Chapter 58
Chapter 58
Beep
Beep
Beep
White opened her eyes and thought that she was hearing an alarm clock beeping. Her vision cleared up and she noticed a heart monitor next to the bed she was laying in.
She remembered bits and pieces of what happened after she went through the white door. She had woken up here, in this room. White remembered not being able to breathe properly, and that doctors had rushed her to the Emergency Room. She couldn't remember anything after that.
A loud clattering noise and a yelp broke from the corner of her room as White straightened up. She looked around at the corner and saw Amos. He had been sitting in a chair next to her bed. Her sudden movement must had startled him, and he had fallen out of the chair.
"What are you doing down there?" White asked jokingly.
Amos blushed and stood up hurriedly. She smirked as she saw how red his face was getting.
"What was that for?!" He snapped furiously.
"I didn't know you were in the room," growled White, laying back down and staring at the ceiling. "Why are you here anyway? What happened after I was temporarily 'dead'? Where's everyone else?"
She turned her head to watch Amos. He looked a little reluctant to tell her the truth.
"Well," he started slowly. "Everyone's pretty much scattered around."
"Spit it out already."
"Fine, Leia went to the Pokemon League, Hugh went back home, Mira is here in the hospital as well, and no one knows where Sky Blue is."
"What?"
"He just... kind of disappeared. He visited you while you were asleep, but he didn't stay very long."
"Why?"
"Well the cops kinda showed up..."
"WHAT?!" yelled White, wincing slightly as she bolted up right. "What for?!"
She saw Amos flinch and stiffen. He must have been expecting her to hit him or something. But even if she wanted to hit him, she couldn't really do it without hurting herself. Amos looked at the closed door before speaking.
"They heard that you were here, and they wanted to take you back to prison as soon as you woke up." Amos explained hurriedly. "They also tried to arrest your brother and Sky, so both of them had to go and hide on the nearby routes. I think N might come back, but I'm not so sure about Sky though. He only has a broken ankle, but it was pretty serious. He might just lie low for a bit until his name's clear."
"So I'm confused, where are the cops?" She asked nervously.
"Back at the police station I suppose. Cheren and Professor Juniper are over there."
"Professor Juniper is here too?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"I don't know why, she just showed up at the last minute!"
"Well that clears that up!" White snarled sarcastically.
They fell in an awkward silence. White noticed that Amos hadn't relaxed his muscles yet.
"What are you doing?" She asked shrewdly.
"I'm waiting for you to hit me..."
"Why would I do that?"
"Because of what I said, remember?"
White gave him a confused look until she realized what he was talking about. She blushed a little as she remembered how Amos had admitted his feelings.
"Oh that," she muttered, pulling the covers up over herself. She didn't want to let Amos see her blush like crazy.
"I wouldn't blame you if you beat me up..." White heard Amos say quietly.
"Amos, I'm gonna be honest, I thought I was gonna die, so I wanted to die with a clean slate." She admitted, peeking out from behind the covers. "I'm not about to punch you because you love me. And please don't tell anyone this, but you're probably the first guy I've actually loved back."
White smirked as she saw Amos blush even harder. She stifled a giggle and pulled the blanket back over her head. She wanted to change the subject, but she could think of nothing to talk about.
"So why did Hugh go home?" She asked quickly.
"He got his little sister's Purrloin back," replied Amos, looking just as relieved as she felt. "He apparently beat that one Shadow Triad member. The guy released the Liepard and left."
"Glad to hear it," White commented. "Now tell me, did any of you bring back Amycus' body?"
The silence seemed more awkward then before. Amos looked a little surprised at her calm tone.
"I went back for it," he said awkwardly after a moment. "It's been kept at the Pokemon Center. We weren't sure if you wanted to bury him yourself or not..."
"I want to bury him myself," she growled. "He's my pokemon, and he deserves a proper send off."
White bit her lip as she remembered Amycus in the dream.
It wasn't a dream though, was it? She thought, It seemed too real...
"You're going to leave Unova, aren't you?"
White peeked out of the covers and looked at Amos. He was watching her with a pained expression.
"What?" She asked quietly.
"You're going to leave the region," he repeated. "If you get your name cleared and you make a full recovery, you're going to leave Unova, aren't you?"
