Chapter 24
"Now what do we do sir?" Jefferson asked with fear in his soul.
"Divinity wanted to see him be born, she'll get back to us." Jameson answered him.
"I have faith we can do this, sir." He looked the elder in the eye.
"Thank you. I may need to borrow some of that faith of yours." He spoke in a deep tone, attempting a little mortal humor.
"I will do whatever you say, sir."" Jefferson responded.
"Good lord I hope that you do." The elder replied giving him a strong look of disbelief.
"Yes sir." He replied, not really sure what else he could say to ease his mentor.
The two sat in the tree in silence waiting for Divinity to send word back to them. A few extremely long hours later she did return.
"Is all well with the child?" Jameson asked the moment that the angel apeared before them.
"Yes, everything went fine." She answered him.
"Good to hear it." Jameson replied.
"Oh yes, here you are going to need this." She told Jameson, handing him a bright glowing scroll.
"Thanks for the help." He replied as Divinity vanished out of sight.
"Sir, what's that?" Jefferson asked.
"This is a magical scroll. Every soul has one. It's a record of importance pertaining to one's spirit path." He explained slowly.
Jefferson stared at him for a long moment before nodding. Then his curiosity took control.
"What does it say?" Jefferson boldly asked.
"As an apprentice you are on a need to know basis." He told him firmly.
"Is there anything I need to know?" Jefferson asked.
Jameson opened the scroll part way and slowly scanned over it. Reading through the secret information carefully before rolling it back up, then he looked blankly at his student guide.
"He's been named Newton."
"Should we go see him?" Jefferson asked.
"In a few days, it may take him a little time to get adjusted to the mortal realm." The elder told him.
Jefferson nodded cocking his head to one side, then back again. He looked lost in deep thought for a moment.
"Is that why some newborns cry a lot more than others?" Jefferson asked.
"I do believe so." Jameson answered him. Then after a brief pause spoke again.
"With more training I think you'll make an excellent spirit guide."
"Thank you sir." He replied.
"You're getting there. All is well and your assignment is doing better than anticipated." Jameson reminded him.
