Chapter 8

Peter's POV

Walking into school on Monday, I felt refreshed. After not going out yesterday as Spider-Man, I was able to take my much needed rest. However, my nerves soon began to act up when an announcement came from the intercom.

"Peter Benjamin Parker. Please report to the principal's office."

Nervousness flooded in. Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. What did I do? Did they find out I was Spider-Man? Are the police waiting to ambush me in the Office?

Walking into the office, I was relieved to see no police officers were in there. Hell, there was hardly anyone in there. It was only me, the principal standing outside her office, and the school's receptionist.

"Parker! I have great news for you!" The principal, Ms. T, called out with a bright, wrinkly smile.

And the news is...?

"I-I'm glad to hear?" I commented nervously.

Ms. T led me into her office, where we sat at opposite sides of her desk, and she gave me one of the warmest smiles I've ever seen. Okay, what the heck is going on, lady? You're starting to freak me out.

"Peter, you have been selected to be one of the interns in Stark Industries."

"NO WAY! REALLY!?" I screamed jumping out of my seat in blind excitement.

"Yes, but could you please keep your voice down? My hearing aids won't be able to help me with my old age much longer with your screams." She joked, pointing to her ears where two old looking hearing aids were plugged in. I smiled sheepishly and sat back down.

"Okay, Parker. Here is an envelope with your schedule and your entrance badge." Ms. T said, handing me a bright red envelope over the desk. "Make sure not to lose it, alright? Also, seeing as you will be skipping Fridays to attend, you will need to keep your grades up. If your grades falter by more than 10%, your internship will be suspended until they return to normal."

I nodded in understanding, a big smile on my face.

"Thank you so much, Ms. T!" I chirped happily.

She smiled at me one more time before allowing me to leave. Once I was free, I couldn't wait for the dismissal bell to ring so I could open the envelope, not wanting prying eyes to see what's inside.

"Hey, Penis Parker! It's time for your daily beating." An overly familiar voice echoed from behind me when I was walking to lunch. I internally groaned. Damn it. I was having such a good day today. Couldn't this wait for some other day?

I turned around to see Flash's fist going straight for my face. To my eyes, it appeared to be going in slow motion. My spidey senses were screaming at me to dodge and fight back. I ignored it and let Flash have his way with me until he left me as a bruised lump on the floor. This is sooo much fun. I sigh before picking myself up off the ground.

Time Skip to After School

After getting beat up and sitting painfully through classes, I sprung to life as soon as the final bell rang. FINALLY!! Today's been hellish after Flash. Running as fast as I could down the halls, I made my way out of the school and across town to the kids' schools. Their cheerful greetings when I picked them up lifted my spirits almost immediately.Taking them to the Orphanage, Medusa was luckily passed out on the couch, empty bottles surrounding her on the floor.

"Okay, Spiderling Club. Make sure to do homework. When I get back, I'll make everyone dinner, okay?" I told them as they settled into the boy's bedroom. They all nodded with smiles as I jumped out the window.

Walking into an empty and dark alleyway, I quickly changed into my suit and stuffed my regular clothes into my backpack. Throwing my backpack high in the air, I webbed it to the wall where no one but I could reach it. Don't want anyone taking that, now do we.

"Time to get to work." I mumbled to myself before swinging off.

Within the first five minutes, I sensed an enormous apartment building fire a block away. I swung to the over and immediately heard a man's screams in the crowd below.

"Let me through! I need to get them out! My Wife! She's still in there! I have to get to them!" The man yelled, pointing to the top floor of the building and trying to push passed the police and firefighters. Without hesitation, I slingshot myself into the building through an open window.

Landing on my feet with a little roll, I began looking around. Fire spread everywhere I looked and rubble was falling down every few seconds. Smoke entered my lungs through the mask, making me cough a bit.

"Hey! Is there anyone in here? Hello!" I yelled out as loud as I could with my already scratchy voice.

"Y-Yes! Over here! Please help!" a woman's voice said from the room next to me. I quickly made my way in and scanned the room.

A blonde woman was curled up in the corner, a protective hand on her large stomach. Seeing me, she smiled weakly before going into a coughing fit. Ignoring the fire burning at my legs, I ran over to her and bent down beside her.

"Come on, miss. Let's get you out of here." I told her, carefully lifting her up bridal style.

"P-Please do. I-I don't think the smoke in her is good for the baby." She smiled weakly, pointing to her belly. I nod and take her to the nearest window as quick as I could. Reaching the window, my spider sense began ringing. Crap! The building's going to collapse!

"Alright, miss. I'm going to need to hold on to me as tight as you can." I tell her, Shifting my hold on her so I have one arm free to shoot my webs. She nodded, wrapping her arms around my neck tightly.

