Chapter 24
Chapter 24
A deafening silence greeted White's words. Amos stared at the older trainer, who was now crying into her hands.
"White, you don't have a brother." he said, shaking his head and trying to keep his voice from rising. "Hugh told me-"
"I lied!" sobbed White. "I lied to him! I have always lied! I never told anyone about my brother! My entire life has been a lie!"
Amos felt more angry at her than he had ever felt, but he couldn't take it out on her now. Oliver was five feet away from them, looking terrified.
"Do... do Sky Blue and Mira know?" Amos asked her, trying to keep his voice calm.
White nodded, wiping tears off her cheeks.
"They're the only people who I have told," She said, "The other people who know don't tell anyone about it."
"Who are these 'other people'?" he asked. White suddenly wore a hesitant look on her face.
Amos remembered seeing the same look on Sky Blue, when he didn't want to say what really happened to his eye.
"Team Plasma knows." White finally said.
"How do they know?" Amos asked. She didn't answer. She was still wiping tears off her face.
"I don't want to say." She whispered, more to herself than to Amos. "I'm ashamed of it. No one can know. No one should know."
Rapi looked concerned and made a small noise.
"I promised I wouldn't tell." he reminded her, thinking that he wouldn't even be able to tell Leia and Hugh if he tried.
White looked at him, apparently wondering if she could trust him.
She must have found him trustworthy, because she said hurriedly, "N was the former king of Team Plasma."
"What?!" he yelped, and White gave a small wail. "He worked with them?!"
"This is why I don't tell people! I'm ashamed of it!" White wailed, and started to sob into her hands again.
"Why did he work for them?! Wait, are you...?" Amos started, now staring at her.
"I'm not part of it! Honest!" She sobbed, her Gorebyss squealing next to her. "I never even tried!"
"Then why was he with them?!" Amos snapped.
It took her minute before she sniffed, "H-He was raised by Team Plasma. I wasn't. He lived with them. I didn't."
"What happened to you if he lived with Team Plasma?" he asked.
White took a deep breath before saying
"I lived in a forest with a group of pokemon. My mother abandoned us, you see. N and I were raised by a group of pokemon. The group included Rapi, Di-Di, Zoroark, a Woobat, a Darmanitan, and..." She stopped, looking horrified.
"What?" Amos asked as White gave another wail.
"It's my fault!" She whimpered, and sobbed into her hands. "He's dead because of me!"
"Who is?" he asked, annoyed. White gave a gasp, and cried "Ray! He was like another brother! He was my Lucario! H-He was one of the pokemon that took care of me! And Pikachu..."
Amos didn't know what to do. He felt ashamed for making White relive her childhood.
"What happened to... er... Pikachu?" he asked, hating himself for even asking.
Di-Di hissed as White choked out, "S-She was... she was taken away from me! She was stolen from me! She doesn't remember me! Ghetsis turned her against me!"
"I-I'm sorry..." he muttered, turning away from her.
"It's not your fault. It's just... I feel like everything is my fault!" White sobbed. "My father's hatred, my mother's anger, my brother's dislike of me, my grandfather's murder, Ray's death, Pikachu's kidnap, Sky's eye..."
Oliver had moved a little closer to White, and tried to pat her bleeding shoulder. She winced, and jolted out of the Dewott's reach. Rapi looked depressed and nudged her trainer's arm again.
"Amos... I can speak to pokemon." White suddenly burst out. He wiped his head around to see her, thinking that he heard her wrong.
"What?" he said sharply.
"I-I can understand pokemon. I can speak to them, and they understand me." She repeated
He looked her in the eyes, and tried to see any sign of a lie. But she was looking serious.
"You're joking," he said. "That's not possible."
"It is possible." White whispered. "My brother and I were born with the ability. That ability is what kept me and him alive when we were left in the forest."
"Prove it, then." snarled Amos, trying not to sound harsh.
She blinked at him. He thought that she was going to refuse, but she had turned to Rapi, who was kneeling next to her. White started to rasp and make strange noises. Rapi gave a small cry and her fiery mane brightened. A flame burst from the end of her horn, and shot it into the sky. The flame exploded, and it looked like a firework.
Amos stared at the sky as the red firework shaped into a pokeball. Rapi gave a neigh, and turned to see her trainer. White didn't look at her Rapidash. She was staring at the sandy ground.
