CHAPTER10
Felix sat on the swing set in an amicable silence, the occasional chattering of children trick or treating filled his bubble as they walked down the road, but other than that the play ground was absent from all other life. The cool october chill pecked at his exposed neck, the spiderman mask clasped fighting in his grip. After the bite he didn't get as cold as he did before, amongst other changes.
Evenings like this were always a blessing, they let him have a couple moments to think and relax. Unwind. Like the entire city of Seoul had collectively decided to stop all their wrong doings to let him have a couple hours of nothing but solidarity. Although sometimes it also felt like a curse, since what else was there to him now? It seemed while everyday was exhilarating and there was nothing that could compare to swinging amongst the tall building- it all got a bit lonely. No one really noticed it was his doing...so was there a reason to keep going?
Felix blinked at his own thoughts for a moment, before physically shaking them off. Ridiculous, he thought, I'm doing this for the city. For the people. To be that friendly neighbourhood super hero people don't mind swinging through the shops to buy a sandwich as. He wouldn't give this up for the world.
But it was terribly lonely, keeping it a secret from friends and family.
He ran a hand over the smooth spandex material over his arms, the bumps of the bullet proof coating relaxing somehow in a way. He was given this suit by Iron Man, like, come on, fricking Iron Man! How could he not enjoy this job?
All of a sudden, a shrill ran up his spine and his eyes widened. His senses warning him of creeping danger, so he shot up, turning around ready to-
"Oh my god- Felix?" An all to familiar voice said back at him, just as he was about to raise his hands in defence.
Felix panicked, gripping onto the mask tighter, stumbling on his words, "J-Jeongin? How did you-"
"Dude! We both dressed up as spiderman!" Jeongin shouted, gesturing to their almost identical costumes.
Well almost identical, since you know, Felix was wearing an extremely high tech and futuristic version of the cloth one Jeongin was wearing. That and, Jeongin had paired it with a pair of (ridiculously tight) black skinny jeans. He pulled the mask of his head to reveal a brightly grinning boy, his hair ruffled and sticking up.
Felix felt an overwhelming need to run his fingers through Jeongin's hair.
So, he did, because they were dating! (I know, wild right?!)
Jeongin stilled at the gesture, before melting into it, his grin softening into a smile.
"I thought you were going to dress up as Iron Man?" Jeongin hummed, though more into the impromptu head rub he was receiving than Felix's actual answer.
Felix was going to, in fact, he had his iron man mask waiting for him at home. But, he got a little distracted.
There was a small neighbourhood, not that far from his own, where crime rates could get exceedingly high on nights like this. So Felix, or Spiderman, took the liberty of chaperoning a gaggle of little children, those who had a working parent(s) that night or too scared to go out alone. So with spiderman by there side, they could experience a little bit of joy by trick or treating without fear for that one evening.
By the time they had gone round every block of flats, it was nearing 7, and Felix had taken a moment to sit on the swings to take a 5 minute breather. 5 minutes became half an hour, and before he knew it, Jeongin had arrived to meet him for Hyunjin's annual Halloween party.
But he couldn't tell any of that to Jeongin, so he smiled and pulled the other in for a hug, muttering a quick, 'changed my mind last minute'.
Jeongin snorted at the answer, but said nothing more. They parted from the hug, and were left with nothing but the space between them to care about. With their face only inches apart, there wasn't much else to do that admire that of Jeongin's features.
While it was Jeongin's most 'hated' thing, Felix loved Jeongin's braces. When he smiled, it was heaven hitting the other boy in the face, promptly reminding him that he was in fact, dating an angel. Jeongin had told him they would getting removed in a couple months, and Felix will most definitely cry.
"Why you staring at me, weirdo." Jeongin mumbled, looking embarrassed.
Felix loved the red tint on the others face, so he simply smiled even more.
Jeongin grumbled something that sounded like 'cute little fucker' before pulling himself away from Felix, quicking running towards the monkey bars.
Felix chuckled at the younger boys childish nature, as he watched Jeongin climb into them, sitting on them comfortably.
"What? You never seen a spider climb?" He said, in a deep voice, probably trying to mimick Felix's own voice.
Felix rolled his eyes, "Spiderman doesn't talk like that."
"You sure about that?" Jeongin replied, raising an eyebrow and throwing his arms towards the sky, "Because I think- WOW!"
He suddenly cried, falling backwards. Felix reacted immediately, jumping towards the boy before he fell backwards, all but throwing himself onto the dirty ground to stop the impact.
However Jeongin just burst into a boisterous laughter, as he swung from the bar like a money from his legs.
Felix was stunned as he sat up beneath Jeongin, legs crossed, dusting himself off. "Jesus- you can't do that! That scared me!"
Jeongin continued to laugh at him, face only inches away again.
But this time, the space between them might as well have never existed.
Because as soon as Jeongin began to move forward, Felix mimicked his movement, and met him half way.
It was quick, barely even there if you blinked, but it was a kiss. As ridiculous as it was (Jeongin was upside down for god sake, and got an eye full of Felix's chin rather than his eyes), but god, did Felix want to do it again and again and again.
But before he could kiss into Jeongin's wide and toothy smile, a child cried behind them.
"Mommy! Spiderman just kissed spiderman!"
This time when Jeongin uncoordinatedly lost balance and fell, it was right onto a equally as discombobulated Felix. Their laughter mixing into a symphony as the last of the autumn breeze swirled around them, encasing them in a protective bubble of protection and content.
