Wedding তিন
(Sunday, I said. I don't even know what week it is, much less which Sunday I was even talking about. It's like...end of April...Nope, it's May now.
(((:
...It's October((((:
...It's December (((((((((:
Anyways, Recap: All the heroes have the wedding set up and are ready for the ceremony, Tony more anxious than usual and his best man still hasn't shown up...)
"Johnny! If I find one more thing on fire, you're going to Antarctica until the wedding is over!"
Peter didn't see who shouted it, but it was about time someone did. The guy had already burnt two tables to a crisp. Ten people were officially watching from their seats on the grass. Everyone was mingling around the beautifully decorated clearing until they got the signal that Pepper was ready. Wanda and Nat were still inside helping her. Peter also suspected that they were stalling to give Rhodes time to get there.
Multiple people had tried to contact him, but nothing had gotten through. This made Thor especially anxious, seeing that Rhodes was in charge of the cake. They had as of them kept the Asgardian well away from the brandy, but it was getting harder every minute that passed.
When the small fight broke out, Peter didn't know wether to be thankful for the distraction or not.
"I was sitting here. The note clearly had my name on it," an irritated voice was the first one that the wall crawler heard.
The second he recognized as the Jessica Jones. "Well it's doesn't now. Since when was your name Jessica?"
Oh, Peter did not like that tone.
"Someone obviously switched the name tags around. Why would you sit at the table with my teammates?" The teen glanced around until he spotted a suited man covered in blue fur, arguing with a much shorter female figure.
"Try meeting new people, buddy," she crossed her arms, obviously too stubborn to change her mind.
Hank rolled his eyes in exasperation and threw his hands up as he walked away. He mumbled something that Peter didn't catch, but Jessica seemed to have.
"Excuse me!" She yelled at him, face going red. "Say it a little louder, would you? What about me being a girl?"
Hank gave her a tired look. The telepaths of his team, Jean Grey and Emma Frost narrows their eyes in his direction. Peter saw Okeye look over sharply from her seat next to King T'Challa. A look of apprehension grew over Clint's face.
Thankfully, they were interrupted before it could result in a full-scale war. A loud roaring echoed over the small grove, birds shooting out from the underbrush to fly away swiftly. A shinning grey form hovered above them, blowing back table cloths, light strings, and flower crowns. Women held their dresses down and men clutched their jackets to keep them from flapping. Tony stepped up to the alter with a large grin on his face.
The groom waved down the form to an empty patch of grass to the side. The War Machine armory lowered down, power cutting off as he touched the ground. Some decorations sat sideways, much to Steve's annoyance. Tony's hair went from pristine and slicked to wind-whipped, as he was the closest to his friends landing.
In the War Machine's arm's was a box nearly tall as that man himself. Thor bounded over to release him of it, sniffing the baby pink packaging curiously. A grin split the God's face.
"Finally, the feast has arrived!" He announced, carefully carrying it back to the buffet table.
Thor set it down and pulled the box off to reveal a cake easily as tall as Peter. It was all white and frosted to perfection, with two small figures planted on the top. It was two miniature iron man suits, one red and one purple.
Peter launched himself from his chair and rushed over to Tony and War Machine along with Sam, Bucky, and Clint. The suit opened and Rhodes stepped out. He had a sharp suit on, tie perfectly symmetrical, not a nose hair out of place. His usual humble smirk could be seen across the yard. He was a stark contrast to his best friend standing in front of him. Tony all but lunged at him with a hug. Fortunately, the billionaire managed to keep his cool and straighten his tie.
"Nice of you to finally join us," he sniffed, running a hand through his desecrated hair.
Rhodes rolled his eyes and trapped him tightly in a hug. Their audience shared smiles at their brotherly encounter.
Peter and Steve appeared next to them, the sooner clapping the military man on the back once the embrace had broken.
"What held you up?" Peter asked curiously. A loud ruckus had begun behind them as something about Thor, Deadpool, Venom and the cake broke out.
