Chapter 21
Chapter 21
"Where do you think they are?" Sky Blue asked White as they slowed down.
"I don't know, but they sounded close." replied White, looking around for any sign of a Team Plasma grunt.
"Let me go, please!" Tiny snapped and leapt out of White's arms.
Sky and White ignored her.
"They said there were patrols here. How many do you think are here?" he said, his Chatot flying back onto his shoulder.
"Not too many, I expect. Probably three or four." said White.
She was listening for voices, but all White could hear was the water dripping from the ceiling. She watched as a Grimer surfaced from the sewer water below them.
"White, duck down!" Sky suddenly hissed, and pulled her down behind a fallen pipe.
White snarled as her bad leg gave a nasty throb, but then heard footsteps coming near them. Tiny mewed and hid behind her trainer.
"Why do we need to catch all these stupid Rattata? A Grimer is fine, but a Rattata is nothing special." a man's voice complained.
They peered behind the pipe and saw three Team Plasma members walking toward them, holding a bag of pokeballs. There were two men and a woman. It would have been hard to see the grunts since they now wore dark clothing.
"We're not supposed to understand why we catch them, we just have to swipe them." replied one man.
"Be quiet both of you! Do you want us to be caught?" the woman snapped.
White and Sky looked at each other and nodded. Right when the patrol walked past them, Sky and White yelled a order.
"Tiny, Hyper Beam!"
"Chatter, Hyper Voice!"
The patrol jumped and yelled as Chatter and Tiny attacked. The Espeon gave a screech and a pure white beam shot out of her mouth, which hit a pipe and it exploded. Chatter the Chatot gave a deafening shriek that made White's head buzz.
The grunts were so startled that they fell over the edge of the cement path, and landed in the water below. The woman spluttered as she surfaced, and glared at their attackers.
"What's the big deal?! What are you doing here?!" She shouted as the two men started swearing.
"A question we should be asking you." White snarled and grabbed the bag they dropped.
"That's ours! Give it back!" one of the men yelled as she looked inside.
"Can we drown them?" Chatter asked, chuckling slightly.
"I wish," Sky snorted as White tossed the bag aside.
"How many more of you are there?" White asked the grunts sharply, who were now trying to climb out of the water.
"Well you'll never find out! Golbat!" the other man cried and a large bat pokemon flew above them.
Tiny yowled as the Golbat bit into her neck. "Get away from her! Chatter, Synchronoise!" Sky Blue yelled.
White screamed and threw a pokeball in the air.
"Zoroark!" She cried, and the large dark fox appeared in the red light. "Flamethrower, quick!"
Zoroark yowled and fire shot out of his open jaws. The flames lit up the sewer as it hit the Golbat in the face. It screeched and fell to the ground, unconscious.
White whirled around to face the water, but the grunts were gone.
"We'll never find them now!" Sky spat with frustration. White ignored him and heard Tiny hiss, "If this is how it's gonna be, I want to go back."
Zoroark growled at her, apparently annoyed at Tiny's lack of thankfulness.
"Their still here, I know it!" White snarled. "Let's go near the entrance!"
Zoroark and Chatter exchanged looks and followed behind Tiny.
"White, there is a tunnel that leads to Driftveil City, right? Do you think they could be trying to get through the tunnel?" Sky asked her.
White tilted her head as she started following the pokemon.
"It's possible, but I don't think that's it." she finally said. "There are strong pokemon in that tunnel, and I don't think they have the brains to put up a fight with those pokemon."
"I wish they were that dumb. The world would be a much better place." Chatter squawked.
Zoroark scowled at him, and Tiny giggled. Sky smirked and said, "I agree. It would be one of those worlds with rainbows and unicorns."
White snorted at this.
"Keep your mouth shut if you know what's good for you." Zoroark snapped at Sky and Chatter, who were now trying not to laugh.
Tiny seemed to be enjoying this.
"It's a free country. It's not our fault that you came from a bad background." she sneered.
