Looking around the destroyed lab, Kuro was thinking of his next move. He was trying to figure out how long he has been trapped in this place, he began to snoop around the various objects scattered across the ground and soon came across a device that gave him the general layout of where he was.

Kuro: Good, I seem to have my way out. I just need to make my way down to the spinal phase. That's apparently my ticket out of here. But...I'm sensing something, it's chaos energy.

Kuro remembered that as the ultimate life-form, he's naturally able to tap into the arcane powers of nearby gems called Chaos Emeralds, either through physical contact or from a distance, to empower himself and access different chaos powers. Going off of that, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to say he could sense chaos energy nearby.

Kuro: I better get moving, I'm wasting my time here.

Without saying another word, Kuro sped out of the lab and into the corridors, as he looked around while he skated at high speeds. He couldn't help but notice that it looked like he was in a subway of some sort, but that surely couldn't be the case considering how advanced everything around him looked.

As he kept going he began to see mechs everywhere near a room. And the energy he sensed was getting stronger. That alone told him everything he needed to know. And when the mechs saw him, they began to shoot at him. But he kept going as the bullets didn't really affect him, he zipped past while simultaneously destroying them with zero effort before stopping outside the door where the emerald was.

Kuro: So that's where it is. I'll just take that emerald and leave this place.

He soon busted down the door and looked around as he saw what he was looking for. A green gemstone placed in a glass-like vault. As Kuro began to walk forward, he stopped in his tracks and looked upward. Only to see a giant mech drop down in an attempt to crush him.

"INTRUDER IDENTIFIED: KURO AKUMA. MUST ELIMINATE."

Kuro: G.U.N tech....so I suppose taking everything from me and killing my best friend wasn't enough for them huh? They had to take it a step further by locking me down here and preventing me from escaping with extra precautions like this....!

Kuro said as he gritted his teeth in anger, his red eyes glowing a bright red as red lightning crackled around him for a quick second.

Kuro: I'll tear every last one of these thing apart before I ever submit to the likes of you...you damned insect.

The mech would begin to fly up into the air before shooting downward towards the Ultimate Life Form with its equipped machine gun.

Kuro: Hmph...!

Kuro simply sped around in a circle in order to dodge the bullets, after a few rounds wasted; the mech flew down before it opened the missile bays. It then shot the missiles towards Kuro.

He smirked before he opened his mouth.

Kuro: Chaos. . .Control!

Time stopped. Everything except for Kuro stopped moving. Even the mech and missiles it shot out.

Kuro: 'It's time to end this. . .'

He shot up into the air before releasing yellow lightning constructs aimed at the mech from all directions before kicking the missiles back towards the mech.

And to finish it off, he landed a barrage of punches and kicks on the machine, leaving very visible dents.

Kuro: It's over.

He snapped his fingers as time resumed. The spear constructs made contact with the mech as they all lodged themselves into the mech from all directions before the missiles upon making contact, blew up. All the while Kuro stood there with his arms crossed, looking at his handiwork.

As the smoke cleared, there was nothing left of the mech aside from the scattered pieces scattered around the room. Now with that small nuisance out of the way, he began to make his way towards the green chaos emerald before punching the protective glass and shattering it before taking the emerald.

Kuro: There you are...

Kuro: That's one out of six I assume. If that cursed organization had this one locked up for who knows how long then it it's safe to say they probably did the same for others. Though they made one mistake, placing the emerald in the same place they placed me.

Kuro: With this emerald...I can complete my revenge...Maria.

Now that he had the chaos emerald getting to the spinal phase should be fairly easier now. At least he wouldn't have to deal with anymore enemies.

Suddenly, he heard more mechs appear as he turned around. They must've had more security locked away in case he ever escaped the pod.

Kuro: Might as well show off a bit. I don't know if that organization is still around or not but hey, I don't mind rubbing this in. You've all failed to keep me contained down here, and it'll backfire on you dearly.

He then got into a stance as he and the emerald began to glow.

Kuro: Farewell!

In a bright flash, Kuro vanished from the room as the mechs scanned the area before they all scattered across the metro. Looking for the human who escaped.

Kuro would then appear in a vastly spacious area with a huge construct in the middle of it all. It honestly looked like an elevator. Though the real question was how he was going to get to the platform he was currently standing on to the one all the way over there where the entrance was. Well honestly, he could just use the over function in his air shoes but there was also a rail he could go on.

He took the rail.

Once he made it to the other side, he made it to the entrance of the elevator and went up a level. Once he got off, he looked around and noticed a very tall ladder, following it upward he realized.

Kuro: That's my ticket out.

"TARGET SPOTED. ENGAGING WITH THE HUMAN NOW."

Kuro: What now?

A large, hovering, battle mech suddenly appeared in front of Kuro, blocking the exit as it did. It wielded an area-of-effect particle beam cannon and several rocket launchers on its side, which could be broken off and used against it.

Kuro should know since he fought something similar the day Maria died. The only difference was that the one he fought was a dark grey while the one he's seeing now was a dark blue.

Kuro: Another one huh? Let's make this quick, I have places to be.

The battle mech began to fly into the air as it started to drop bombs, prompting Kuro to skate around in order to dodge the oncoming attack. Though he didn't notice that the mech was also charging up the canon during this.

As Kuro jumped into the air and began to use homing attacks to destroy the rocket launchers before kicking it downward towards the ground. He finally noticed that the battle mech was charging up the canon, or well he noticed right when it was done.

"PERISH."

The canon suddenly shot forward as all Kuro could do was put his arms in an x formation and attempt to block the attack.

Kuro: 'Shit...!'

*BOOOOOOOOM!!!!*

A giant explosion formed upon making contact.

"TARGET: KURO AKUMA HAS BEEN ELIMINATED. THREAT NEUTRALIZED."

Kuro: As if I'd ever die to the likes of you...you damn insect!

A red flash would suddenly zip towards the battle mech as Kuro was landing a barrage of punches and kicks, causing a bunch of dents to form from the damage.

Kuro: TAKE THIS! HYAAHHHHH!!!!

He then launched it high into the air with an uppercut, a red flash of lightning crackling around his fist as he suddenly vanished. It was so high that it went out through the whole that served as the exit to the surface. As it was in the air, Kuro suddenly appeared on top of it as he began to glow a dark reddish hue.

Kuro: 'This move I'm about to use would destroy anything in a given radius. So I must be aware of what's around me.'

Kuro: Chaos.....

He glowed even more.

Kuro: BLAST!!!!!!

*SHA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!*

A bright red blast of highly powerful chaos energy suddenly appeared for all to see, it damn near covered the sky, so any inhabitants in the nearby city would and could see it. When the blast died down, nothing was left of the battle mech. It was obliterated.

As Kuro slowly hovered back down to land panting a bit. He finally noticed his surroundings.

Kuro: I finally did it...I'm finally out.

He then looked up at the night sky as he looked at all the glowing stars and noticed how...beautiful it looked.

Kuro: 'Maria would have loved to see this. . .'

He looked down with the thought as he tightened his fist. He looked towards the nearby city lights. That was where he needed to go, so he could get answers.

Little would he know, was that the time of humans have ended years ago. And now...a new species roamed the earth.

Kuro: Let's get moving....

AN: Man I had fun writing this chapter. And I'm not going to lie, writing this has relit a fire within me to continue Heroes of Time as well. Now I will admit, that some parts felt a bit rushed but aside from that. I can say that I'm proud of how this turned out. I also wanted to add some fights in between because the way I see it, G.U.N. Would have made some extra precautions and added some extra security to keep him contained in that pod. Anyway, I'll see you guys later. Have a good rest of your day/night✌🏾
