Nathan held out his hand to the girl. She looked shocked, and he wanted to smirk, but he wasn't like that. Sam stood behind him, shaking his head. 'You idiot.' He thought.

'Better than lying to them.' Nathan thought back, turning to glare at him.

Sam only grumbled in response. 'No one has ever known about an Element such as yourself, Nathan.'

Nathan said nothing, he only turned back to look at the other Elements. They were staring at him, clearly thinking they were insane. Nathan looked away. "Is something wrong?" He asked, massaging his right hand with his left thumb.

"Another Element? Not born of Nobility? Impossible." Ayden finally said.

Nathan looked away. He hated being told he was impossible. Everyone told him that the day they were told. It was terrible, and he hated every second of it.

Nathan crossed his arms and started rubbing them. He always did that when he was nervous. His friends took it as a symbol to step in and save him.

As Nathan stood awkwardly in front of them, he felt a dull pain in the back of his mind. His expression changed drastically. His eyes shone with the need and want to kill, and he pushed through the Elements. He had to kill this creature.

"H-hey! Wait!" Ayden called out, following him.

Nathan didn't listen. He could hear them cursing him both mentally and verbally, yet he didn't stop. He had to kill this being, or he would have failed his parents.

As he stormed down the hill and to the river, he watched the water swirl. He sighed. Looks like Lela is acting up he thought to himself.

The water tried to from a wall in front of him, but Nathan simply put up his hand and moved the water aside. Who cares if he got a little wet?

Nathan followed the feeling, being drawn to it. He looked behind him and saw the Nobles nervously moving through the thin walkway Lela was trying to hold. If only they knew there was a bridge not far down the river. He chuckled as they dodged droplets. He then turned around as the being moved farther away. He moved into around sprint, hoping to catch up with it.

Soon, he was face to face with one of the Evil's minion. It chittered nervously before falling on its knees. "Oh, great an powerful Spirit, please, take mercy on me."

Nathan chuckled. "No, I do not think that is an option."

The minion whimpered. "Please, I beg o-"

Nathan used his abilities to lift the minion in the air. It was held by its neck, and choking. He then made it see its favorite memory as it hung there dying. If he took another's life, he at least wanted them to die happy.

The being exhaled and then was still. He let the hold he had on it go, and examined it.

It wore a mask that looked like one on the theater in town. Its mouth open and turned into a frown. It was made of clay and was cracking. It was clearly a old mask, due to its extremely worn look. The rest of the head was adorned with a black cloth substance that went down to its knees. It had on a black traveling jacket with black pants and boots.

Nathan moved the cloth to see the weapon they always carried. A curved sword. A civilization known only through myth called it a Khopesh. The specific sword Nathan held was made of some rib of a large animal, grinded down into a finely sharp edge. The handle was wrapped in leather that was dyed black. Nathan rubbed his index finger along the blade, only to feel a twinge of pain. Crimson blood rolled down the white blade and his finger. He sighed, putting his finger in his mouth.

He turned around, wondering where the other Elements were. He then decided that they didn't matter. He sat down on his knees and started scooping dirt up with his hands.

When he finally had a large enough hole, he lifted the man's body up and gently lay him down into the ditch. He covered it back up and made a headstone of stones at the head. He at least deserved to have a somewhat proper burial.

Once Nathan finished, he turned around and left, only to find the Elements had been spying on him. When he saw them, they all acted like nothing had happened.

"What are you doing?" Nathan asked, his voice portraying the opposite if how he felt.

Ashlee breathed a sigh of relief. He isn't mad, that's good. "We were having trouble coming out of the river, so we just got here."

Nathan sighed. They really needed to learn how to block their thoughts. Nathan gave a small smile before walking back towards the river. He then walked along the bank of it, heading towards the bridge.

