Chapter 35
As the late afternoon progressed into evening she had worked both dream and vision magic, writing everything out as careful as possible. She loved writing in it, as if it was made specifically for her. It was as if it held a magical energy within it's dark leather covers.
By the time she had finished her magical studies and dream triggering meditations It was a quarter to the witching hour. Joline cleared her bed, pitching the coke cans and double checking that her grimore of dreams was in place. She flipped the light off and crawled under the covers, able to lose herself in the world of the dreams. It gave her a calming feeling that couldn't be ignored.
There was a thick blue grey fog as she walked through it, the castle from her sketching project came into view. Then she could see the hill a few more feet ahead of her. Joline ran up the hill until she found Veronica throwing ingridents into a large boiling pot.
"Hi there," Joline greeted her.
"Oh good to see you again, how's it going?"
"Okay, I guess, Joline replied in a lowered tone.
"You guess? You don't sound okay," Veronica stated.
After a few minutes of twirling a strand of her hair around her finger in nervous hesitation, she spoke up.
"It's just that it's boring in my world."
"All beings feel that way that's why they go on vacation," Veronica joked with her.
"I'm sure you're right," Joline replied after a giggling fit.
"I am, trust me," Veronica stated, stirring the cauldron.
"What are you making in there?"
"Oh this is a potion to bring about a vision quest."
"What?Wow I didn't know you could do that," Joline exclaimed.
"I can do just about anything."
"I believe that." Joline replied.
"Have you been practicing your chanting?" Veronica asked her.
"Yes but I don't understand the words and I don't know if I'm saying them right."
"You're doing fine," Veronica encouraged her.
"What language is it?" Joline asked.
"A language so old it doesn't exist any more." She answered her.
"Then how do you know about it?" She asked.
Veronica's eyes went colder than ice and grew darker than they ever were before this moment. The skies grew dark and creepy as if a storm of evil were approaching.
"What's with all the questions ? I have taught you everything that you know and now you don't trust me?" Veronica bellowed with rage, a side Joline had never seen before now.
Opening her mouth to explain it wasn't that way at all Veronica spoke three strange words in the ancient dialect and suddenly Joline was back in her room with the shrieking alarm clock. She moved just enough to knock it to the floor.