"This isn't possible." he hissed.
White didn't look at him but said, "Have you ever wondered how I was able to get Leia's Riolu?"
Amos didn't answer.
"Can you tell me...everything? I mean, like, your childhood?" he asked uncertainty.
"Maybe...ok, fine. But don't interrupt." White said, hesitantly. Di-Di and Rapi made noises of protest, but White didn't seem to listen.
"I-I was born a day from now, sixteen years ago. My real name is Whitney Joy Gropius. White Copperstone is my fake name. My brother's real name is Natural Harmonia Gropius. Like me, he lived by the name of N.
"My mother had told me that my father didn't want a daughter. He was happy with N, and had wanted another son. But when my mother gave birth to a girl, he ran away. He left after my birth. I never saw or met him since.
"After that, my mother and grandfather took care of us. My mother had a problem with pokemon. She was a trainer once, but she was blinded in one eye by a Poison Type trainer's pokemon. From what my grandfather had told me, she never forgave the trainer, and hated pokemon ever since. So she wanted to keep me and N away from pokemon.
"My grandfather didn't like this, so he secretly took us out to search for wild pokemon when she was away. He even caught us each a pokemon. He got me a Pichu, and my brother got a Zorua.
"That's when me and my brother realized that we could understand the pokemon. We could also feel their emotions. But we kept it secret from our mother, because she would probably try and get a doctor to stop the ability. We did tell our grandfather. He thought it was gift from God, and told us to use the ability wisely.
"Well, I don't know how, but my mother found out and tried to get my grandfather away from us. My grandfather and her had a shouting match, and she threatened to get rid of us. He left Unova after that.
"I think it was the fight with N that made my mother decide to abandon us. She had offended him, and he got really upset at her. She took us into the middle of a large forest and left us there the next day.
"We tried finding our way out, but we never found a way. So we had to live in the forest. Pichu, Zorua, and N had to take care of me, since I was so small and young. A few weeks later, a small group of pokemon took us in. Most of the pokemon make up my pokemon team; Rapi, Di-Di, Zoroark, and Ray and Pikachu were part of my team once.
"They watched over us for two years. But there were several times when one of us had a near death accident. I had the most. I was almost kidnapped, attacked by a shiny Arcanine, which was Archy's brother, and was almost killed by other pokemon. Some attacks I received small injuries from, but I received life long injuries from others." White pointed to the leg that she had hurt at this part.
"Well, a year or two after the pokemon had took us in, N started disappearing for hours at a time. I was by myself most of the days, rarely seeing my brother. Darmanitan, Zoroark, and Woobat disappeared along with him. So Rapi took charge most of the time.
"Then one day, on my fifth birthday, I woke up to find N, Darmanitan, Woobat, and Zoroark gone. There was a note that explained that N had left to live with a man called Ghetsis, and wouldn't be able to come back. That was probably the worst day of my life. Since then, I have always dreaded my birthdays, and had never trusted another human. I even gave up on my religion, believing that God hated me and would never let me have another joyful moment again.
"I soon had to live a life of stealing. When I had found a village, I became a pickpocket. I stole people's wallets, and would sometimes steal from Pokemon Centers. No one ever caught me.
"But then there was a day when a pack of Arcanine came and set the forest on fire. I was still small, and my pokemon were injured. This was when I discovered that I had Asthum. From what Rapi and the others have told me, the Arcanine pack got a tip off from someone that I was living in the forest. They hated humans, and would kill them if they had to.
"I kept weaving in and out of consciousness, and finally woke up in a hospital. I was saved by an Arcanine. That Arcanine was Archy. He refused to kill me, and had killed his own father and brother to protect me. His pack had then banned him from his home. So then he lived with me and my pokemon. He was, and still acts, like a father to me. I would have died if Archy hadn't been there.
"Over seven to eight years later, I had become a thief once more, and stole probably the most valuable thing I had ever stolen before; a Pokedex and a starter pokemon from Professor Juniper's labs. I had to steal it because I didn't have a guardian's permission to start a journey, and I haven't seen my only living family member is eight years."
Amos opened his mouth angrily to yell at her, but Rapi had glared at him. White ignored this.
