Chapter 1: The Girl That Shares My Face

PRESENT DAY

Third person's POV

"Merging with her will make me a weak leader!" the chestnut brown haired girl shouted to an older man with almost similar but slightly darker  hair. They had been in what seemed to be a cream-painted room, with a single couch pressed against the wall and what seemed to be dead rose flowers in a vase rested on a small table. There was a plastic case with a television set in it which looked like it hadn't been touched in years. The windows had been slightly shattered so one could tell that a lot had happened in the house.

"It's neither your nor my choice, Ariana. You need all the power you can get – the people are scared of you, " the man said, trying to reason with the angry girl who was still not satisfied.

"But I have it under control now, I promise. I won't hurt anyone again. Not unless they provoke me themselves at least." Ariana grunted, disappointing the man even more. He sighed and walked over to the couch to take a seat, his head burried in his hands.

"I need this, honey. Please. That birthmark on your fist is a symbolism that shows absolute dedication to our coven. It shows that you are a warrior so don't prove me wrong and show me that you're weak! " the man said, almost shouting to the young girl, his eyes filled with plead and hope. This made Ariana take a glance at the half-moon birthmark on her fist and sigh. She didn't care about most things but she cared about the coven, mostly ruling it but she still cared.

"Fine, dad. But stop calling me by your pet names. I've literally grown out of them," Ariana grunted, flaring her hand to create a portal with blue flames around it making Ariana carefully go through the portal into a building with the words "Grim City Highschool" inscripted on its top. Ariana sighed and walked into the building hoping no one saw her portal into the area.

Meanwhile elsewhere....
Pheobe's POV

I wake up to hear my parents squabbling again but I'm unsure of how to react, I don't know whether to be angry or carry on with my day.

I got up from my bed and made a sigh of delight. I stretch my body for about fifteen minutes. As a cheerleader, keeping myself flexible is important. I couldn't help but feel peaceful as I looked across my salmon pink bedroom to see picture of my parents, Lisa and I all over the wall. I was however always confused by why I hadn't had any pictures of myself from when I was a child. It made my feel like I lost part of my childhood.

"Pheobe! Honey, get your breakfast and go to school!" my mother shouted at a high tone, quickly pulling myself out of my thoughts.

"Coming mom!" I replied and stretched my hands, walking over to my mirror to comb my chestnut brown hair roughly as it was always tough to straighten. In frustration I simply put it in a tight bun and glanced at the half-moon birthmark on my brown fist. It had always infatuated me as I had no idea where it came from making me sigh and slip my clothes on.

I then ran down the stairs to see my parents in a better mood than they were previously. They always had a tendency to keep themselves happy when I was around and pretend everything was fine, even though I knew it wasn't. We were a perfect family to the untrained eye. I simply shrugged it off and smiled at the two.

"Thanks for sandwich mom. See you tonight to watch the big game dad?" I asked my dad, softly taking the sandwich from my mother and giving her a kiss on the cheek before turning my attention back to him.

"Of course honey. Don't forget your homework!" He shouted playfully, causing a small laugh to emerge from my mouth.

I smiled as I exited the house, munching the sandwich on my way to the bus, throwing it's remainings into a trash can. I stood on the bus stop, waiting for the bus, obviously and got in with everyone's eyes loosely focused on me as though they had seen a ghost. I simply put my head down and continued walking to the seat Lisa, my best friend had reserved for me at the back of the bus next to her.

I gave her a faint smile to which she returned before we were interrupted by a masculine voice screaming at me, "Loser!" making many people murmur in silence. I wasn't exactly the popular type in school.

"Do you have some long lost sister or something?" Lisa asked me making me give her a confused look.

"What?" I questioned her wondering where that came from.

"I'll tell you after school," she simply replied. Who was she talking about?

AT SCHOOL
We arrived as I noticed one of the students flirting with my ex-boyfriend, Liam so I went to check it out. I saw her from her back as I noticed she had the same hair as me. Yes, I notice people's hair first, it's not that strange. I walked up to Liam, paying no attention to the girl. I give him a smile, trying to seem as moved on as possible.

"Hello Liam," I said. He had stared at me in the same way he did when we were together. It was like he never broke up with me until he got out of his head and sighed.

"Um, hey Pheobe. Is she your sister or something? " He asked with his British accent as the girl turned around and I noticed she looked exactly like me. The only difference was that she dressed a little more out there than I did with her tight, short, dark dress and leather jacket. But, am I supposed to look exactly like a complete stranger? I continued to look at her in awe.

