Lucas's P.O.V.
Later on that Day...

School was out and the weekend was coming. We all decided to take a break and just chill in our homes for the rest of the evening. I was in my room changing out of my school clothes. That was when I heard someone knock on my door.

KNOCK KNOCK!

"Just a second!" I shouted. I quickly changed into my plain white tee. I kept my shorts on. Opening my door, I saw my girlfriend.

"Hey, can I talk to you for a sec?"she asked."Sure, what's up?"

Mindy came into my room and sat on my bed. She had an unsure look on her face."It's about our relationship and battling. Yesterday, it was hard for the both of us to splat each other, but we can't let our relationship affect this."

"So...should we just go back to way things used to be? ...Like old times?"I asked. Mindy nodded her head."I suppose so. It won't be easy, but we'll just have to get used to it."

This has been something I've also thought about lately. I'm glad we had a talk about it too.

"Thanks, Lucas!"Mindy smiled as she gave me a kiss on the cheek. A blush then popped up on my face.

"Aww! Look at you! You blush so easily!"Mindy beamed.

Wait......has she always noticed this?

"Now I'm gonna go give my forms to my mom so she can sign them before it's too late. I'll be back soon!"she said as she walked out of the room. After our little discussion, Riley then came in a few minutes afterward."Hey big bro! Octavia said she needs to see you for a moment."

"Really? What for?"I asked idiotically. Riley shrugged."I don't know. Shouldn't you ask her that?" she asked as a rhetorical question walking out of my room.

Octavia's Room

"Okay...just one more pinch..."

"So...you mean to tell us that there are more hy--"

KNOCK KNOCK!

As I walked into the room, Neveah, Evan, and Octavia all had their eyes on me. Did I do something wrong? ....Is this an awkward moment?

"HI...HI LUCAS!" Neveah said sweat dropping with an awkward smile on her face. She placed her hand on Octavia's book shelf causing one of the book to fall.

"Real smooth, Nev's...That was awesome. Let's give you a gold star while we're at it."Evan mumbled rolling his eyes. Neveah shot him a stone-cold look.

"Should I...be in here right now? Should I go? I should go--" I said as I placed my hand on the door ready to leave out of here."No, you can stay. I just need to talk to you for a moment."Octavia exclaimed. I then started to get super worried. Usually when someone says that they need to talk to you, that usually means that it's bad news.

"Oh uh...sure thing..."I hesitated.

"But before I say anything, I need to ask one simple question."Octavia said.

Oh boy...

"It's about you and your friends. And be truthful about this too. You, Neveah, Evan, Sharl, Mindy, Riley, and Soup have all taken a bit of the rainbow ink, yes? "

I nodded my head."Yeah, to help save my life, right?"

"Yep. Now take a look at the computer screen for just a sec." Octavia added. She then pointed at a white Windows computer in front of her. As I closely looked at the computer, I saw a red flash."Now I want you to stand right there and hold that pose as long as you can."

"What are you doing?" I asked idiotically.

"Just stand still. There's no time for trivial questions. Neveah, can you hand me the ink sac that you've used recently? The sky blue one." Neveah passed her the fresh ink sac. Octavia typed something on her computer.

CLICK CLICK CLICK!

"Okay now Evan, I want you to mix this up with my remaining purple ink. Try not to go too slow or it won't work." I looked at what Evan was doing. He was mixing up a bowl filled with ink. Octavia continued to type."This could actually work..."she mumbled.

Octavia pulled out what seemed to be a red pepper."Here, eat this."

"Are you squidding me?!" I asked looking directly at it."Isn't there an easy or faster way to do this?"

"I'm still working on that. Just do it."

"I'd rather not..."

"Lucas, I need you to do this now. And I mean right now! Just pretend that it's a...an octoball. A juicy, delicious, spicy, tender....sad...innocent...octoball..."

I just stood there like an idiot and sweat dropped."Uh...Octavia?"

Neveah and Evan looked at me and shook their heads. I figured that I shouldn't ask her what's wrong.

"....I-I'm okay..."Octavia said."Let's just get this over with, okay? Eat this and try to hold it in for 10 seconds. Don't swallow it either. Your mouth has to be spicy hot in order to complete this."

I shoved the pepper in my mouth. At least 7 seconds passed when tears started to form in my eyes.

8...9...10!

"Okay, now hold still." Octavia added. She grabbed a tiny piece of paper and took a teardrop falling off of my face."Now I'm gonna need a sample of your saliva."

My eyes widened in shock."E-Excuse me?"

"Just spit the pepper out." Octavia demanded. I then spit the pepper out. It landed right on my hands. The Octarian pulled out a pair of gloves."Okie doke! I'm almost done! Give me five more minutes. It's hard to get used to the Squid tech around here."

"Here's a glass of milk. Don't worry, I didn't drink it."Neveah smiled. I quickly chugged it all down my throat."You're lucky I had some Oreo cookies before I came back to my dorm room, or you would've been walking around with a hot mouth. So, how was the first week of school for you?"

"Pretty good, I guess. It's very different from Squidville."I answered.

"Is that the place where you moved from?"Neveah asked. I eyes her and shot her a puzzled look."How'd you know if I moved from there or not?"

"One, you just admitted that you moved from there and two, ask Riley. That girl's a real chatter box!" Neveah beamed."School was amazing for me and Evan! I guess we could give the squids a second chance perhaps..."

"School sounds fun, Neveah."Octavia smiled. Neveah then had starry eyes."YOU SHOULD TOTALLY COME!"

Octavia then stopped typing and turned around with a shocked face."Me? But I can't do that. What if my first day turns out to be a disaster?!"

"You'll never know until you try!" Neveah admitted. Octavia then blinked and turned back around in her chair. "Okay, I'm done for now, Lucas. I'll let you know when I need you again. The reason why I needed you is to make a cure."

"A cure for what...?"

Octavia pointed at the computer screen."See for yourself." An image of an average human and squid body was seen. The image was a picture of me. "This is a picture of you. Your temperature levels are normal which is a sweet relief. But due to my calculations, something's just not right. The rainbow ink that you used may effect your body in various of ways. Can you press the button, Evan?"

Evan pressed a red button. The picture changed to show my body covered in purple ink. It wasn't just any purple. It was a deep shad of Octarian purple."Lucas, you can't use the rainbow ink again. Not for a long time."

"What?! But why?"

"Well for one, your body can't maintain that kind of ink. And second, we don't know what true power the ink can possess. I'm sorry, but that's just the way this has to be. Please understand..."

BEEP! BEEP! SCRITCH!

"What's going on?" I asked. The computer screen was having a glitch. It shut off in a blink of an eye.

SCREEREREREEER SCRITCH!

"Oh no...no no no! My research!" Octavia shouted. All of her work was completely gone in an instant. After what just happened, Octavia put her head on the keyboard."You've gotta be kidding me..."

"Tav, you need a break. You've done enough already."said Evan.

Octavia sighed."Yeah...I guess so..."

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Neveah pulled her phone out. She had a new message and was bursting with joy after reading it."Speaking of breaks! OH MY GOSH! WE'RE HAVING ANOTHER SPLAT FEST TONIGHT! C'mon, you guys! We've got to get ready!"
