Reader POV
It was a beautiful summer's day when my plane came down from the sky, kissing the ground.
"Passengers, please remain seated until the aircraft has come to a complete stop. The local time is 13:45. The weather is 18°C and the sky is beautiful. Thank you for chosing Air Japan and welcome to Tokyo, Japan."
I sat next to my younger brother Nico, both of us looking outside the window.
"Mommy would've loved to see this," Nico said to me as we entered the airport.
"She really would've loved to be back here," I agreed. "But you know: work is crazy back in Korea. Especially since she's going to be helping the fashion for Chanel."
Nico held my hand and then pointed to someone. "(y/n), it's Dad!"
Our father was waiting for us, eagerly waving.
We walked over and said our greetings.
It's been two years since our parents divorced on good terms, both maintaining a long-lasting friendship.
"So how was the sights of Seoul?" Dad asked Nico and I as he drove us to his family house.
The Akitsuki home was one of modern building and in a relatively new neighborhood.
Even though Nico and I were related to our father Akitsuki Shoto, we took our mother's last name of Song.
"Let's get you settled here now and then we can take care of business. I know a great place for yakisoba," Dad said with a smile. "Then we can get rid of your jet lag."
"Okay, Dad."
I looked around my room and it was exactly as I remembered it-but there was a bag on my dresser.
Inside the bag was a bunch of snacks and a journal with a pen.
I opened the journal and saw what was written.
Akitsuki (y/n),
I know it hasn't been easy spending time with both your mother and I in two different countries in addition to looking after your brother and academics. But you make us proud. You make me proud. Sometimes we all have pent up frustration and things we just can't say. I know this is lame, but writing down things really does help-especially as you get older. Just don't grow up too fast! You're making me so sad yet happy you aren't my little girl anymore. You're becoming a woman.
-Dad
I looked at the journal cover once more and it had a koi fish on the top with a light pink background.
"I took the liberty of getting you guys your favorite snacks," Dad said with a gentle smile as he walked into my room with an extra blanket. "You used to love these meiji snacks."
"I still do," I said as I put the journal down. "Thanks, Dad."
"Of course."
"I wonder if we could possibly make onigiris later?" I asked him with a cheeky smile. "I remember us making them for Mom when she was sick. I'd like to make them again with you."
"And me!" Nico shouted as he slid into my room.
"Onigiris tomorrow for lunch it is!"

"Go get your sunscreen and make sure the house is locked Dad said as he started the car.
I did as he asked and sat in the back of the car since Nico wanted to be in the front.
"Dad, where are we going today?" Nico asked as my father went onto the highway.
"Well, I decided to take us to this cool spot in the countryside. You remember your old friends Maki and Jaeha? They've been dying to see you and I decided to drive there since it's a bit too far."
Dad turned on the radio and played some music, humming along as he drove us to the countryside.
I closed my eyes and put my walkman on my head, more interested in hearing Queen instead of my father's 'old man' music.
About two hours in, Dad stopped at a gas station.
"You kids can go get something so long as you get me some chips," Dad said as he handed me some cash. "And be quick."
Nico made a beeline to the back where all the soda was, me following more slowly.
He got a coca cola with some candy and a bag of chips for my dad.
I settled for a (drink) and some (snack), following Nico back to the car.
Soon we were back on the road, the distant shore approaching us.
"Do Maki and Jaeha live in a beach town?" I asked.
"Not quite," Dad said. "But we have to pass the beach towns to get to their home. We can stop at the beach another time."
I nodded and rolled down a window, letting the breeze hit my face.
"Be careful," Nico teased me. "If you don't watch out, a bird will get trapped in the car and eat you!"
"So funny," I stuck my tongue out at Nico.
Dad drove for a couple hours more until he pulled over, a look of confusion on his face. "That's so weird...we should've been there two hours ago."
He shook his head, glaring at the map. "Of course! I was holding the map wrong! And of course we've got a flat tire."
All three of us let out a sigh of exhaustion.
It was getting late and the sun was going to set soon.
"Well, let's go look for some help. There's a village 5 kilometers away. Maybe they can help us."
Dad took Nico's hand and all three of us walked towards the post that had the name of a village-though it was faded away-on it.
"Hey look!" Nico got out of Dad's grasp and pointed to the village. "It's an amusement park!"
"So it is!"
We walked faster with a purpose but there was something weird about the amusement park.
There was no one there but somehow one of the roller coasters was moving.
