"I NEVER UNDERSTAND why this whole soulmate thing is so important to you." Your best friend, Lucinda, groaned, watching you stare down at the small clock on your wrist. For years, you had been obsessed with the thought of a soulmate, and the fact that you had gotten down to the days on the clock meant that your nerves were increasing.
"You're finding your other half with soulmates," you reminded her. With every step you took, it seemed as if the clock drastically decreased. "It's hard finding the one these days. It's easier this way, I guess."
She shrugged, not seeming that interested in the whole soulmate thing. With her, she seemed to be the type to go on dates with all kinds of people. You weren't anything like that, though. The job you had was going extremely well, your family was amazing, and you were just patiently waiting to settle down.
"Just, don't obsess over it, y/n." She reminded, crossing her arms over her chest. She kept her gaze on the sidewalk ahead of her and you started to realize that she was nearly becoming jealous. For you, you only had a few days, hours, or minutes until you had found your soulmate. As for Lucinda, her clock had stopped at one day. It had been like that for a while now, and it was bothering her, no matter how hard she was trying to hide it.
She was, truthfully, jealous of you. Lucinda thought that you would leave her in the dust when you met your soulmate. But you had no plans for it. As you got caught up in your thoughts, you hadn't paid much attention to anything, still staring down at your wrist.

Your eyes widened, completely unprepared when it came to meeting your soulmate, the one you were going to marry one day, the one that was your other half.

You didn't bother looking up from your wrist until you collided with someone's chest, automatically assuming that it was your soulmate's.
"I am so sorry," you started to ramble, hair falling in your face from the harsh, unusual, summer wind. Your eyes connected with a pair of sparkling brown eyes of a guy, curls falling into his face and a grin plastered on his lips. "I wasn't looking where I-wow, okay, my soulmate is good looking."
You had thought that your thoughts had stayed in your mind, but no, of course, you had to say the most embarrassing things in front of your soulmate. Fortunately, he didn't mind, he thought that you were equally good looking, one hundred times better than himself.
"Tom! I was wond-" a voice that belonged to a boy with light aqua green eyes echoed behind your soulmate. You politely smiled, assuming that he was one of Tom's friends. On instinct, you checked up on Lucinda, seeing that the clock that was once stopped was now nearing it's final seconds.
"Cinda," You whispered her nickname, all your attention being used to stare at the clock. Her eyebrows knitted together as she followed your gaze towards her own wrist.
"Holy shit." She replied, looking at the boy in front of her.
The guy smiled, holding his hand out for her to take, but not to shake. Like a perfect gentleman trying to impress the best friend, he pressed a kiss to the back of her hand. "I'm Harrison, and you must be my soulmate."
You smiled back up at Tom, wondering if Harrison was one of his friends. In reply he mouthed 'best friend,' trying not to ruin the moment going on between your best friends.
"This is crazy."