"Well, hello you beautiful She-devil," she said with smirk, eyeing me up and down as though I was some sort of science experiment.

"Hi," I faintly responded, still in shock of what - who was in front of me.

"Well, I'm Ariana Preivah, and you much be-" she begun reaching her hand out to me but I cut her off.

"Pheobe," I simply said and reluctantly shook her hand making her give me a wide, but clearly fake smile and a small sigh.

"I've already heard so much. Your boyfriend here couldn't shut up about you," she added while Liam looked down at his feet, clearly embarrassed.  It was his idea to break-up. Apparently I was too boring and unexciting.

"Ex-boyfriend," I simply said giving Liam a small glare before he could notice I had been staring at him for the entire time as his head had remained down.  We hadn't really talked much after our breakup. It was too awkward for the both of us.

"Oooh. Ex....that's gotta hurt seeing as the girl who looks exactly like you wants to ask him out," She said while smirking at him, clearly trying to get under my nerves.

"You do? " He asked, his eyes widened with suprise and confusion.

"I do. Pick me up at six. I'll send you directions," she said. She smiled at him and placed a small kiss on his lips, ensuring that she was staring at me the whole time. She pulled away from him and gave him a wide smile. He gave me an awkward glare but chose to leave and not get into it.

She turned her attention back to me. "Meet me after school. I have something to show you," she said calmly. I didn't know exactly what to feel at that moment but I knew it hurt like hell. I still can't help but feel connected to her, well she does look exactly like me. I could undoubtedly feel a mixture of jealousy and embarrassment rage within my heart but could I act on it? No fucking way.

AFTER SCHOOL
I saw Ariana after school at the parking making jokes with a bunch of the popular kids. She's already made this big of an impression? It's her first day for crying out loud. I sighed and walked up to her, paying no attention to our other classmates' annoyance, including the boy who ridiculed me in the school bus earlier this morning.

"I need to borrow her for a second," I said, grabbing her hand to pull her away from them. She stopped me in annoyance for disturbing her.

"What's up, doppelganger?" she asked still annoyed.

"Explain. You said to meet you," I reminded her and shrugged.

"Ah, yes. Follow me into those deep, dark woods, if you dare, princess", she teased as she ran into the woods and I followed along to a large tree, losing its colour streamed up with streaks of grey across its barks. It had clearly been dying.

"You see that tree? " she asked asked pointing at the tree.

"Yeah, what's up with it? It's dying and should've been taken care of a little better,"  I said bluntly knowing the tree had only recently grown but wasn't taken care of very well so it decayed quickly.

"Why don't we speed the process up then? " she said with a smirk as  she turned her attention back to the dying tree. She placed her two hands onto the tree, whispering some strange words and finally stepped back to where I had been earlier.

"What am I supposed to be seeing?", I asked her, staring at her like she was some sort of lunatic. She rolled her eyes and grabbed my head to turn my attention back to the tree.

"This, Sofia the first,"  Ariana said as the tree started to appear completely grey, quickly losing all its colour until it whisped away into ashes withing a number if seconds. It was almost like she sped up it's dying process? What the hell?

I didn't know how to react to what I had seen so I tried to run without thinking about what was happening any further but noticed myself floating to stop my getaway. I couldn't believe it. I starred at the ground below me in disbelief of what was happening. I felt as though I was about to hurl.

"Just stay put and listen or else you'll make me do something you won't quite like," she said in a more serious tone than she was in before. I nodded in fear. She then gave me a fake smile and lowered me down, back to the ground.

As soon as that happened, I made a sigh of relief, looking at my feet touching the ground with a smile on my face. It quickly disappeared as I stared at her awaiting for an explanation, fearing that running would only lead to my death.

"I am what you are. A witch. Say, I'm you're long lost twin sister," she calmly said with a wink before flaring her fingers to open up a portal surrounded by blue streaks of fire. She walked into the portal not saying any more and leaving me in the middle of the woods in confusion wondering whether this is reality or I'm just dreaming. Am I a witch?

Suddenly my phone rang. It was Lisa so I answered the phone still in shock of what had conspired right before my eyes.

"Yeah, I just met her," I said before she could say anything else and quickly hung up. I suddenly found my knees fallen on to the ground as I questioned reality.

a.n: how's it?