White sighed and sat up straight. The thought had entered her head, and she was thinking about going to Kanto. Her family's graves were there, and possibly the secrets of her parents' past.
"I've considered it," she told him. "You don't expect me to stay here after everything that's happened, do you?"
"No, it's just that... I don't know what to do now."
"What do you mean?"
"Well... Leia is challenging the Pokemon League, and she can go challenge the other ones. Hugh was actually given an offer for being one of Professor Juniper's assistant. I've traveled with them for most of my journey, and now I'm not sure what I want to do..."
"There's all sorts of things you can do," said White. "There's contests, the musicals in Nimbassa City, and there's also the movie studios in Virbank City. You can also go to the other regions and see what they have to offer."
White smiled a little as she remembered how she wanted to be a coordinator when she was little. She had trained and studied about it, but Raichu hadn't been up to it. She had toyed with the idea when she got a little older, but she never tried to become on.
"White, what do you want to do with your life?" Amos suddenly asked.
"What?"
"Well I know you're not gonna make a profession as an outlaw."
"I guess that's true," she grunted. "The only profession I'm interested in is out of the question. If I tried joining the military, N would just drag me back. Besides, I can't join the FBI either, can I?"
"Guess not..."
For the first time since she woke up, White noticed the numb feeling in her frost bitten arm. She looked down at it and shrieked. She heard Amos yelp as she screamed with terror.
Her arm was gone. There was nothing left except for a stump. It was replaced by a black, mechanical, skeletal like arm.
White's breathing became shallow as she stared at it.
"T-They had to remove it to increase your chance of survival!" stuttered Amos. "Y-You would've died if they didn't take it off!"
She felt the tears sting her eyes as she began to cry. It was going to be like relearning how to walk. Taking her arm off was one thing, but replacing it with a cold metal one was too much.
White felt Amos sit next to her as she wiped her eyes with her real arm. She gave a small sob and began to cry into his chest. Amos didn't stiffen or show any sign of reluctance. He put his arms around her and held her close.
She felt safe for the first time in what felt like ages. White then began to think about the one big difference that kept them from dating. Amos was four years younger than White, and most people would probably say that White was too old for Amos. But she's heard of men who were almost six years younger than their wives, and they were perfectly happy.
The door suddenly swung open, and they broke apart immediately. N was standing in the doorway, his gaze fixed on the two of them. White yelped and Amos got off the bed and backed away from her.
"What in the name of Arceus are you doing?!" He snapped furiously, looking from White to Amos.
"N-Nothing..." stammered White, giving Amos a desperate look.
"I-I'll come back later," she heard Amos mutter as he walked toward the open door. White saw N give him the death glare as he walked past him.
Once Amos left the room, N slammed the door shut and locked it. White pulled the covers over herself for what felt like the sixtieth time as N opened the blinds on the window behind her bed. She was furious at her brother, but she couldn't blame him for being overprotective. She had almost died, and had probably gave him a heart attack. Now he had just walked in on his sister being unnaturally close to a boy he barely knew.
White yelped as N threw the covers off her head. She tried pulling them back over herself, but he just threw them off again.
"Natural!" White spat, pulling the covers back.
"I need these out of the way!" growled N.
White glared at her brother as she let him pull the sheets back so it was up to her chest. She shuddered as she saw the cold metal arm sticking out from the sleeve of her gown.
"How am I supposed to use this?" White demanded after a moment, cocking her head toward the metal arm.
"You have to use your mind," he replied, sitting in the chair next to her bed as he opened a small container.
"What?" She snapped shrewdly.
"You have to use your mind to move that arm."
"How do I do that?"
"Just try!"
She scowled but tried to move her arm. She felt stupid as she thought about flexing the metal fingers. She heard a very light scrapping noise as the fingers twitch against the blanket.
"See?"
"Oh shut up!"
N smirked at White as he began dabbing something on the cut on her cheek. The cut stung the second the ointment touched it. She clutched at the blanket a little and growled.
"I know this hurts, but it's going to help the cuts heal," N told her.
"Yeah, right," snarled White.
