Chapter 30
Chapter 30
(P.S. This will possible be the only time where it's Sky Blue's view/flashback. Like Archy, he may have his views a few more times, but the book is made up of Amos's and White's views)
"Aero, Rock Slide!" Sky Blue yelled as the Team Plasma's Watchog slammed into his Areodactyl's chest.
Aero screeched and sent boulders flying everywhere, landing on the pokemon below. The Watchog screeched and leapt away from the flying boulders.
"Tiny, Psychic!" White's voice cried as another Watchog slashed at a Espeon.
"Keep doing Cut!" a male Plasma grunt yelled at his Watchdog.
"Do the same! Don't let them up the stairs!" another grunt ordered.
Tiny gave a shriek and shot a light pink pulse flying everywhere. The two Watchog yowled and fell to the ground with a thud.
"No! We failed! We have to retreat!" one grunt yelled at the other.
"Then don't stand there, RUN!" the other screamed, and the two grunts pelted toward a large staircase.
Sky Blue wheezed and felt something lean against him. His best friend and secret crush, White, had limped over to him, looking exhausted. Her Espeon, Tiny, hissed at him and started to snap at his Areodactyl.
"You ok?" he wheezed, putting his arm around her shoulder.
White was panting hard, but managed to nod. "I think I'm fine," she gasped.
The two of them had followed two other kids to the pokemon league to try and retrieve the White Stone they carried. But not until a hour or two ago did they realize that White's older brother, N, had beaten the Elite Four and Champion, and was able to raise the headquarters of Team Plasma.
To their displeasure, one of the friends of the two kids, Bianca, had gathered almost all the gym leaders and brought them to the castle like headquarters. While the gym leaders were fighting the Seven Sages, Sky Blue and White had followed the other two trainers toward the stairs. Unfortunately, the kids had made it farther than them.
"You were too slow! I can fight my own battles faster than you!" Tiny was sneering at Aero.
The Areodactyl glared at her and snapped, "Look who's talking! Your the one who didn't obey orders!"
"Do you think there are anymore guards?" White said quietly.
"I doubt it," said Sky, helping White up the staircase that the grunts had ran up. She nodded, but collapsed and grabbed onto the railing for support.
"Are you sure you don't want to go back?" he asked her as she stood up, shaking slightly. "You haven't been sleeping well, and you have been very tired."
This was true. White was very sick for a thirteen year old girl, and kept having nightmares. Sky would hear her whisper and cry in her sleep, and then she would wake up screaming.
White's eyes were closed, but she shook her head. "I have to go on." she finally hissed. "I need to. I need to see him."
Sky Blue sighed and took Tiny's pokeball from her hand. Once he had returned Aero and Tiny to their pokeballs, Sky bent down and helped White up. He adjusted his glasses before helping her up the stairs, letting his friend lean on him.
When they made it to the top, White swayed and collapsed to the floor again. She wheezed and Sky knelt down next to her.
"White, maybe you should go back! You're, well, not weak, but you're not feeling the best." He said hesitantly as White tried standing up. Saying the word "weak" was not the best thing to say in front of her.
She glared at him and leaned against the railing. "I'm not turning back unless I have to." she hissed angrily. "I have come this far. I'm not turning back."
"You might have to if you keep going like this! Look at the stat of you! You probably won't have the strength to fight your brother!" Sky protested, just as angry.
"I don't care!" She snapped. "I've lived by myself for a year before meeting you, almost died in a forest fire, and had to steal to survive because of him!"
He didn't bother arguing. Once her mind is set on something, there is no way she backs out of it.
"Who are you two?" a girl's voice asked.
Sky Blue turned around to see two women standing in the hall. They looked like they were in their late teens, only a few years older than him and White. One had blond braided hair and the other had straight pink hair.
"Who are you?" Sky Blue growled rudely.
The two women exchanged looks before the blonde one said, "I'm Concordia, and this is my sister, Anthea."
Before Sky could say another word, someone yelled, "DI-DI!"
White had stood up and had tossed one of her pokeballs at the two women. All weakness seemed to vanish from her. She had a look of pure hatred and loathing on her face.
"White, what are you-" Sky yelled, but White had already screamed. "Hydro Pump!"
Di-Di squeaked but the pump of water seemed to have bounced off a large bubble around her target. Anthea and Concordia had sent out a Gardevoir and a Gothitelle, who had used Protect against the Hydro Pump.
"Jo Jo, stop the battle!" shouted Sky, and he threw a pokeball into the fighting pokemon.
"Psychic!" the two girls cried as Di-Di continued to spray the Psychic types with water.
"Di-Di, Protect!"
"ElectroWeb!"
The Gorebyss curled up and a small bubble surrounded her. Sky's Joltik was spinning a large web, separating the Gardevoir and Gothitelle from Jo Jo and Di-Di.
"White, what's the big deal?!" Sky Blue yelled at her as the pokemon tried to break through the web.