White heard Zoroark hiss to the Espeon "I would watch your back. I swear I'll-"
But Zoroark never finished the sentence. White held out her hand to stop Sky Blue. She could hear voices, but they weren't from grunts.
"Who would come to a place like this?" said Hugh's voice.
"Hobos would. They would love to live in a place like this." Amos' voice replied.
This some how made White feel furious. Was she a hobo?
White saw the two figures of Amos and Hugh cross onto the path.
"Wait here for a second." Sky suddenly whispered with a smirk.
He beckoned Chatter to follow him and he quietly walked toward the two boys, who couldn't see them through the darkness.
When Sky was five feet away, Chatter gave another deafening shriek and Amos and Hugh yelled. White tried not to laugh as the two boys ran into each other and fell to the ground.
"Well, if it isn't Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum, or whatever they were called!" Sky Blue said cheerfully.
"Oh it's you!" Hugh spat as he tried standing up.
Zoroark gave a loud howl and Tiny gave a screech of laughter.
"Was that really necessary?" White asked as she walked next to her friend. She was trying very hard not to smile.
"Very necessary." Sky said with a nod.
Amos straightened up and glared at him.
"We're we brought down here for this, or was it for something else?" Amos snapped while rubbing his arm.
"No, it's because Team Plasma is in here. It would be great if you could help." White explained.
"Then what was the point of scaring us?" snarled Hugh.
"That was to brighten up the place." Sky Blue said, chuckling slightly.
"Did you meet Leia and Mira?" White asked Amos.
He nodded. "We met them near the entrance. They said we had to help get the grunts out. They went near the back of the sewers, I think." he said.
"I'm not really worried about them." said Sky. "Mira knows how to fight."
Zoroark snorted. The pokemon had apparently judged Mira because she was rarely serious.
"But will Leia be alright?" Hugh asked nervously.
"I'm sure she will." White said reassuringly. "But if you don't mind, I'm going to go look around for a patrol. Sky, do you think you can stay with them?"
Sky nodded, trying to hide a gleeful smile. Amos and Hugh did not look happy about having him with them.
White turned away to look at the sewer water next to the walkway. She pulled out a pokeball from her pocket and pressed the button.
Di-Di the Gorebyss appeared in the light and squealed. "ELLO!" She squeaked loudly, noticing the other pokemon.
None of them looked happy to see her.
"Can't you come with us?" Amos asked, giving Sky Blue a suspicious look.
White shook her head. "I think it would be better if I didn't." she told him.
She ignored Amos and Hugh's whispers as she returned Zoroark and Tiny to their pokeballs. Di-Di had already leapt into the water below, and allowed White to step onto her back.
"WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE TODAY?" Di-Di asked as she started to swim down the small stream.
"Team Plasma is in here." White said, slightly annoyed.
"OH, REALLY? WILL I BE ABLE TO FIGHT TOO?" Di-Di squealed excitedly.
"Fine, but don't try and over do it." she replied.
Di-Di gave another squeal and started to hum as she passed by a swimming Grimer. White now remembered why she rarely let Di-Di out.
White would occasionally hear a yell or a roar of a pokemon, but the noises were never close to them. The Gorebyss seemed to be enjoying herself, and hummed even more loudly.
She was about to tell Di-Di to be quiet, but Di-Di had stopped next to a iron bridge.
"I THINK THEIR NEARBY." Di-Di squeaked to her trainer.
"You sure?" White asked, who hadn't heard anything.
"POSITIVE." the pokemon replied.
Di-Di lifted her head a bit so White could climb onto a small, nearby ladder. Her leg gave another throb as she climbed onto the cement path. The Gorebyss dived into the stream, leaving bubbles in her place.
White straightened up and leaned on her walking stick. The pain in her leg was getting worse. She had broke her leg when she was younger, and it healed wrong. So every few weeks her leg would lock on her, and she wouldn't be able to walk right.
Footsteps echoed around the sewer walls and White looked around. Two men were walking toward her, but didn't seem to notice her presence. She saw the shiny Team Plasma badges on their uniforms. White bent down so they wouldn't know she was there.