Her brother sighed and set the ointment container on the bedside table next to her bed. White noticed that he had small cuts all over his arms, and one side of his face was bruised. Either no one else noticed that he was hurt or he refused to have anyone check on him.
"White, I'm so sorry about all of this," N told her quietly. "I didn't think this would get so out of hand."
"Well it did," she replied in a growl. "It cost pretty much everything I had. My Pignite is dead, my arm is gone, my friends are injured and probably scarred for life, and the grunts destroyed my personal treasures to pieces, like my guitar."
"But look at the bright side-"
"Bright side?!" White rasped angrily, talking over N. "Tell me what the bright side is! Go on, tell me!"
"You got Raichu back!" answered N. "You made friends, which I find that amazing! And even though Amycus, well.... passed on, no one else died..."
Her brother hesitated at this, and White understood why. He must have been remembering when she was temporarily dead.
"Whitney... I was so scared when they told me that you were dead," N whispered after a minute. "I am so, so sorry for everything I did. I-I made you a promise, and I broke it..."
She saw his eyes begin to water as he looked at the floor. White straightened up and moved a little closer to him. She put her real arm around him gently and rested her head on his shoulder. N gave a small sob and hugged her tightly, more tightly then he ever had. White sniffed and buried her face in his shoulder.
They didn't say anything for awhile. Both of them seemed to be thinking about what could've happened if hadn't been for sheer luck (and a second chance from Yahweh). They had almost been separated from each other for good, and White didn't like to face that fact.
"Natural," croaked White after a moment, breaking away from N so she could look at his face. "I want to know the truth. I want to know what happened after you left me."
"What do you mean?"
"I want to know what you did after you started living with Ghetsis."
N stiffened a little as she said this. He must have been trying to forget that he had once lived with the man who had tried to take over the world.
"I tried to find you," N finally sighed. "I was treated like royalty, but I didn't feel right being treated like that while you were still in the forest. The only problem was that I was forbidden to leave the castle. Ghetsis always had someone with me, even when I got older. He had guards outside my room all the time. But when I heard about the forest fire, I knew I had to leave."
White frowned. She understood exactly what must have happened. She could imagine a young N standing in the burnt remains of the forest that had once been their home.
"I finally found a way to get out of the castle, so I ran away and found my way back to the forest. B-But you weren't there, a-and I thought..."
White bit her lip and leaned against N's chest. The tears stung her eyes, but she pushed them back. She had to stay strong.
"M-My only hope was that you survived the fire and found a new home," he then choked. "I-I never stopped looking for you. When I was allowed to leave the castle, I started searching for you. I-I never found you, but I n-never stopped searching. I-It was w-worse when my coronation came. I-I missed you so much, I even considered running away. I didn't want to be king, I knew I would become the enemy the second that stupid crown touched my head. A-And I was right..."
N's breathing was becoming shallow. White closed her eyes and let the tears pour down. Shame was welling up in her chest. She wanted to take back ever spiteful word she had ever said to her older brother. She wanted it all gone.
"I-I never stopped loving you," White croaked after a moment. "You know that right?"
N didn't reply. White took it to mean that he didn't know.
"Natural Harmonia Gropius," she said quietly, putting both her real and metal arm on his shoulders. She felt him flinch as she said the name Harmonia.
"You're my big brother. My bubby. I will never leave you. You're all I have left."
White remembered saying the exact same words when the two of them had been trapped in the little cave all those many years ago. She saw him give a small smile, but it quickly faded.
"But I broke my p-promise..." he stuttered.
"What promise?" White asked, frowning slightly.
"I-In the cave, I promised to never leave you..."
She sighed and tried not to smile. She was surprised that he still remembered that. White then remembered all the things that Yahweh told her. If anyone had the right to know what had happened in the coma, it was N.
"N, something happened in my coma that changed me," White hissed in a hushed tone. "You could say I went... to heaven and back again."
White told him everything that happened in the coma. He didn't say anything until she was finished. She had forgotten about how good of a listener he was.
"Let me get this straight," said N after she finished speaking. "In just a few hours, you saw a fight between God and the Devil, you met pretty much all your dead friends and our family, and came back to tell the tale?"
