Space Grape
Fallen angel au
This does not follow infinity war or Endgame at all, just a heads up
---
Being a guardian angel is hard work. You never get any time for yourself, always worrying about your human. Or on my case humans.
I was the (un)lucky guy to be given Tony Stark. Over the years I have witnessed him doing some pretty dumb shit. But then he was recruited to join the avengers. Now I am pretty much their babysitter. Watching them carefully from a distance.
Only recently did my boss (no not God, he is my boss's boss) decide I should go to earth and help them out. We had sensed a great danger coming to earth, so most angels were doing the same. But the avengers need protecting more than most, no matter what they say.
So that takes us to now. I am currently lounging around in the avengers common room, listening to one of Rhodey's stories that I have already heard a thousand times.
My wings are constantly cloaked now, which is a pain in the ass but it must be done. I can feel the ruffle against my back, longing to be taken out and stretched. Soon. I tell myself. Soon everyone can know.
"Peter?" Oops I must have zoned out.
"Sorry, just thinking." Tony smiles at me and I return it. Sitting in front of him I can see just how tired he really is. He masks it well, but I have been looking out for him since childhood. I know him better than he knows himself.
"So kid, how's life outside the tower? You never mention much about school." I don't go. "Or family." Don't have one.
"Everything's good." I say with a little to much urgency for it to be believable. Luckily these people know when not to push and don't ask me any more questions.
We sit and talk for another hour before Friday's warning alarm blares overhead. My first instinct is to decloak my wings, but I can't do that. So I settle for the next best thing.
"Karen suit please." I say into my earpiece. A piece of the ceiling slides open allowing a small spider drone to fly down and attach to my chest. My spider suit cocoons around me.
I am one of the first ones to the scene, along with Tony and Thor. Hovering above New York, casting a looming shadow that drenches the city in black, is a huge space craft.
Thanos.
That bloody space grape! Can I not get a moments peace. I have literally just recovered from the whole slokovia ordeal (helping from the sidelines of course).
"Cap get out here now!" Tony yells through the Comms, powering his thrusters. Before I can stop him he is flying up to the craft at full speed. I curse under my breath and race after him, dodging weird ass lasers on my way up.
Tony gets halfway up before a huge beam of purple light shoots him out the sky.
"NO!"
Acting out of pure instinct my wings uncloak and I hurtle through the air in order to catch my friend. I reach him just before he hits the tower, so rest him on the roof.
His breath is shallow and weak, but his pulse remains strong.
"You can't die. I can't fail you Tony." I mutter, frantically trying every spell I know to slow his bleeding.
"Pe-ter." He whimpers through laboured breaths. His eyes open the slightest bit and instantly clamped shut. Probably at the drastic change in my appearance.
You see when my wings decloak that isn't the only thing that changes. Instead of a deep hazel, my eyes turn the brightest gold, laced with blue. My hair is slightly longer and much lighter. Other than the more toned muscle and taller appearance nothing else really changes. But I can assume for Tony I look like a completely different person.
"It's okay Tony. You are going to be okay. My magic has slowed you bleeding and Bruce is on his way to get you. In the mean time," I wave my hand over his body and a shimmering sheet encases him. A force field that is completely impenetrable. "This will keep you safe."
I stand up, and cast one more soft smile at Tony before setting my gaze on the ship.
Thanks is going to pay for that.
One beat of my wings sends me hurtling through the air until I am online with the large barred window of the cockpit.
"Thanos get out here you bloody space grape and face me." I yell knowing full well I had every single set of eyes focused on me. It's not everyday you see an angel floating in front of a weird alien space ship.
"Ah the child. I knew there was something more to you than meets the eye." The purple titan comes into view, 'protected' by the glass.
"Come. Out."
"Not a chance. I shall enjoy watching a creature of your power fall at my feet." I huff out a laugh and swipe my hand. The glass shatters, sending shards everywhere. Multiple lodge into his skin, drawing deep purple blood.
"How dare you!"
"Don't insult me then. It's that simple." I snide, sending more glass though the air.
Thanos clenches his fist, the red infinity stone flashing dangerously. Honestly he thinks he can defeat me with those? Child's play compared to what I can do.
The glass swirls mid air and forms a black hole. He pushes it towards me. I don't even bat an eye as it passes through me.
"Wha- how? How can you defy the power of the infinity stones." Thanos cries, suddenly extremely terrified. Good.
"My name is Peter Parker. I was tasked to protect Tony Stark from all evil, which up until now has been pretty easy. But you are getting on my last nerves space grape so I think it's time for you to meet my boss."
My wings vibrate and my eyes glow a fiery gold. Thanos is drawn into my grip and I throw him from the craft, ripping the gauntlet off as I do so.
I let him fall a little before flying next to him.
"Having fun?" Punch. Jeez this guy is really thick isn't he!
"Ah ah ah, I wouldn't do that if I were you. That ground seems awfully close. I would hate to have to clean up your...mess." his eyes widen in fear, spreading a satisfied smirk across my face.
"Please spare me. Please."
"Since you asked nicely." I grab part of his armour and he stops his decent. I fly to the landing zone of the tower where the entire group of avengers is watching wide eyed. I throw Thanos at their feet and dust of my hands.
"I believe you were looking for him." I say with an innocent smile, feathers ruffling behind me.
"An angel. I wouldn't have guessed that." Loki quips with a fond smile. I have always liked him.
"As much as I would love to answer your questions there is a massive space ship to take care of. Do what you want with him."
I take of once more, this time muttering a series of destructive spells. I tuck my wings in and do a barrell roll, gaining speed with each tight turn. I feel the heat as my body collides with the metal but no pain comes with it. The energy created from the turns mixed with my magic burns a hole straight through the alien metal, blowing the ship up from the inside.
As I break through the other side I yell a spell causing the entire ship to freeze mid air. As if all time had stopped.
"I am gonna need a little help with this guys." I whisper, knowing angels in New York can hear my plead.
As I expected hundreds of white blues shot up into the sky and hovered under the spacecraft. In unison we chanted spell after spell until the ship was nothing more that a greyish dust.
I return to the tower feeling very relieved. I prevented Tony's death and captured the universe's most notorious killer.
I land and shake of my feathers, hating the fact that there is specks of ash littering the pure white.
"So you're an angel." Nat says, scaring the life out of me.
"Yes I am." I stutter trying to regain my breath.
"When were you gonna tell us."
"Well never was always the plan. This isn't really allowed."
"So what are you gonna do? Wipe our memory?" Clint joked, to which I scratch my neck and laugh awkwardly.
"Well, I am supposed to do just that actually. But you guys know how to keep a secret."
They all chuckled at that and continued to ask me questions until a panicked Bruce came rushing in.
"Tony is awake and asking for Peter. He seems very distressed and I can't do anything."
I take of running, casting half hearted apologies over my shoulder to the people I knocked over with my wings.
I need to see Tony.
There will be a considerably shorter part 2 to this. It's not my best work but I like it all the same!
