Awareness

Quick A/N before I start this fic. So I want to spread awareness of disabilities and disorders, so my stories are going to become more inclusive. In this fic Peter is on the autism spectrum. I will explain more about his needs in the story itself. Peter isn't Spiderman in this, he has no powers.

I hope you enjoy. I would like to remind everyone that mean/hateful comments towards this disability won't be appreciated and I may report them

Peter climbed out of bed and stumbled to the shower. He washed over himself quickly, got dressed into his favourite sweatpants and hoodie and headed down to the open planned kitchen for breakfast. May was yet to return from the hospital, and since Peter was not allowed to use the stove since last years pancake accident, he was left with an apple.

He munched on it slowly and flicked on the TV. His eyes lit up when he saw a news story on Tony Stark. He has admired the billionaire for as long as he could remember. Tony is the reason Peter is so interested in robotics and has managed to obtain a place at Midtown Tech, a very hard school to get into.

This recent placement also spurred him to apply for an internship, which he is yet to hear about. It is true they usually only accept college student, but Peter has a higher IQ than Bruce Banner, so is bound to get an interview at least.

Once he finished of his apple, he logged onto his Nintendo, as Saturday's were lazy days for Peter. One thing you should know about Peter Parker, he has autism. Not that he lets it define him in anyway shape or form. Peter is an incredibly smart kid, with heightened interests for certain things such as robotics, video games and superheroes. But this does leave him with very severe social anxiety, so severe that he can barely talk to anyone except Aunt May in coherent sentences. On the days he doesn't feel like talking, he uses sign language to communicate which he picked up very quickly due to his brilliant brain.

On his fifth round of Mario Kart he heard a click at the front door. Aunt May stumbled in with bags of groceries in hand, still wearing her scrubs. Peter paused the game and went to aid his aunt. She looked utterly exhausted and Peter hated that she never let herself relax.

"Thank you Peter." May thanked, setting her bags down on the table and began unpacking them. Peter did the same with his bags, except he didn't really care about where he stored the groceries. It was a valiant effort, but May had to sweep through the kitchen and reorganise everything once Peter resumed his game.

That night May forced herself to leave the comfort of her couch, not knowing that this would be the last time she saw her nephew.

(Time skip to a week later, for referance it is a Thursday... because I can)

Peter had been walking round in a daze of sorts, unable to communicate in anyway. The psychiatrist is worried but his orphanage couldn't care less. They even stopped paying for the medical help saying he will get over it eventually.

The only thing that kept Peter going was the interview at Stark Towers. He couldn't have received the news at a better time (I hope you sense the sarcasm). Despite the poor timing it seemed that the news was exactly what Peter needed to keep him from shutting down completely. The interview was to be held the next at 5:00pm.

No one knew of this, not that they would care in the slightest. But inside Peter was beyond excited. These emotions kept his grief at bay, smothering it completely at times.

*Beep Beep*

Peter groaned and smashed his alarm a little to hard. It spun of his desk and hit the floor with a very loud bang. Peter tenses instinctively, forgetting that everyone would already be waking up. He picked up his clock, placed it in exactly the same position and started his morning routine.

The other kids pushed past him on their way to the dining room. They knew he hated people being close to him, but found humour in his reactions spurring them to do it more. The rest of the morning was spent ignoring the kids and munching on his cereal. When the owner came down from their room, the kids scattered, most heading out the door for school despite it being 7:00am. Peter didn't really understand why they did this, so stayed in his seat and carried on.

That was until he felt a sharp stinging sensation on his cheek. He looked up hurt and confused, and came face to face with Skip Wescott, the psychopathic owner.

"Get. Up." He spat and Peter quickly complied. Skip proceeded to slam Peter into the opposite wall and punch his stomach repeatedly. Peter squirmed and the man's hot breath plastered onto his face. This reaction made Skip chuckle.

"You don't like that huh? What about this." Skip leaned in so his slimy lips brushed Peter's. The poor boy visibly gagged at the close proximity, pushing at the man who gripped his sides harshly.

A small cough at the door made Skip launch of Peter. Peter slid to the floor on the brink of a panic attack. The young boy at the door pointed to Skip's office and said he had a call. Skip sighed and walked out the room, not without one last look at the crying boy. Once he was sure he was gone the boy from the door rushed to Peter's side.

"Are you okay?" He asked frantically, lifting Peter's head ever so slightly. Peter gazed into the blue irises staring at him, unable to form any words. The boy understood and continued to speak.

"My name is Wade. I am new here too. I am a little older than you, two years to be exact. It sucks because I am nearly seventeen and still living in a home." The boy, now known as Wade, babbled on about anything ad everything eventually drawing little laughs from Peter. Wade considered this a success and stood up, offering his hand out. Peter took it and stood up.

"Well I think I go to the same school as you, so if you want we can walk together." Wade offered, grabbing their bags from the hallway and handing Peter his. Peter nodded and the two left the home, smiling for the first time in a while.

(Another time skip because i'm lazy af)

"Hey Peter!" Wade called, making Peter turn around. It was the end of the day and Peter was practically buzzing with excitement. Wade knew he wouldn't get an answer, so he didn't ask why.