"They have replaced me as N's sister!" She screamed. "Ghetsis told me when I battled him that maybe N didn't want me anymore because of my replacements! He gave me the names of my brother's foster sisters, and I have been searching for them since!"
"What do you mean by his sister?" Anthea's voice demanded.
The web had split in two and Concordia and Anthea had gotten through. The pokemon were still fighting each other. They didn't seem to notice anything.
White hissed and stepped away from the two women.
"I'm N's real sister! I'm his younger sister! He left me when I was five and I haven't seen him since! I have just recently discovered where he has been, and have been trying to face him!" White shouted before Sky could explain.
"You must be mistaken!" Concordia stammered.
"But, Concordia, look! It's the same color!" Anthea whispered anxiously, and pointed at White's green and brown hair.
"B-But we never knew!" squeaked Concordia, "Honest! N never told us that he had a sibling! We all thought he was an only child!"
"Gothitelle! Gardevoir! Stop!" Anthea cried as Di-Di was slammed into a wall by the Gothitelle's Psychic attack.
But the pokemon seemed to enraged to take any notice. Jo Jo seemed to have given up on stopping the battle, and started shocking everything she touched. Di-Di was constantly spraying pumps of water at the Gradevoir and Gothitelle, and they were sending pink pulses anywhere.
"Jo Jo, get back here!" Sky bellowed at the Joltik. Jo Jo suddenly leapt off Gradevoir's head, and landed on Sky's shoulder.
Unfortunately, Jo Jo seemed to be the only one listening to its trainer. White, Anthea, and Concordia had no luck with the Gorebyss, Gothitelle, and Gardevoir. Gothitelle seemed to realize that its trainer was calling it and retreated back. Gardevoir and Di-Di were now the only pokemon fighting.
"Gardevoir, please stop!" Concordia cried as her pokemon started using Magical Leaf. Di-Di wailed in pain as the razor sharp leaves cut into her skin.
"Di-Di, would you live the Gardevoir be and get out of there?!" screamed White. Neither of the pokemon noticed.
"MAKE IT STOP!" Di-Di wailed as Gardevoir used Magical Leaf again. Sky Blue remembered that he and White were the only ones who could hear the pokemon's voices.
"GO AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK!" the Gardevoir screeched as the Gorebyss gave another wail of pain.
"WHITE, NO!" Sky bellowed as White suddenly slammed Di-Di away from the enraged Gardevoir. Di-Di slid across the floor and fainted, but White was screaming as more leaves cut at her.
"STOP, GARDEVOIR, STOP!" Concordia wailed. Anthea was now yelling at the Gardevoir, and Sky could even hear Gothitelle yelling at its companion. But there was only one thing Sky Blue could think of that would save his friend.
He yelled and blocked White from the leaves that were zooming toward her. The next thing he felt was an agonizing pain on the right side of his face. He felt his glasses shatter. It felt like half of his face had froze.
Sky Blue screamed and fell to the ground. He felt blood rush from the side of face. His head spun as he heard the girls scream.
"SKY BLUE!" White shrieked and he felt her kneel next to him.
Sky yelled as she tried to touch his face. His entire face felt like it was on fire.
"I'm sorry!" he heard Concordia wail. "Gardevoir didn't mean it to happen!"
Sky whimpered as White tried to help him up. He didn't open his eyes. It would hurt to much. His eyes already stung like crazy.
"Thundrus!" yelled White, and he was sure she had sent out the large legendary pokemon. Sky felt something large scoop him up from off the ground.
"We're gonna get help! Don't worry!" White whispered to him. He didn't answer. The pain was too much.
Sky started depending on his sense of hearing more. He heard a loud crash, and he heard the air zoom past. Thundrus must have broken through the ceiling or something to get out of the castle.
He felt Thunderous stop and set him down on a hard floor. "Are you ok?" he heard White ask urgently.
Sky shook his head and gasped, "My face-"
"D-Don't talk." she stuttered, and he felt her tie something around his right eye.
"W-What happened?" he stammered, ignoring White. He heard her give a small sob, and he felt her hug him.
"S-Sky... y-you won't be able to see the same way again." she choked. Sky shook his head, but winced as his face stung.
"What-"
"Sky Blue, your eye... it's gone. You lost it. One of those leaves broke through your glasses and took out your eye. And this is all my fault!" sobbed White.
Sky was shocked into silence. He lost his eye? Just because of that Magical Leaf attack?
"No..." He muttered, shaking his head. "I couldn't have lost it! "
"I'm so sorry! It's my fault! I should've gone back like you said! I just lost my temper! And Di-Di was in so much pain! I had to do something!" she cried.
"It's not your fault," He rasped weakly, "It's my own fault! I just couldn't let you get hurt like that!"
"But you didn't have to! I would've died anyway!"
"I had to! I care about you! You are one of the only things in this world that has kept me from killing myself!" he hissed.
"But you could die now!" White said angrily.
"I would've died if you were killed, ok?! I would have never forgiven myself! I would've committed suicide if you died! I care more about you than I do for my eye! I love you, Whitney!"
