The Search Begins
"Man with a black suit and pale skin with short black hair...sounds very generic." Felix muttered in irritation as he sat down on the couch, rubbing his beard thoughtfully.
"There must be something ve missed." Schneep growled in frustration.
Jameson seemed puzzled as well, absent mindlessly sketching out the features Marvin told him of the man in a notebook.
"I know, but we need to find him." Sean huffed in exasperation, sitting down by him.
"Robbie help." Robbie decided as he hopped up into the couch and curled up in Sean's lap, protectively baring his teeth at Felix.
"Are you sure there's nothing else you saw?" Felix prompted the magician.
"I already told you everything! I only saw a couple of flower shops nearby, and Anti with the other guy!" Marvin snapped.
Wordlessly, Jackaboy-Man left the room and closed himself off into Sean's recording room, furious typing audible through the door.
"Jackaboy-Man, we already told you no hacking the government from Sean's computer!" Signe sighed in irritation as she strode to the door and tried to pull it open.
It was locked.
"What the hell is he doing?" Felix wondered aloud.
"Beats me." Sean shrugged, equally confused.
"And...done!" Jackaboy-Man declared as he swung the door open.
"I hacked the cameras in Brighton that matches Marvin's description of the area he saw the two." Jackaboy-Man announced proudly, playing the footage as everyone filed in to see.
Anti was walking through the street with his hands shoved deep into his pockets and his head bowed, his hood covering most of his face.
"Hello friend."
Startled, Anti abruptly looked up to see the black haired stranger standing in front of him.
"Why are you crying?" He prompted gently.
Sean looked at Anti's face and saw faint tear streaks on his cheeks, his eyes bloodshot and nose tinged a light red hue.
"It's nothing." Anti mumbled sourly, moving to walk around them.
"I only want to help." The man told Anti, grabbing his arm as he started to walk past.
"You can't help me make my family accept me! I'm a freak, a glitch bitch!" Anti yelled in his face, expression twisted in a combination of hurt, anger, and sadness that made Sean flinch in guilt for pushing him away.
"I don't belong anywhere, not even that stupid lab they kept me locked in like some kind of lab rat, taking my aspirations away from me as if they meant nothing!" Anti snarled, curling his fingers to form fists at his side.
"I have a family of my own that I know would love to welcome you." Dark replied calmly, releasing his grip on Anti's arm.
"Why should I trust you? I don't even know your name." Anti countered warily, unfurling his fingers slowly.
"How rude of me, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Dark, a pleasure to meet you. And your name?" Dark prompted.
"Anti, likewise." Anti hesitantly introduced himself with a quick nod.
"Now why should I trust you?" Anti demanded.
"Because your family doesn't trust you, but I am willing to whole-heartedly. No secrets. No betrayal. No backstabs. Just cooperation to reach a shared goal." Dark answered simply.
"I'll make you feel right at home." Dark promised, shaking his hand.
Sean could see Marvin's septic spy he sent hovering towards the two, watching in horror as Dark grabbed it in one hand with ninja like reflexes and squeezed it in his fist until it exploded before taking Anti's arm and disappearing.
"Wow." Signe whispered in shock.
"We got a name, that's a start." Chase chimed in.
"I looked up the name and found this." Jackaboy-Man spoke up as he showed the group a picture of a man that looked like Dark, but had tan skin and kind chocolate brown eyes, a smile lighting up his face as he looked at the camera.
"His name is Mark Fischbach, he lives in LA with his best friend Tyler and runs a YouTube channel." Jackaboy-Man stated.
"But how does that help us find Dark?" Sean frowned in confusion.
"I think Dark is Mark's demon, like how Anti is yours. If we find Mark-"
"Then we find Dark." Felix interrupted thoughtfully.
"Exactly." Jackaboy-Man nodded before shutting down the computer.
"But how will we find him in LA, it's huge!" Sean exclaimed.
"There's only so many places in a large city a demon can hide in a large city and stay out of sight." Marvin interjected.
"Fine. Signe and Felix, stay here with the egos. I will fly out to LA and find Anti." Sean instructed.
"No way, we're coming with you!" Chase argued.
"Ve can help!" Schneep added.
Jameson nodded hastily in agreement.
"At least let Schneep, Marvin, Jackaboy-Man, and Jameson come with you." Signe pleaded.
Sean hesitated as he glanced between the four, watching their faces light up in excitement at the thought of leaving Brighton.
"Okay." Sean relented, the chosen egos cheering in response.
"No fair." Chase grumbled sourly.
"Don't vorry Chase, I'll be back soon." Schneep assured him.
"We need you here in case Anti shows up and isn't in a good mood." Signe chimed in to cheer him up.
"Yeah, I'll be the best defender in the world with my trick shots! Can I get my real gun back now?" Chase begged Signe, shooting her his best puppy dog eyes.
"We'll see." Signe smirked, Chase's excitement deflating slightly.
"I'll be gone for about a week, if I don't find Anti in that time, then I'll come back and hatch a different plan." Sean told Signe.
"Come back soon." Signe whispered as she pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"I have to buy plane tickets, so it'll be awhile before we can go." Sean reminded her.
"No worries, I got this." Marvin assured him, retrieving a card from his deck and tossing it onto the floor below them, creating a portal that spat them out in LA.
"That was awesome!" Jackaboy-Man laughed once he was shot out of the portal followed by Schneep, Jameson, Sean, then Marvin.
"S-Sean, I...I can't..." Marvin trailed off, his legs wobbling and the parts of his face visible past his mask as white as his cards.
"I got ya." Jackaboy-Man promised as he caught the unsteady magician, gently easing him to the ground.
"Now vhat?" Schneep prompted Sean.
"We find a hotel for the night and start our search tomorrow morning." Sean informed the group.
Sean led them to a nearby hotel, Schneep and Jameson following close behind him with Jackaboy-Man slightly trailing behind, Marvin in his arms bridal style.
The person behind the registration desk shot the egos a questioning look when Sean booked a room, but didn't say anything as she handed him the key.
"Dibs on the bed!" Jackaboy-Man called out as he leaped onto a bed.
Jameson shrugged and took the fold out couch bed, leaving a reading chair in the corner and the last bed.
"I'll take the reading chair, you need rest." Schneep told Sean as he cured up in the chair.
Sean crawled into bed and looked up at the ceiling until he fell asleep, wondering if he would find Dark and Anti before it would be too late.
