Traveling for over ten hours had taken a toll on you and Tom; both of you extremely exhausted. Your plane had just gotten in, it being just about three in the morning.
You dragged yourself off the plane, not forgetting to steal a little bag of sweets that sat on an unoccupied seat. To be truthful, the sweets that the offered you were remarkable and, not to mention, free. Compared to the five dollar bag of smarties sold in the airport, it was a huge steal.
The airport still felt empty, despite the hundreds of flights that were ready to board anytime now. Only a few people were scattered around, a majority sitting at the bag return. The expressions on the strangers were unreadable, most of them wanting to go home and some looking annoyed by the cheer-filled people that happened to be smiling nonstop.
There was one person in the crowd who looked familiar, but you honestly hoped it was a stranger that happened to give you some type of deja vu. Unfortunately, you noticed that the guy/girl was someone you knew all too well.
Your throat went dry as you reached for Tom. He looked a little worried at your expression, pressing a kiss to your temple. You lightly smiled at him, forgetting about them for a second.
"Is it okay if I go get something to eat for us? I could use a little bit of energy right now," you asked Tom, desperately hoping that he didn't have to use the restroom and leave you at the baggage claim alone.
"Of course, how about I meet you there after I get the bags, yeah?" You nodded, agreeing with Tom's idea. Although, he still had no idea what was going on. He knew about your last relationship, protecting you as much as he could.
You desperately wanted to forget about it, but it haunted your mind and dreams from time to time. That's why you had nightmares when you first started dating Tom; you played them off as just simple dreams but you both knew you were lying.
Making your way to one of the empty tables, you set your backpack down, finally feeling as if you were at peace. You were wrong.
"Well if it isn't y/n/n," the too familiar voice echoed through your brain. Looking up, you were met with the e/c eyes again. You could feel the tears pricking at he back of your eyes, but you didn't want let him/her have that advantage on you.
"I don't want to talk to you. My boyfriend's going to be here any second." You explained, hoping that Tom had your bag and that he was on his way to you.
t/n grabbed your wrist a little too harshly, pulling you towards him. You held your other free arm out, giving you enough space for your body not touch his. You could feel your eyes getting glossy.
"Yeah, like they're any better than me," t/n teased, staring you in your eyes. "Like you could to any better than me."
"He/she can do better than you, that's for sure," Tom's voice cut through the tension floating in the air. You pulled your arm out of t/n's grip, taking Tom's hand. He pulled you behind him and you could feel him tense up.
"Tom let's go, please," you pleaded, not wanting Tom to get into a fight with someone that wasn't worth it. "We can go home, see Tess."
Tom nodded, taking your advice and making sure you walked in front of him. Before you both left the area, Tom turned back to t/n.
"I swear, if I see you near y/n again, you're going toー"
You tugged in Tom's hand lightly, telling him not to threaten anyone tonight. Besides, there was a slim chance you were going to see t/n again.
Once the two of you were outside and waiting for your ride home, Tom wrapped his arms around you, encasing you in a comforting bubble. "I love you with all my heart, y/n, nothing like that will happen to you as long as I'm breathing. Never again."
You cuddled closer into Tom's embrace, wanting nobody but his arms around you. "And if you're not breathing?"
"I'll deadass haunt them, like, seriously." He let out a little laugh, not letting go of you. You didn't mind, thankful that you had Tom to treat you right.i