Silence fell between them. Sky Blue felt her trembling next to him. He raised his hand to feel his face, but White pushed it back down.
"Don't touch it." He heard Thundrus say in a low voice.
"Thundrus, get help! Find Mira or someone! I think Mira was at the League entrance! Anyone that could help!" White suddenly ordered Thundrus.
Once Thundrus had flown away, Sky felt White lean against him. His face stung so hard that he rubbed his knuckle against his cheek. White didn't seem to notice.
"I'm sorry that I dragged you into this." White finally whispered. "I wish I never came here."
Sky Blue didn't reply. He wished he never said any of that stuff. He never meant to actually tell her about his feelings.
"Where are we?" he asked her. He still hasn't opened his remaining eye. It was stinging like the rest of his face.
"The Champion Room in the League. At the foot of the castle." replied White. He nodded, but he winced sharply as his head gave a nasty throb.
"SKY BLUE! WHITE!" a girl's voice screamed. Something slammed next to Sky which made him hiss.
"M-Mira?" he asked as the girl started crying into his shoulder.
Ten year old Mira was sobbing uncontrollably next to Sky, and when he tried to move back, she would hug him tighter. "Thundrus made it sound like you were dying!" She sobbed.
"Mira, please!" he said quietly, and he felt White shudder next to him.
"Please, miss, let me look at him." said a man's voice. Sky felt Mira loosen her grip on him to late the man through. He guessed that Mira had brought a doctor with her.
He felt the doctor lift the cloth that was tied around his now empty eye socket. He heard Mira give a small shriek and White moved a bit closer. Sky yelled as the man touched the side of his face.
"He'll live, but he needs to get to a hospital. He has lost a lot of blood. I thinks it's a miracle that he's survived. But, son, I'm afraid you won't have an eye." the doctor finally said, tying the cloth back around the empty hole.
Sky didn't reply. His head felt like it was melting. He felt tears stream down his cheek as he began to sob. He felt like he would never feel better again. Now Sky Blue sat between his White and Mira, who were both crying with him about his loss.
***
Sky Blue was brought back to earth as he heard the Leia squealed as her brother and cousin chased her around the bridge. He and Amos had caught up with Mira, Leia, and Hugh not to long after their talk. Mira was walking next to him, looking a bit frustrated.
He remembered when he was rushed to a hospital after losing his eye, and had to stay there for over a month. White had disappeared for a few hours after that, and came back looking furious and upset. He never exactly found out what had happened in those hours she had left.
"I have been wanting to talk to you." Mira finally said, as Hugh started chasing after Amos.
"Whatever I did, I didn't do it." Sky said instantly.
Mira smirked. "I pretty sure you did something, but that is not what I was going to say."
"Then what?" he demanded.
Mira took a deep breath before saying "White said I had to ask you if I could help you guys with Team-"
"Not this conversation again!" Sky groaned. "Why do I have to make the decision?"
Mira snorted. "She said you're in charge of me, so you should be the one making the choice."
"Look," he said, now inpatient. "I don't want you to go off and just try and take them on by yourself! You could get hurt, captured, or worst, killed! I was with White last time and look what happened to me!" Sky then pointed at his eye patch.
"But you went right in front of the pokemon!" Mira snapped. "I'm not that stupid! I just want to help! Leia and the others are just a few months younger than me, so why can't I?"
Sky Blue didn't reply. He didn't like being responsible for Mira. She was almost thirteen, and made most of her decisions. But she often went off by herself and would come back hurt. She would sometimes go and travel with White, but she mostly traveled with him.
"Ok, you can help, but you must promise a few things." He finally growled and stopped walking to turn to face Mira.
He ignored her eye roll and said, "First, don't go off by yourself. Go with White, me, or one of the others. Second, if things get too out of hand, run. Three, please be careful!"
"How come you and White are so overprotective?" Mira suddenly burst out.
Sky raised an eyebrow "Something wrong with that?" he demanded.
Mira folded her arms and said, "Well, it's kind of annoying that you guys won't let me help you! I'm not a child, and you're not my parents!"
"Do you have parents?" asked Sky.
"No, but that's not the point! I may be young and inexperienced, but I have to start somewhere! I'm gonna be a teenager soon!"
"Mira, we love you as if you were our own younger sister. We don't want to see you suffer! You have already gone through enough!" he snapped, pulled something from his pocket.
It was his glasses. The glasses he wore before he lost his eye. The lenses were broken and shattered, and it was smeared with blood.
"Do you see this?" he asked sharply, showing it to Mira.
"It's your glasses." she snarled in a bored voice.
"And do you see what happened to them?" he continued.
"Yes."
"I don't want you to go through what me and White went through! You're like family! None of us, including you, have had a perfect family that lasted! That's why we care so much!" Sky hissed.
Mira didn't say anything. She just stared at him. "Fine, so, am I able to help now?" she asked. Sky rolled his eye and nodded.
She gave a loud squeal and started skipping a head of him. Sky stared after her. Mira was a very strange person. He was pretty sure she was more insane than people ever thought he was.
