Chapter 27
As the weeks passed by quickly for the guides, Joline was diving deeper and deeper into the dream world. She learned more through her dream visits with the other witch than ever before. She learned different spells and rituals , had even discovered that their souls were indeed linked by a karmatic connection. Joline enjoyed these dreams, giving her a sense of empowerment. They helped her feel in control, something rare to her. Veronica had even shown her how to make things happen by thinking about it hard enough.
The dreams would happen whenever she slept, and soon she was sleeping more than awake. Joline stopped leaving the house other than when she had to go to school. As the next month passed by, she stopped going to the library, slept more. Her mother showed concern but assumed it a phase.
Joline soon began to focus on only her dreams, spell-books and magic. Nothing else mattered to her. It was if nothing else existed at all. It opened up a whole new universe to her and she loved it. She couldn't learn enough when it came to witchcraft.
One night after getting ready for bed, setting the dream-book next to her, Joline performed a long deep meditation. She couldn't wait to learn more magic. She layed there and waited to drift off to dream-land. She kept trying, but for some strange reason she couldn't fall into any kind of slumber.
After another twenty minutes she tried another meditation, relaxing her thoughts but still wide awake. After a few minutes, Joline flipped on the light and pulled out some of her older spellbooks and went over them, thinking it might make her drowsy.
After another hour of hoping she was too pissed off to sleep. She tried reading, writing out how she felt, watching t.v and sketching but nothing would work. Joline was ready to scream in a fit of rage as if she were going through a form of magical withdraw. She headed to the bathroom and ran the water. Then lit a few candles. A long hot bubble bath may relax her. By the time she was done and back in her bedroom, the clock read two a.m.
She tried but again nothing. By three -thirty in the morning she wondered if it might be insomnia, when finally she fell into a long dreamless sleep.