"I think we took the wrong turn! We must be going deeper in!" one said to the other.
"Nonsense! This has to be the right way!" the other man said.
"But I can see the stairs that leads up to that pokemon garden place!"
"Maybe I can help you." White said loudly and stood up.
The grunts jumped and turned to see who had spoken. One of the grunt's eyes widened.
"It's you!" he hissed furiously as the other snarled at her.
"Does that mean I don't have to introduce myself?" White snarled.
The other man seemed to have recognized her too, because he then said, "You're that thief! That thief that helped bring us down last time!"
"So I am." She agreed with a smirk.
"But your our king's sister! The real one!" he said, looking at White's green and brown hair.
"Not much of a king was he, though?" sneered the other. "It's his fault that we disbanded!"
White tightened her grip on her walking stick. "In my opinion," she started, feeling a bit sick. "He had a lot more sense then you'll ever have!"
At her words, Di-Di sprang out of the water and shot a stream of water at the two grunts. They yelled as they got a face full of sewer water. Di-Di seemed to be enjoying this, because she started spraying them again and again.
Using this advantage, White threw a pokeball into the air and yelled, "Tiny!"
The Espeon reappeared out of the pokeball and gave a echoing shriek.
"Tiny, Psychic! Di-Di, Hydro Pump!" White ordered them.
Tiny gave a yowl and light pink light surrounded the Espeon. It then shot past them and surrounded the two grunts, who were still yelling. Di-Di squealed and sprayed shot a even larger stream of water toward the men.
"QUICK, LET'S GET OUT!" one grunt screamed. "SHE'S INSANE!"
The other yelled something back, but White didn't catch it.
Before she could give another command, a large, snake like tail slammed in front of the grunts, which made them yell in horror.
It was a Steelix. It was over thirty feet long, and was sliding on its steel belly. Sitting on its head was Mira.
"I hope you don't mind if me and Spika join in!" Mira said in a sing song voice, pointing to her Steelix.
"Run back! Run back!" the other grunt yelled and tried to run in the other direction. But Leia was blocking this path, Severusa by her side.
"Yeah, I don't think so." Leia sneered.
The grunts must have known what they had to do, because they then shouted
"Patrat!"
"Sandile!"
Each man threw a pokeball, and two pokemon escaped from the pokeballs.
"Flash and Bubble Beam!"
"Iron Tail!"
"Vine Whip!"
Tiny, Di-Di, Spika, and Severusa gave loud cries as each one attacked. Red light flashed from Tiny's jewel, and Di-Di blew bubbles at the Patrat. Spika gave a roar and swung its tail at Sandile, and Severusa started scratching the Sandile with her vines.
Both pokemon wailed as they fainted. The grunts yelled and returned their pokemon to their pokeballs.
"Run, run, RUN!" one screamed, and they successfully ran away from the girls.
But Tiny didn't stop attacking. She tore after the men, but they were to far away for her to catch up.
"Tiny, come back!" White shouted at her. She came back, but then started scratching Severusa.
Leia screamed and tried to get the now wailing Snivy away from the hissing Espeon.
"Spika, Bite!" Mira cried, just as White ordered Di-Di.
"Water Pulse!" She screamed, and the two pokemon attacked Tiny.
Tiny wailed as Spika bit into her tail, and Di-Di splashes a wave of water onto her fur. White then tossed the Espeon's pokeball into the air and Tiny disappeared inside it.
"What's wrong with her?!" Leia cried as she tried to calm the crying Snivy.
Mira was staring at the pokeball, now rolling around on the ground. "White, she's lost it!" Mira said, trying to keep her voice steady.
White grasped the pokeball from the ground. She felt tears streaming down her face. It was time. It was for her own good.
"I have to go!" She choked running across the iron bridge.
"Where are you going?" Leia squeaked as Di-Di followed her trainer.
"I'M DOING WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE YEARS AGO!" White shouted at them.