I jumped out the window just as the building began to crumble beneath my feet, causing her to scream a bit in surprise. Using my free arm, I swung down to the crowd and set the woman down beside her husband. They immediately hugged each other, but were cut short when the paramedics began to escort them to an ambulance.

"Spider-Man, you're hurt! Let us help you." One of the paramedics said from behind me. Hurt? I looked down to see he was right. My suit was burned all the way through in a few areas, showing my burned skin from underneath. Blood was trickling down from a couple cuts on my body from the debris. Pain seared through me as I finally paid attention to my body. How did I not notice this?

"Thanks, but I'm fine." I told him, shooting a web into the distance, readying myself to leave.

"Thank you, Spider-Man!" The woman I had saved yelled out to me from the ambulance before the doors were shut. I felt a warm feeling inside me as I swung away. I'm sure they'll be a happy family with the love they have...Family... I shook my head clear of thoughts before I could make myself depressed from the happy feelings. I checked my watch and felt my heart drop. It's already 6?! I should have been at the orphanage making dinner half an hour ago!!

Before I could even start swinging back, my spider sense went haywire, warning me that I was being watched from behind.

"Who's there!" I yelled, spinning on my heel.

Three people stepped out of the shadows. I immediately recognized them and was struggling to keep my excitement inside me. Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye are standing right in front of me!!! Play it cool, Peter!

"Whoa! H-Hi! I'm a big fan! C-Can I take a picture with you?" I say, internally face-palming at myself. Way to play it cool, Parker. Captain America took a step toward me, a small smile on his face.

"Thanks, but I'm afraid that'll have to wait for some other time. You're going to have to come with us." He said, his smile disappearing by the time he finishes talking.

What? What did I do? Wait. The Avengers work for the government. They obviously wouldn't want a vigilante to be running around. Not to mention one with powers. Could the government be wanting to experiment on me for my powers? Can't let that happen. I have to take care of the orphanage kids!

"How's about no?" I tell them, keeping my voice steady so I don't show my internal panic.

"Then, we're going to have to drag you back." Black Widow announced, taking a step forward. Hawkeye lifted his bow, readying an arrow.

"Sorry, but I have kids to feed, so if you don't mind, I'll be taking my leave."

They seemed confused at my statement about kids, giving me an opportunity. I quickly shot webs at all their feet, sticking them all firmly to the ground. Hawkeye shot the arrow, which I easily dodged before jumping off the roof. Racing to my backpack, I changed in record time before running back to the orphanage. Looking up, I could see the three of them in the distance, looking around in confusion. I laughed to myself at their curses before entering the orphanage through the window.

"Peter! You're back!" Danai whisper-yelled, directing everyone's attention to me.

"Yeah, sorry I'm late, guys. I'm sure you're all hungry." I said, tossing my backpack into my closet room.

"I'll get started on dinner right now." I announced, carefully making my way down to the kitchen.

"YOU WOKE ME UP, YOU LITTLE BITCH!! GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!!" Medusa's voice screeched from where she had been sleeping.

Ugh. Just great. I'm sorry, kids. It looks like dinner is going to be even later tonight.

Tony's POV

Finally free from Pepper's tower of paperwork after an entire week, I made my way to the common room. I wonder what the others are up to. I've been locked in there by myself for an entire week, for crying out loud.

As soon as I entered the room, a glum aura surrounded me. Everyone was silent and standing around the kitchen area of the room.

"What's going on?" I asked, standing between Stephen and Bruce. I smirked when they all jumped a bit at my sudden presence, well except for Natasha, Clint, and Bucky of course. Why is it so damn hard to scare some ex-assassins? No Fun.

"You've missed a lot while you were gone, Stark." Fury's voice announced from the elevator.

"Oh yeah? Then spill it, eyepatch." I smirk, earning a small warning nudge from Stephen to behave.

"The Avengers were supposed to apprehend the local vigilante called Spider-Man." Fury begins, joining us in the kitchen. "But it doesn't seem like he's cooperating, so this means everyone will have to join in the hunt." Hunt?

"Hunt? Isn't he just a kid in a suit?" Stephen asked, voicing my thoughts. Natasha shook his head.

"I highly doubt that he's a kid. Spider-Man mentioned having kids to feed, so he could be using a voice modification device." She explained, crossing her arms. "Not only that, but he's highly skilled. He was able to dodge Clint's arrow and get out of our sights before we could even blink. He did all this while he was injured. Burns and blood were all over his body."

Looking around, I notice Katniss wasn't here. He must be sulking in the vents again.

"We need a plan to catch him." Steve states the obvious, looking extremely serious as usual. I smirked and begin walking away.

"I have a plan: Catch him." I announce as I enter the elevator. They all roll their eyes while the elevator doors close.

