Two days after the previous chapter (Civil War happened and the two groups are still not on good terms) BTW! Shoutout to Gracie_Bookworm for answering the answering the Flash in the previous chapter! 

Rhodey’s POV(cause he’s awesome but ignored)

I cautiously peeked into Tony’s lab, ready to run away at 50 miles an hour. He had been going to the lab everyday at five A.M., and leaving at 11 in the night. When he did this it either meant that he was working on some amazing suit or piece of equipment, or that his lab would explode.

Most often it was the latter. Or both. It was usually both. 

But this time it seemed to be neither. There was a kid there with him. “Tones..?” I asked carefully, testing the waters. “Why is there a twelve year old with you?”

“Oh yeah, Rhodes,” Tony answered casually. “He’s my new personal intern, Peter.”

“And I’m turning sixteen in a month!” The kid-no teen said ingantitly. As he glared at me I actually got a good look at his face. Curly brown hair, pale skin, Bambi eyes…

He was adorable.

And in that split second, I saw Tony, back when we were at MIT. The skinny, short kid that was younger than everyone else, the kid that everyone underestimated. And in that same second, I decided I wanted to be friends with Tony: I would protect him at all costs.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by a beeping sound that was loud and quite familiar.

Tony looked between me, Peter, and whatever they were building. “F-”

I gave him a stern look and jerked my head towards Peter.

“-lip.” He finished. “Flip. Like you always say, kid.”

The beeping got louder and more intense.

All three of us looked at each other and bolted, making it out just before the lab exploded.

“Huh.” Tony said as the smoke cleared. “I guess it worked.”

I guess that it was both.