Rhodes shrugged, throwing an arm over both Tony and the boy to turn them towards the party. "The line was long."
Thunder cloud began to form above them, but screeching from Hope demanded Thor get rid of them before he ruined the perfectly clear sky. After a few threats considering his future children, thanks to Gamora, the clouds dissipated and Cyclops and Colossus were laughing their butts off. Iron Fist snorted hard and water exploded out his nose, drawing a high pitched yelp from him. Luke Cage smirked at him and tossed him a spare towel. Kitty Pride chatted brightly with Groot while fixing some wind-blown decor.
Peter leaned into Rhodes contently as the man led the other two, with Steve in row, back to the seats. He felt more happy than he had felt in a long time. Everything just felt so warm and happy and...safe. Like nothing at all could ruin this beautiful day meant for a beautiful celebration.
A few minutes later, Nat ran out of the compound and told everyone to get ready. Tony took a huge breath and closed his eyes, mentally preparing himself. He smoothed his hair, fixed his tie, checked his shoes, and picked his teeth again. Rhodes out a hand on his arm and smiled softly. The two made their way to the alter. Steve was already there, along with the pastor. The heroes of the world hastily found chairs to sit.
Peter stood in front, a velvety pillow in his hands. He looked over the heroes, then at Tony, and felt his chest swell with pride.
It was about damn time this happened, anyway.
Music flowed, loud and smooth. Clint sat at the large white piano, fingers dancing across the keys with his usual grace. Wanda came out ahead, in her gorgeous red dress, a joyful smile on her flushed face. Flower petals were scattered over the pale carpet set out.
Then Pepper appeared. She was absolutely breath-taking, no one could deny. Her strawberry hair was swept up in swirling waves and braids, housing sparking pins and a veil that was already thrown back over her head. Her dress was shining and lacy, complimenting every part of her in just the right ways. The sash of the skirt pilled at the waist and swept around to create a long skirt, shimmering in the perfect spring sun. A bouquet of flowers all colors of the rainbow and the size of her head was held gently in her arms, as if it were a newborn. She wore no makeup, because she didn't need any. She was already the most stunning sight in the room. Her kind smile was all she needed.
Peter heard his mentor's sharp intake of breath and glanced over. She was, indeed, a very pretty woman, but Tony only saw his wonderful fiancée. A hand went to cover his mouth, eyes swimming with bushes tears of happiness. The boy couldn't keep the grin off of his face. Rhodes placed an encouraging hand on his friend's shoulder.
Happy walked Pepper down the isle. The audience had no words. Clint hardly could keep up his music and watch at the same time.
When she reached the alter, Tony's hands found hers and he simply gazed at her with awe on his face. She flushed, passing the flowers to Nat. The bride and groom interlaced their fingers.
The pastor began his words. Originally, Peter was pretty sure it took, like, two hours to read everything. Thankfully, Tony shortened it, because that's how he was. Pepper hadn't minded.
Still, sooner than he had expected, Peter was waved forward. Both Pepper and Tony's gazes fell onto him and he felt overwhelmed by the pure emotion in them both. It was like both were looking at their absolute world and couldn't imagine living without the other.
Peter felt the urge to bow, but fortunately refrained from that embarrassment. He instead simply held the pillow up in front of them with a large smile of congratulations.
Tony slipped the diamond onto Pepper's small finger, and she returned the favor to him with his band.
The pastor said a few more things, then closed his book and he nodded. "Now, you may kiss the bride."
Tony's hand cupped Pepper's cheek and they did indeed kiss. It was gentle and radiated their love. Pepper dipped him and Tony didn't protest. The audience cheered loud enough to scare anyone within five miles.
Pepper came up and tossed her flowers into the crowd. Shuri caught them by aggressive means. The newly wedded couple got a standing ovation and a roar from the sky with approval.
Tony ruffled Peter's hair. Nat huffed Pepper. Steve and Rhodes congratulated them.
Tony and Pepper's eyes met and their hands found each other once more.
THE END