The Nobles were behind him. Nathan disliked calling them Elements now, since they didn't do anything and still cared about their appearance. The stories he'd been told growing up about the past Elements were ones of great power, dignity, respect, etcetera. Nathan held back tears. He couldn't break down in front of them.

He turned around to glance at the others, and saw them giving him questionable glances while murmuring to themselves. Nathan turned his attention back to getting to the bridge.

When he came to it he immediately crossed. He could hear the groans of the Nobles behind him. They were clearly upset about the fact a bridge had been available the whole time. he chuckled to himself as he jumped back onto dry land. Nathan hated heights, something everyone always teased him about. He shuddered as he remembered why he hated them. He made his way back to town, not bothering to look back at the others.

When he came back to the fountain, Sam was sitting there. Nathan sat back down next to him. "Another one, eh?" Sam asked, a sly grin spreading along his face.

Nathan simply nodded in reply. "Where is the body?"

"I buried-" Nathan stopped when the Nobles caught up with them. Lela was panting while Ayden and Wesley were sweating like pigs. Ashlee was rubbing her feet. For people trained their whole life in combat, they weren't that good.

"What?" Ayden asked after he managed to wipe the sweat off of his face. "You buried something?"

Nathan said nothing as he turned to look at Sam. 'You shouldn't tell them.' Sam thought to him, his eyes portraying how it was in his best interest not to.

Nathan nodded and then looked back at them. "I had to bury my fruit tree seed. I can show you it, if you want. I made a little headstone of rocks to mark the area."

"No, we don't need to see your pitiful plant." Wesley said, squinting as he looked up at the sun.

Nathan said nothing. Sam stood up, motioning for him. "We'd best be getting to our house, ta ta!"

The Nobles looked displeased, but Nathan didn't disagree with what Sam was saying. It was true they needed to get home, it was almost night. It had been an eventful day, and Nathan didn't need any more excitement.

"Nathan! Nathan...Nathan!" Sam called, raising his voice a few times.

Nathan bolted up, the thin bed sheet slipping off his chest. "Wha-? Sam..." Nathan grumbled as he fell back down. His whole body ached from using his powers. Besides, it was really early.

"Humphrey, we have guests." Sam whispered.

Nathan sat back up. He ran his hands through his unruly hair until it looked somewhat pleasurable. He stood up and smoothed out his clothes before heading to the door. He opened it up, only to see the Nobles standing there, their eyes scanning the small, crumbling place Nathan and Sam shared. Nathan groaned. "Why are you guys here at what..."

"Four!" Sam piped up form the other room.

"Right, four...wait, four?" Nathan said, his eyes wide.

"Yes, do you not wake up early to hone your abilities?" Wesley asked, his tone gruff and somewhat displeased.

"Of course not!" Nathan said. "why would anyone want to?"

"All Elements should." Ayden said, holding up his index finger. "It is good to practice your abilities, otherwise, you could fall behind in battle."

Nathan grimaced, then quickly returned to his cheery face. "Well, I guess that suits you fine and all, but for me, I can't handle it."

"Handle what?" Ashlee asked, her right eyebrow raising up her forehead.

"The thought of killing."

"Nathan," Sam started. "you've k-"

Nathan gave Sam a death glare, causing him to clamp his mouth shut. He then turned back to planning the stores they'd hit today.

"You have killed before?" Lela asked, clearly shocked.

Nathan cleared his throat. "Well, I mean..."

"It is pretty epic." Sam said, walking over and slinging his arm around Nathan's neck. "He lifts 'em in the air and breaks their necks by lynching them! Oh, and when he is finished, he always buries them and sends a prayer to them to send 'em to Heaven, even if they were Sinners."

Nathan looked down at his hands, tears clouding his vision. Why did he do that to people? He could feel his legs wobbling, struggling to support his body weight. He fell to his knees, sobbing. Sam bent down. "I am sorry, i shouldn't have described what you do..."

Nathan shuddered. He hardly understood anything anyone was saying to him. His vision and hearing were dulled. And then, he had one of his visions.