"Unfortunately, I stole the pokemon and Pokedex around the same time four other trainers started their journey, and the same time Team Plasma was founded." White continued. "Team Plasma was also stealing pokemon, and were trying to persuade people to release their pokemon. I was given the chance to join Team Plasma, but I refused.
"But someone had told the police that I was working for Team Plasma as a double agent. So the police tried everything to catch me. And that's when I met him." White turned to look at Amos, and she wore a slight frown on her face.
"I met N for the first time in eight years. I met him in Accumula Town first. I was sure he was the one who had tipped me off, so I had to hide from him. But he had seen me, and had me tailed. But he didn't need to. I was arrested in Driftveil City, along with a group of Team Plasma members.
"The police had questioned me, but after three minutes they realized that I was no more part of Team Plasma than they were. They released me, and Professor Juniper let me keep the Snivy I stole.
"After that, I had started to get more deeply involved in destroying Team Plasma. When N had retrieved the legendary pokemon Zekrom, I started searching for the younger brother of Zekrom, Reshiram. I started to research on the Black and White Dragons, and tried to retrieve Reshiram.
"But two of the new trainers got Reshiram before I did. They got the White Stone from one of the gym leaders. I tried everything to steal back the White Stone, but nothing worked. I ended up just following the two trainers, waiting for a chance to take it back.
"I followed them all the way to the League. When the trainers had beaten the Elite Four, my brother had already defeated the current champion, Alder. That's when Team Plasma's fortress was revealed.
"Me and Sky Blue were able to get inside, but the other two trainers had gotten a head of us. That's when Sky lost his eye. He lost it to N's foster sisters. Out of fury and hatred, I had fought them, and won. But I had to leave the castle. Sky was losing a lot of blood. If I had stayed any longer, he would have died of blood lost.
"From what I heard, N had stepped down from being king, and the two trainers defeated Ghetsis. The Seven Sages, the other leaders of Team Plasma, were arrested. N and Ghetsis disappeared after the battle, and no one saw them again.
"I didn't see my brother until the day I met you and your cousins. He had told me that Team Plasma had come back, and that I would have to train you and your cousins to defeat Team Plasma. The two trainers from last time are missing, and N and I are probably the most wanted by Team Plasma. So he chose you three. And that's what I have been doing ever since."
Amos stared at White as she finished her story. He felt like a spoiled brat compared to her. He felt sorry for her, and angry toward Team Plasma.
"But, why did Ghetsis just take N? Why didn't he take you to?" he finally asked.
White shrugged. "I don't know. He probably didn't want a five year old daughter. He probably wanted more mature children." She hissed, glaring to herself.
Then he asked, "And why did N choose us of all trainers?"
White didn't answer. Oliver was now watching her, his eyes wide. Di-Di and Rapi made small noises.
"I think it is because you, Leia, and Hugh share the same traits as the two trainers from two years ago. You three have shown much courage and strength. And you all show love toward your pokemon." She finally said.
White then made another rasping noise, and Rapi stood up. "Where are you going?!" Amos yelped as White climbed onto the Rapidash's back.
"Nimbassa City. It's the only place I can go now." She said, and pulled out a letter from her coat pocket. "Give this to Sky Blue. He will escort you to Nimbassa City tomorrow. I'm sure he will do it." White told him as she handed Amos the letter.
"Can I ask you two more things?" he asked when White returned the Gorebyss to her pokeball.
White nodded. "Why did you give up your religion, and why did you release Tiny?"
White froze. Her hand had stopped moving toward her belt of pokeballs. Amos saw her leg twitch.
"It is easier for me to believe that God isn't real, then to think he still cared for me. And I released Tiny for her own good. She would have killed a pokemon, or a pokemon would kill her because of her pride."
With that, White nudged Rapi's side and the Rapidash ran back toward the road, leaving Amos feeling shocked, confused, and burning with pity.

._. Ello
Well, White's story is revealed... or is it? >:P Lol, Idk, actually
So, I added White's religion problem in there. This is a book for Christians who can't find good cuss/inappropriate scene free books, and this is also for non Christians. I don't talk about religion TOO much because I don't want non Christian people to be like, "Oh, this is one of those really religious books DX"
I don't want that :(
Again, thanks for the votes and comments, and good night! :D
