CAUTION - THIS CHAPTER INCLUDES GORE. IT ALSO INCLUDES NIGHTMARES AND THINGS THAT AREN'T REAL. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
"No," Peter gasped, stumbling backwards. "Y-You're not real. Y-You're dead! I saw it, you had a funeral!" Captain Stacy looked up; his eyes were hazed, and looked through Peter's soul.
"Yes," he finally rasped. "that you didn't bother to go to." He stumbled towards Peter. "You broke your promise, boy. And now my daughter is dead!" Peter put his hands to his head; shaking and screamed. What he didn't see was the startled gasp of Wanda behind a pillar. Pietro stood beside her, not seeing the terrible nightmare, just staring at the boy -- Peter --screaming for it to stop. Wanda just watched in horror as Peter's nightmare came true.
"No-- I-I tried to save her--I-I really did! She just fell t-too quickly!" Peter screeched at the ghost.
"Peter, you and I both know that's not true. You've murdered before. Why not do it again?" Peter stilled. He turned and looked around, Captain Stacy had vanished, replaced with Uncle Ben. Peter stared at him in horror. He tore off his mask, unable to breath correctly. Pietro drew in a breath at Peter's tear-stained face. Ben took at step forward, blood still seeping through the gunshot. The bullet buried in his chest gleamed.
"No! I didn't m-murder anyone!" Peter screamed at him. Ben tilted his head as if confused.
"Oh yes you did, son. You murdered me, you could have stopped it, but no. You murder me, Peter!" Ben screamed at him.
"Is-Is that true, Peter?" Peter dropped his mask. He turned to his Aunt May. Ben had disappeared through thin air. "Did you kill my Ben?"
"No!" Peter screeched in agony.
"Oh my-," May said, she covered her mouth with her hand. "You killed my Ben!"
Peter collapsed.
He couldn't take it anymore.
Ben and Captain Stacy appeared again.
"You're a murderer. You killed us. You're not a hero. You're not innocent." They chanted, growing louder and louder.
"No!" Peter screeched over and over. Wanda gasped and put a hand over her mouth. Pietro held her shoulders next to his chest.
"Stop it, stop it, stop it!" Peter yelled. "Be quiet!" Suddenly, they stopped. Peter glanced up, and saw that they vanished. The building vanished too. He was in a watchtower. A very familiar watchtower.
"Oh no-," Peter whispered. Gwen was behind him.
"Why didn't you catch me, Pete?" she asked softly. She lifted her gaze to him, her eyes hard and her eyelashes soft.
"I tried to-," Peter began, but was interrupted.
"Was I not important enough for you?" Gwen asked again. Her voice was still soft, but held hardness to it.
"No! You were everything-," Peter tried again, but she interrupted him once more.
"Then why did you murder me?" She screeched. Peter shook his head.
"You murdered me, I wasn't good enough for you? Are you happy that I'm long gone? Are you happy that I thought you loved me, but really didn't? Are you happy you tricked me? Are you happy that I'm gone and there's nothing you could do? Are you happy that you murdered me?" She yelled and screeched. Peter covered his ears.
Gwen's eyes and mouth started pouring blood. It kept pouring until she was covered in the red liquid. The red started turning darker until it was pitch black, and nothing about her figure looked at all human. She started to shatter, turning into dust before his very eyes. All he could do was watch in complete horror. Gwen was now a pile of black on the ground, and when the wind blew, she followed. She vanished in the air.
The nightmare was over. Wanda was shaking. Pietro held her in his arms.
"Are you okay?" he asked her softly. Wanda nodded slowly.
"N-Not again, Pietro. It-It was horrid!" Pietro nodded to her and looked at the boy. Peter was shaking on the ground. He held his arms close to him and bent over, exhaling. His breath was shaking, from the tears, Pietro supposed. He breathed in and out multiple times, before shakily got to his feet. He grabbed his mask. He stood up. He put the mask on. He basically fell off of Oscorp. He fell onto a fire escape with a thud. Wanda flinched when he didn't move for a matter of seconds; possibly minutes. At the point where Wanda thought the boy would never get up, the boy shifted. He groaned, and stood up. That'll be a bunch of bruises tomorrow. Ouch.
"Did you catch his name?" Pietro asked softly. Wanda breathed in a breath.
"I-I think it was Peter." Wanda hesitated. "It was Peter."