"You won't get away with this, Spirit!" came a man's voice.

A silhouette of a man laughed. "Oh, I think I already have!"

"You will never defeat the new government as long as you live!" came a weak voice of a woman.

He was standing in the same castle as always. Blood splattered the walls and both injured and lifeless bodies lay on the ground. The injured woman was behind him, her eyes the only thing he could see. They were a golden color, and he felt hurt when he looked into them. He turned away, only to see the man, bracing himself against the wall. His beard was crusted with blood and the usual twinkle in his blue, luminescent eyes was gone.

The person who was having this experience fell to the ground, looking at their hands. Blood was splattered across it. Tears landed on his hands. "No...I could never allow Nobles to rule...never again..." The man sobbed as he curled onto the ground.

Nathan blinked, returning to reality again. Whenever he broke down because of harming someone, he'd always have that vision. The beings called him Spirit, but the castle...it looked like the ones in stories. Nathan always assumed that it had been in the past, but then again, the last thing the man said unnerved him. "...I could never allow Nobles to rule...never again...".

Something about that statement made Nathan think it could perhaps be a vision from the future, rather than in the past. Nathan sighed as he tuned back into reality.

"Is he alright?" came Ayden's voice.

"It happens a lot to him." Came a young girl's voice. Nathan smiled when he heard her voice.

"So, are you like his sister?" Came Ashlee's voice as she ate something.

"No, but he has kept me safe over the course of my life. He's a great guy who puts others before him, and he feels terrible after hurting a fly. Whenever he protects us from the evil people that attack, he always breaks down because he hurts them."

There was silence for a while. Nathan lay, forbidding his needy muscles from moving. He exhaled slowly, which drew the girl's wet hands to feel his head. She removed them and then he heard the sound of sloshing water. A cold, wet towel was laid gently on his forehead. He wanted to remove it because he didn't feel feverish, but that would ruin having this perfect chance to listen in on others thoughts without having to use his powers. It was a relaxing thing, not having to feel like you had just run through the whole town five times.

As Nathan began to get anxious, he opened his eyes. The girl stood above him. She had auburn hair with hazel eyes. Her skin was dark from spending times outside, and she was somewhat scrawny. The dress she wore had a few holes in it, but they had all been patched up from when he last saw her. Her legs were caked in dust, but she still had that lovely grin of hers. "Hello, Nathan." She hummed, gently taking off the towel.

Nathan grinned from ear to ear. "Adrianna." He said, ecstatic to see her.

He sat up, and they enclosed each other in a hug. He looked over her shoulder to see both the Nobles and Sam watching their embrace. While the Nobles' expressions didn't portray their thoughts, Sam's did. When Nathan took a quick peek into his mind, he immediately regretted it, getting out as soon as he could.

He let go of her and stepped back, only to pull her along with him. She was around the age of nine or ten, but she still had the grip of a strong man.

He gently touched her arms, careful not to harm her frail body. He then gently pulled at them, causing her to let go. She looked up at gim, sadness evident in her eyes. He chuckled as he ruffled her hair.

Adrianna was like a little sister to him, much like how Sam was a brother to him. Nathan then stepped towards the Nobles.

"Is there a specific reason for you coming?" He asked, trying not to sound too weak, even though he probably already did.

"Other than the fact to ask more questions, no. But now, we have on question for you that we wish you will answer." Wesley replied.

Nathan nodded reluctant at first. But he realized that if they were to defeat this Evil, then they would need his help and he'd need theirs. It was better to trust one another than to not, as they'd have to travel with one another, no matter the opinion.

Ayden stepped foward. Nathan noted how he seemed to have been chosen as the leader of the Nobles. Ayden cleared his throat, and then spoke. "You...ended something yesterday, right? Well, we just want to know what it was."

Nathan nodded. "Well, the being was-"

That was when someone came in through the wall.