Time Skip to Friday, brought to you by Loki's perfect little smirk

Peter's POV

IT'S FINALLY FRIDAY!!! Thank god! I've had a tiring week of hiding from the Avengers while on my patrols. It's surprisingly easy to sneak away from a group of superheroes for almost a week.

I jumped out of bed and got everyone ready as quick as I could. They all looked up at me excited and a few were even jumping up and down. Luckily they weren't as hyper as when I had told them the news of my internship yesterday. I wasn't able to calm them down for hours.

"Okay, everyone. Let's get going!" I chirped as we left the orphanage.

They all talked to each other happily behind me as I led them to school. As soon as the last kid went through the gate, I sprinted off to the Stark building. As excited as I was, I was deadly nervous.

What if I screw something up with Parker Luck? What if they find out I'm Spider-Man? Could that make my internship end?

Waking up to the tower, I stared up in awe at it. The tower practically touched the sky while the glass windows reflected the sunlight, making it look like a shining beacon to the world. Okay, now I REALLY want to climb up onto the roof.

Walking in, I nervously looked around the lobby, not wanting to already be in the wrong place. Finding a cluster of teenagers by a large elevator to my left was a sign. Nervously making my way over to them, I notice every single one of them are older than me, most likely in their senior year of high school....Great. I'm the youngest of the bunch, aren't I?

"H-Hey. Is this the group for the Stark Internship from the exam contests?" I stutter to the nearest person to me. It was a blonde girl with green eyes. She looked at me with slight confusion before nodding, rolling her eyes, and turning her back on me. Thanks for the help, but RUDE!

"Alrighty, Interns!" A woman with a strange hair color walked out of the large doors, holding a clipboard. "My name is Ms. Potts and I'll be your boss from now on. It's nice to meet all of you."

Wait. As in CEO of Stark Industries: Ms. Potts?!? Wow! This is so cool!!!

I smiled excitedly as she began to lead us toward the unusually large elevator across the room. However, she stopped suddenly half way and turned to face us.

"Ah-! I almost forgot! Is Mr. Peter Parker here?" She called out to us, glancing down at her clipboard for my name. Oh, god. What did I do?

"Y-Yes ma'am!" I said, raising my hand high so it could be seen above the giants in front of me. For nerds, they were all much taller than I was, though that was expected with four years age difference. I began to worm my way through the crowd so she could see me clearly. Ms. Potts smiled kindly as I made my way to the front.

"Nice, to meet you, Peter. I'm happy to inform you that you won't be working with us." She announced, making my heart drop. W-What did I do?!? Oh, god! I screwed it up already! I couldn't even make it passed the lobby, for crying out loud!

She suddenly began to burst out into a laughing fit, earning a few nervous laughs and confused whispers from the group behind me.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. I was joking, Peter. You still have your internship." Ms.Potts told me, placing a hand on my shoulder to comfort me. I smiled weakly at her joke, but I could feel myself shaking. The group of seniors finally caught on to what she had done and started giggling and laughing at my reaction. You're really funny, Ms. Potts, but I was probably not the best person to play that joke on. I think I almost had a real heart attack. She seemed to notice my shaking and straightened herself out with a warm smile.

"While, you still have your internship, Mr. Parker, you really aren't going to be working with us. You had the highest score on the exam out of everyone, so you get the special job of being Mr. Stark's personal intern." She explained, smiling brightly at me.

¨A-Are you serious?¨ I questioned warily, not sure if she was joking again. She nodded and pointed to the elevator ahead.

"You will be working with Tony in his lab, along with helping him with his paperwork when he has any. Just walk into the elevator and tell FRIDAY your name. She'll take you to Tony's lab." Ms. Potts instructed, beginning to lead the group into a whole other direction.

I walked into the elevator and as the doors began to close, it finally began to process into my head. I...am Tony Stark's personal intern...oh my god...OH MY GOD I'M TONY STARKS PERSONAL INTERN!! I'M GOING TO MEET TONY STARK!!!

¨Hello, there. Might I ask who you are before my protocol forces me to call security?" A woman's monotonous voice asked from the ceiling.

"Oh! Uhm. My name is Peter Parker. Ms. Potts told me that someone named FRIDAY would take me to Mister Stark's Lab." I explained, staring up at the ceiling.

"I am FRIDAY, Tony Stark's AI. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Parker." She greeted.

"It's nice to meet you too, FRIDAY! You're really cool! I read about you in one of Mister Stark's books before. Y-You can just call me Peter."

"Very well, Peter. Thank you. We have now reached Tony's lab." She announced, opening the elevator doors.

"Thank you, FRIDAY!" I thanked, walking out of the elevator.

Walking straight, I soon came to a glass wall and door. Looking through, I could see all sorts of equipment inside along with a few robots moving around. Barely containing my excitement from turning into a scream, I went through the surprisingly unlocked doors and decided to lake a look around.

No harm in just looking, right?
