mindlessly shuffled through his deck of cards.
"Hey leave him alone man, he's doing a magic show asshole!" One of the people in the crowd shouted, earning a sea of nods in agreement from the others.
"C'mon, we have to find the others." Sean hissed, dragging him away from the crowd.
"But-"
"No buts, I need to get back to my room." Sean interrupted impatiently as Marvin snatched his cup of money up on the way out.
"Why aren't you wearing pants?" Marvin snickered.
"I forgot to put a pair on before leaving to find you guys, can you give me one?" Sean pleaded.
"Sure." Marvin smirked, tossing him a card that created a pair of black jeans in his hand.
"Thanks." Sean nodded in appreciation as he quickly slipped them on to avoid more states from strangers.
"Do you know where Jackaboy-Man is?" Sean demanded as they paused outside of the elevator.
"If I were to guess, he's probably at the pool." Marvin predicted with an uncertain shrug.
"Then that's where we're going." Sean stated as strode into the elevator that was thankfully unoccupied.
Just as the elevator started to close, he spotted Jameson dart past them in a hurry.
"Wait, Jameson!" Sean shouted as he stopped the doors from shutting, racing out to chase after the silent ego.
"I'll look for Jackaboy-Man!" Marvin announced as the doors shut before taking him away.
"Jameson, where are you going?" Sean asked in a rush as he struggled to keep up with him.
"Jameson is worried about the others as well as Sean, so they will look for them together." Jameson declared in his announcer's voice.
"Okay, do you know where any of them are?" Sean prompted.
Jameson shook his head no to Sean's disappointment, leaving him with no idea of where to even look.
"Marvin's looking for Jackaboy-Man, so we just need to find Schneep." Sean sighed in relief, glad to be almost done with the chase.
Thank god I didn't bring all of the egos, Sean thought, already knowing the chaos would he worse with more than four egos to handle.
Sean and Jameson took the elevator to each floor, scanning each one thoroughly until they reached the rooftop.
It was almost afternoon, the sky a light blue and cloudless unlike the usual gray overcast Sean was used to in Brighton, the sun shining above them and warming the two with its bright rays of warmth.
Sean spotted Schneep sitting on the edge of the building with his legs dangling over the side, seeming unbothered by the height as he swung his legs back and forth.
"Schneep, we gotta go!" Sean urged the doctor ego.
"I keep having these nightmares...of you dying because of me, of Anti controlling me, of losing everyone I care about because of me...I don't vant to hurt anyone." Schneep whispered, ignoring Sean as he looked out at the horizon with a vacant glimmer in his eyes that worried Sean.
"Hey, we're all okay, no one's dying on my watch." Sean promised him firmly as he knelt by his side despite his mounting fear of being close to terrifying heights.
"I know I saved you once, but I'm scared that I can't again...I don't want to lose you." Schneep continued, his gaze cast to the buildings below them.
"Being your caring side means that I care too much about all of you. And if I'm a threat to you all..." Schneep trailed off as he glanced over at Sean.
"Doc?"
Sean turned to look at Jameson to see him holding Sean's phone, Chase's face filling the screen.
"What are you doing?" Chase continued in a worried tone.
"Nothing, I...zhis is hard...but I can't get rid of the nightmares, zhey keep following me." Schneep sighed, suddenly looking older as he rubbed his face with his hands.
"Just know that you're the great doctor Schneeplestien, I believe in you and I'll never stop believing in you no matter what." Chase assured him with a small smile before the call ended.
"C'mon Schneep, we need to find Jackaboy-Man." Sean repeated, offering him his hand.
Schneep took in a deep breath before taking his hand and standing up, his body shaking violently with fear.
The trio took the elevator back to the lobby to go to the pool, finding Jackaboy-Man in the pool with Marvin playing Marco Polo.
"C'mon in Sean, the water's great!" Jackaboy-Man exclaimed as he attempted to drag Sean in.
Sean slipped on the tile with a yelp of surprise, his head slamming against the tile before he slid into the water, his blood turning the clear water crimson.
"Jackaboy-Man!" Marvin snapped in anger as he pulled Sean out.
"Sorry." Jackaboy-Man apologized sheepishly, hastily climbing out of the pool.
"Schneep?" Marvin prompted.
"Ve need to give him air! Jameson, I need a needle, rubbing alcohol, and thread now!" Schneep barked, taking control without hesitation.
The other egos stood back as Schneep carefully stitched Sean's head back up, gently wiping away the blood as he worked.
"Sean, can you hear me? How many fingers am I holding up?" Schneep asked Sean calmly.
"Four...wait, two. Fuck, my head hurts." Sean groaned as woke up, slowly cracking his eyes open to look up at Schneep.
"Let's get you to your room." Marvin interjected, taking the key from Jackaboy-Man before teleporting everyone to their room.
Marvin let them in before collapsing onto a bed to sleep, Jackaboy-Man carrying Sean to the other bed before curling up on the cot he found in the closet while Jameson took the couch bed and Schneep returned to the reading chair.
None of them noticed the dark figure appear in the room and take Sean before disappearing again without a trace.