She smirked and nodded. She didn't expect him to believe him. N would probably accuse her of being insane. But she was surprised by his response.
"Does...does our family hate me? Do they hate me for leaving you?"
N's voice sounded strained. He reminded her of a child seeking reassuring that his parents still loved him. White felt so sorry for him.
"They aren't angry," she reassured him in a whisper. "They love you. Ray told me to tell you that everything is 'cool' between you two."
White smiled as N relaxed a little. She settled back down under the blankets again as her brother reached for the ointment. N started to take care of her wounds and gave her the medicine that the doctors had advised her to take. White did not protest against the treatment, but she would occasionally make small noises of pain or disgust because of the medicine.
After an hour or so, N put the medicine away as White stared blankly at the wall. She wouldn't last a month concealed alone in the hospital. It was torture to her.
"I'll come back later," N was saying as he prepared to leave. "You need to rest right now."
"Don't go!"
N's hand was inches away from the door's handle as White cried out.
"What?" He asked quietly.
White sniffed and hid her face in the blanket.
"I-I don't want you to leave yet," she gasped. "I-I don't want to be alone..."
Her brother watched her for a minute before moving away from the door. He sat next to her and put his arms around her. White choked out a sob and buried her face in his chest.
N let White cry quietly, never moving away from her. She pressed her body against his. She felt much safer with her older brother.
"Whitney?" whispered N after a bit.
"Yeah?"
"When you said you forgave me, did you really mean it?"
White lifted her head up a little and looked into his face. She saw the tears continuing to fall down his face.
"I was never more serious about anything." White whispered back.
"Do you think we'll be able to start over again?" He then asked. "Can we try and give it another go?"
"Absolutely," She replied. "But please don't leave me until I'm allowed out of the hospital, ok?"
"Deal," he answered, smiling as he hugged her.
White grinned and leaned her head against his chest. Even though she had woken up just a few hours ago, White was already exhausted. N still didn't leave as sleep began to overtake her.
I forgave you for what you did to me, Natural Gropius, White thought as she surrendered to sleep, so why don't you forgive yourself?
But White still felt overjoyed for the first time in ages.

(PLEASE READ A/N)
#WHIMOS
Yes, I still approve of Whimos. Throughout this book, I've noticed most people approve more of WhiteXSky than WhiteXAmos, but those two shippings will be settled later on...
THIS IS THE LAST ACTUAL CHAPTER OF SPITE WITHOUT SHAME!!!! NEXT CHAPTER WILL BE THE EPILOGUE!!!! JUST A WARNING!!!!
vvv MUST READ!!! vvv
Now I have a surprise, and I'm sure most of you knew it was coming...
After the Epilogue...
I WILL BE STARTING THE SEQUEL!!!!!!!!! *throws confetti*
YES. I WILL NOT STOP HERE. But I do have a problem. I need to ask my readers a few questions before I start the sequel! I'm asking some of these questions in advance so I know what I'm doing when I finish the Epilogue. I NEED these answered, so PLEASE help me out!
vvv QUESTIONS vvv
(There are only two questions)
First Question: Which game plot would you want the sequel to go along with; Pokemon X and Y or Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire?
There are a few differences between the sequel storylines depending on which game is chosen. Either way, two new characters will be added to the story no matter which game plot is chosen. BUT, one other character will be added if Pokemon X and Y is chosen. The beginning of the story will not be effected by the game plot, so I will not need OR&AS to write the beginning if it's chosen.
Second Question: Which characters would you want to return for the sequel?
Characters like White, N, and Amos will be returning for the sequel. The one character I'm not sure will be returning is Hugh, so I need your opinion on the characters like Sky Blue, Mira, Hugh, and Leia.
^^^ END OF QUESTIONS ^^^
^^^
Ok, that part is down. Again, please give me your opinion for the sequel. I hate it when no one gives me their opinions :(
So on the subject of N: I repeat, N doesn't have a religion so I won't upset the non Christian/Catholic readers. You may choose which religion he has. Another thing, unless N does another stupid thing, I would love it if we could keep our dislike comments down a bit. N isn't a bad person. Thank you.
I think that's all. If not, I'll add it later. So good night! Please vote and share your thoughts! Thanks for reading guys! Night!