Peter's face lit up even more upon seeing his new friend and bounded over to him.

"Ready to go?" Peter shook his head.

"I want to go to central park." He signed. Thankfully Wade knew sign language and agreed. After a painfully long subway ride they arrived at the park.

They wandered aimlessly, Peter killing time before his interview and Wade just happy for the company. He had grown fond of the boy, reminded him of himself when he was younger.

"So Petey is there a reason we are walking around aimlessly an hour away from home?" Wade asked. Peter remained silent, kicking at the dried leaves on the floor. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. But I promise I won't tell anyone if you do."

"Promise?" Peter whispered, speaking for the first time since going into care.

"Promise." Wade swore holding out his hand to shake on it. Peter took it with a laugh.

"I have an interview with Stark Industries." Peter said beaming from ear to ear. The happiness seemed to be infectious because Wade was beaming to.

"Peter that's amazing! When is it." Peter glanced down at his watched and a slightly paniked expression crossed his face.

"In ten minutes!" He said with a shaky voice.

"Well lets go!" Wade yelled, taking Peters hand and sprinting off in the direction of the tower. They made it with a few minutes to spare. Peter asked Wade to come with him, giving him puppy dog eyes the blonde just couldn't refuse.

They walk into the tower, still hand in hand and head to the front desk. Peter shrank back, slightly hesitant to talk.

"Hello how may I help you." The receptionist asked with a confused expression. Probably wondering why on earth two kids are in the lobby.

"Peter here has an interview for an intern position." Wade declared looking proud of his new found friend. The receptionist signed Peter in and told him to head up to floor twenty. When the two tried to leave, Wade was stopped and asked to leave as he was not permitted to enter the building any further.

Peter looked defeated and stared pleadingly at the receptionist.

"Its okay Peter I will wait here." Peter shook his head and tugged on his wrist. Wade glanced at the lady, who gave a slight nod of her head clearly feeling sympathy for Peter. After a quick thank you the pair headed to the elevator.

"State your names and floor number." A voice in the ceiling said that made the boys yelp.

"Um Wade Wilson and Peter Parker. Floor Twenty." Wade stuttered, looking to the heaven in pure confusion.

"Its an AI." Peter stated simply, gripping the bars as the elevator began to climb. Wade nodded but still had no idea what that meant. The closer they came to twenty, the more anxious Peter became. He fiddled with the hem of his hoodie and chewed on his lip.

"Careful you don't want a split lip when you go for an interview." Wade joked, gently dragging his thumb down Peter's chin dislodging his lip. (A/N there was probably a better way to describe that but oh well) Peter blushed furiously at the contact, but couldn't reply as the doors slid open revealing a long hall.

Dotted down the hall were conference rooms of various sizes. They were given a room number - room 12 - which was right at the end of the corridor. As they neared it, it also appeared to be the largest room on the floor. Peter knocked on the door and it slid open. Peter almost fainted when he saw who was inside.

Tony Freaking Stark.

"Before you say anything, you have already got the job and you start on Monday." Tony said, with a slight smirk at the boys reaction. Peter's mouth opened and closed like a fish, unable to form a sentence.

"Petey move." Wade whispered nudging him slightly. Peter snapped out of his daze and took a seat at the desk. Wade waited outside, allowing the doors to close behind him.

"I can see your a bit shocked," Peter nodded. "I read your application and was absolutely blown away by your achievements. Plus your academic ability is beyond anything I have ever seen. I just had to hire you as my personal intern."

"Your- your intern?" Peter stuttered.

"Yes. I know the position was originally a regular internship, but i feel your talents are much better suited with me." Peter bounced in his chair slightly, unable to contain his excitement. Tony thought this was absolutely adorable.

"Thank you Mr Stark. Thank you so much." Peter was very close to tears. Never in a million years did he think he would end up working for the Tony Stark. It was a dream come true. Tony stood up and walked round the table.

"You want a tour of the labs?" He asked with a warm smile.

"Can Wade come to?" Peter asked, crossing his finger behind his back. Tony sighed but nodded, not wanting to deny this child of anything. Peter rushed through the door and dragged Wade to the elevator, making both Wade and Tony laugh wholeheartedly.

Peter was already talking away to Friday when Tony reached the lift. Tony was pleasantly surprised by this kid. Peter did seem to have a way of making people like him without really doing much.

"I should introduce Friday to Karen." Peter said out of the blue. Wade was very confused but Tony, having read all about Karen in Peter's application, knew exactly what he was talking about.

"You should. Maybe I can integrate her into a a smart phone for you, that way you can have her on you at all times, rather than just at home." Peter's face lit up and he nodded vigorously. He wanted to do that since day one, but his family was never financially able to supply Peter with phones if the integration failed.

The elevator dinged and the doors opened to a massive lab. Both Peter and Wade were shocked by the amounts of tech lying around. But the thing that caught their attention was a wall of iron man suits encased in glass.

Peter spun around taking it all in where as Wade went straight up to the suits and gaped at them. He sure hoped Mr Stark would let him up here sometimes, because he could get used to this sight.

Ight so I realised how long this is so it's gonna be a two parter. Stay tuned for the update it could be a while x
