Three weeks, twenty-one days since Peter Parker exited your life. Twenty-one days since you've locked yourself inside your room. Your parents and friends had tried numerous times to get you out of the room, but nothing would work.
Your cheeks were still tear-stained, even when MJ and Ned would come over and attempt to cheer you up. Nothing had worked and homecoming was a couple hours away.
You were silently standing in front of the bathroom mirror, deciding whether or not you would even bother getting ready. Your vibrant y/f/c dress/suit was carefully hung up on the back of the bathroom door, along with your shoes that seemed to match accordingly. Before you could even assess your situation, a light knock on the door brought your gaze out of the abyss of thoughts.
Carefully opening the door, MJ stood there, a small abnormal smile plastered across her face.
"I know that maybe you don't wanna hear this right now, but you should totally go to homecoming with us. Sulking around all day and night isn't going to get you far. We just want to see you happy."
In all honesty, her small speech was the most sentimental thing you've heard all month. The more you processed her words, the more your mind eased at the thought of homecoming.
"Alright. Let's get this show on the road."

The double doors to the school that you attempted to avoid were sitting right in front of you. Through the glass, you could see the glimmering lights and sparkly dresses elegantly gliding across the air. Though most girls had dresses that went as far as their thighs, and boys had plain clothes on, you had tried something more elegant and vibrant with your (dress/suit.)
The music and mumbled talking were echoing through your ears, making it seem as if you were fully submerged underwater. Your eyes started to get blurry, the tears you hoped would stray from your eyes, appearing again. You assumed that Peter and Liz were already out on the dance floor, her head on his shoulder, and his hands on her waist. Tonight was the only night that you hadn't imagined yourself with him, which was both a good and bad thing.
Ned's freezing hand brought you out of your frozen-like appearance. Instead of saying a word, you slowly nodded as Ned started to lead you into the gym. Sure, you were on some homecoming committee and guessed that the decorations and setup would be average. But to say it was average was a complete understatement.
Gold and white decorations littered along the ceilings, as well as beautiful floral pieces scattered along the tables that were awaiting more teenagers to occupy them. Even though you were caught in a trance with the decorations and such, you saw Peter staring at you from afar. You never realized that Liz wasn't with him until he started walking towards you. Afraid he was going to call you out in some way, you made a beeline for the large crowd near the food. Surely he couldn't find you there.
"I know you too well, y/n," Peter spoke, spinning you around so you were now facing him. You swore, hoping he didn't hear you. "Be prepared, I'm about to make as long as a speech as you did the last time I saw you."
With a boost of confidence in your system, you spoke up before he could even breathe.
"If you have a whole speech for me, why haven't you talked to me for a month." You sighed, carefully trying to analyze his expression. "You left me without an explanation, and I, at least, deserve that."
"You're right. You deserve an explanation." Peter exhaled. "I left you because I needed to clear my mind. Mostly because I knew I liked you. I left because you actually cared about who I was with. I knew you were the one I needed to be with. I broke up with Liz two weeks ago. I was in a relationship with the wrong person. I was in love with the wrong person."
"Pet-" You started to speak, instead of Peter letting you speak for once, his fingers hooked under your chin, bringing your gaze up to his brown eyes.
You once dreamed of this moment, this always being the first and last thought of the day.
His lips were carefully pressed to yours, feelings of warmth, protection, passion, and love all washing over you.
He slowly pulled away after a few short seconds, a small smile plastered to his lips. "I am in love with you, y/n."
"And I am in love with you, Peter Parker."
「feel free to vote, comment, and share, loves. It means a lot 💓」
I am absolutely in love with how this turned out. Ahhhh! anyways, hi! How are you? How was your day? I love writing this book, it just bothers me how much I write in this compared to the actual book I have.
