Soup's P.O.V.

The first day of school turned out a-okay. We lasted almost a whole week of jail. So now, I lay here in my bed on a Friday morning waiting for the sun to rise. It's been only a couple of days since I had that dream. Who knows when I'll have another one like it...?

Dream Sequence
-----------------------

Dawn approached on the horizon of Octo Valley. Many Octarians lived their lives in a safe environment...well...most of them. Life wasn't always the same back then as it is now. This place was in perfect shape before the great war started. Right now, I was lying down in the arms of my mom. I was just a small child. When I was little, I always wondered why she had a big belly. Well now I know. This was the time before Evan and Neveah were even born.

The smile upon my mom and dad's faces would always cheer me up the most.

"You think the lil' guy's going to choose the Squid guns or the Octo guns?" My dad asked. My dad would usually visit my mom whenever he could as long as he didn't get caught. He lasted a very long time.

"I think we'll let him decide." Mom smiled playing with my tiny fingers."But first, we'll have to see if he'll join the world of turf battling."

"You sure you okay with him leaving to travel into the world of Inkopolis, Ariel?"My dad asked.

My mom didn't say a single word."A-Ariel?" My dad asked again. "Yeah, I'm sure, hon bun...but how are we gonna pull this off? It's not gonna be easy."

"There's always another solution."

"I'm not sure if things will turn out okay, Reggie..." Mom sighed.

"Why are you so doubtful about this?"

"Well...it's just..."Mom hesitated trying to dodge the question. Instead, she answered anyway."I've been meaning to tell you this for a while now. I have a present for you. Two even!"

"So what are they?"

"You'll find out in 9 months!"

My father had a puzzled expression."So are you...shipping it over sea or..." he asked joking. My mom punched him in the arm."Quite it."she laughed.

"Heh, I'm just joking!"

My mom softly chuckled."I know you are!" She then kissed him on the cheek."I love you, Reggie!" My dad then spun her around twice."I love you too, Ariel!"

"I think we're gonna make this work! We're all going to be one big happy family!"

|Time Lapse(farther into the future)|

W-Where am I now? I was strapped tight in metal chains. The room where I was in was completely filled with red and purple lights. My hair had turned from cyan to Octarian purple. My heart started to beat fast knowing that I had no idea where I was.

"SCREEEEEEEEEEEECH!"

The mysterious sound of Octarians were heard but you could rarely hear them over the sound of metal being clashed together.

Oh no...now I know where I am...

This place was the house of horrors. It was the place near the Octarian's base where they would test experiments on captured squids. Sometimes, the Octarians would come here for other reasons.

Many Octarians escaped from the rising sea tides farther from Octo Valley and stayed here. Lives were lost then...

The sound of foot tapping was heard in the distance. The sound was getting louder and louder by the second. I...I've got to get out of here! I NEED TO END THIS DREAM RIGHT NOW!

A conversation between two Octarians was being heard. I tried my best to listen."How long are we supposed to keep the runt? How much longer do I have to deal with him, Octavia?!"

"I hate doing this job as much as you do, but we can't do anything about it. I've got something for you to do. Why don't you go check on the rest of the squid bodies, huh? You could totally do that."

"Maybe I will..."One Octarian said stomping off. He then stopped. His face slightly moved to the side just a little. Octavia had a smirk on her face."You don't want to do it do you? I'll do it myself. Don't activate the machine I tell you to, okay?"

The other Octarian folded his arms."Fine, but hurry back. This place stinks from all of the bodies!"

I then began to see an Octarian of a familiar image walk towards me. A silhouette of the person none other than Octavia was coming. A shiver flew down my spine. I began to feel a bit terrified.

"There's no reason to be scared, James." Octavia admitted. I stood there like an idiot in complete shock. I suddenly remembered something like this happening...

Octavia then whispered something to me."I'm gonna find a way to get you out of here. Tricking that rookie was step 1 of my plan. I'm sorry I got you into this mess."She then checked her surroundings to make sure no one was around."Now James, you have to listen to me carefully. What I'm about to tell you is something you're not gonna like."

"Could anything else be as bad as the situation I'm in now? Octavia, THIS IS CRAZY--" I shouted.

"Will you keep it down? You're gonna get us both caught!" Octavia whispered loud enough while covering my mouth.

"It's too late for that, don't you think?!"

Octavia flinched and turned around."T-Trevor! Didn't I tell you to wait until I came back?" She whimpered.

"I knew something was up! I heard every single word you said."He growled. Trevor walked up to her. He balled his fists in rage. Octavia was trembling with fear.

"Trev, I know I did wrong and I know I'm going to be severely punished for this, but don't hurt the kid! He did nothing wrong. He's innocent I tell you!"

"Don't try to protect him, Tav. He's a disgrace. Think about what you're doing before you make the wrong choice. Are you on the Inkling's side or our side?"

"Right now...I'm on my own side. Go ahead and kill me. I'd rather die and make a difference for once than live with the likes of you!"she growled. Octavia quickly stood up and grabbed Trevor's hand twisting it around karate style.

Trevor quickly pulled out his gun and inked the bottom of her feet. Trevor then stepped forward.

"I thought you would have changed your mind for the better."He pointed the gun to her chest. Octavia was trembling with fear. She closed her eyes ready for what was coming to her."You'll change it sooner or later!"

SPLAT!

"OCTAVIA!" I screamed. Octavia slowly fell to her knees motionless.

No...this can't be it...
I didn't move...
Not a single muscle...
I've got to be strong...
Octavia is brave and I will be too...
Start where you stand, Soup...
And move on ahead into the future...
The past is behind you now...
And there's no turning back...

"Say goodnight, Inkling!" Trevor said in a dead tone pointing his gun at me.

BAM!

End of Dream Sequence

"SOUP! SOUP! SOUP! YOU'VE GOTTA WAKE UP!"A feminine voice shouted.

"W-WHA?!"

I quickly looked around to see Riley inside my room again."Riley...I said I was fine, alright?" I exclaimed.

"Soup, this is the second time this has happened! Something's definitely wrong--"

"Why do you care so much about me, Riley?" I asked cutting her off."I'm fine!" Riley then hesitated and blushed. Her expression then turned into a frown."Y-You don't need my help? Fine. I'll leave you alone then..."

"W-Wait! That totally came out wrong--"

"No, It's okay. Goodnight." Riley said walking back into her room.

I can't just tell her about the nightmares I'm having. My past is coming back to haunt me and it could even affect my friends...especially Riley...

H-How long...can I keep this up? I'll just have to let the future decide on that....
