Wakanda: Part 4
(Recap: Peter and the Avengers arrived in Wakanda for the queen's birthday party and the boys are currently getting ready together in the men's quarters...)
"Does the suit fit, kid?" Tony glanced over, nervous eyes hidden underneath his sunglasses. He hadn't gotten exact measurements for his personal tailor, but he hoped it had been close.
"Yeah!" Peter answered enthusiastically, twisting in front of the mirror, trying to get a better view. He knew it was that most expensive he had ever worn, much less owned. "Thank you so much, Mr. Stark!"
A relieved smile flickered across his face. Clint snickered beside him, catching the look. Tony shot him a glare, but he only chuckled and turned back to his own mirror. The agent fluffed his collar and adjusted his purple tie one more time.
"Yes, I appreciate the offering Son of Stark, though the formal attire is not what we normally wear on Asgard."
Oh yeah, Thor had finally decided to join them and collect his suit from Tony.
The billionaire nodded in response, hiding his eye roll as Steve messed with his American-themed tie.
Tony had obviously thought it would be hilarious if everyone's ties matched their super suits. Thor got gold and red; Steve got red white and blue; Clint got a solid purple; Rhodey got a steel grey; Vision got a forest green and dark gold; Sam got red and grey; Scott got solid dark red; Peter's was light red with thin black stripes. Bruce got a purple bow tie to go with his light green button up and deep purple suit. Tony, of course, had his traditional black tie.
Peter thought it was great. Other Avengers - such as Steve and Rhodey - rolled their eyes. Especially since Bucky got a snowy white tie and a black button up because grey was already taken. Sam and Clint couldn't wait to see if Tony had done the same thing for the girls.
The party was huge. Peter's mouth fell open as soon as the large double doors opened and let them into the ginormous (that word is spelled so weird) room. It was similar to the city, a mix of traditional and modern decorations that managed to flow evenly. People milled around, most chatting, flirting, arguing or eating from the long buffet table. Glass and marble stairs rose gracefully from the floor to meet up at a balcony where speakers would stand to announce things. Like what the king of Wakanda was doing at the moment.
"–ank you all, once again, for joining me here today to celebrate this special occasion. Please, continue with the party and enjoy the refreshments."
People clapped and cheered as T'Challa wrapped up his opening speech. Wine glasses were clinked together and servers handed more out. Light music resumed and laughter rang through the hall. The male Avengers were, for now, unnoticed. Until Tony decided to loudly announce his presence to the room of people of all kinds.
Sam and Bucky rolled their eyes at Tony in the same moment, then glared at each other. Rhodey tried to hide his grin, but Scott didn't. Peter choked back a laugh as Tony went up to some random unimpressed looking person and started chatting.
Before the rest of the guys could split off, the doors behind them opened, revealing Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, The Wasp and Pepper Potts. Clint smirked at the colors and whistled loudly. Sam punched him in the arm while Steve frowned at him, showing off his Eyebrows of Disappointment.
Natasha went up and flicked him in the head. The assassin grinned teasingly at his partner. She wore a simple black dress that hugged her thighs, but still gave her free movement to swipe someone off their feet at a moments notice. Only Clint's sharp eyes caught the hidden dagger strapped to her leg, but he only chuckled. The red heels may or may not have matched her hair color and thin belt. She looked pretty in a deadly kind of way, fitting right in with the king's guards.
Hope strutted in after her, yellow and black knee length dress similar to the colors of her suit. Scott's ears went pink and a smile split his face when he saw her in an actual dress. Of course she looked beautiful, her hair up in a styled and wrapped braid.
"Wow," he breathed. "You look–wow."
"Smooth," Sam murmured out of the corner of his mouth.
Vision went to meet Wanda as the beaming girl practically floated into the hall. Her long crimson dress hid her feet and trailed along the ground, a silvery necklace topping it off. She squealed in excitement, thanking Tony a million times. She had never worn such a pretty dress before.
"Mhm," Tony would answer distractedly. His fiancée had finally come in.
Pepper raised an eyebrow as he studied the royal blue dress and the jewelry covering it before deciding that the silk had been a perfect choice. He wrapped an arm around her waist and kissed her forehead.
"You look beautiful," he commented. "As always."
(Sorry there's not much about Peter, but from now on I promise there will be more.)
Pepper rolled her eyes to cover up her flushed cheeks. Peter chuckled at the interaction. He opened his mouth to comment on it as well – she really did look stunning – but was interrupted by a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see no one there.
What the– he spun all the way around, tripping on his own feet. He had to catch himself on the buffet table, nearly pulling down the tablecloth, which would have been really bad. Someone giggled behind him.
"Damn," the feminine voice whinnied. "That would have been hilarious."
Peter's mouth fell open. Uh, no–no it would not have been. He turned to see a girl with long hair wrapped in a bun on her head and a long dress that was free moving. She taped her leg, fingerless gloves somehow working with the outfit. Her skin was a dark chocolate color, matching her hair.
"Uh, who are you?" What was a girl his age doing here?
She lowered her voice with a grin. "I am your father."
Peter chocked back a laugh, spilling a few drops of his drink. Well, it was official. She was more cultured in a American culture then Captain America.
He stuck out a hand. "Peter."
"Shuri," she returned the gesture jokingly, as if formalities were nothing to be taken seriously.
His eyes widened as the name clicked. "Princess Shuri of Wakanda?"
She snorted and took a sip of her drink. "Yes, bow before me, peasant."
"Uh..." Wait, was she serious? He didn't think so, but still, isn't it against the law or something to disobey a princess?
Shuri noticed how unsure he was looking and tried to lighten the mood. "Don't worry I'm joking. You're just the only other person here that doesn't look like a boring stiff."
"Thanks," he said sarcastically. He was liking her more already.
"Anyways, my brother told me about you this morning," she said casually. Holy crap, he remembered me? "You like science right?"
The question caught him off guard. "Yeah, actually, like, a lot."
A grin broke out on her face. Finally, someone smart my age, she thought happily. "Do you wanna see something cool?"
"Yes," he agreed immediately upon seeing her mischievous expression.
————————-
Ten minutes later, Tony noticed the absence of a teenage puppy following him around.
"Hey, where'd the kid go?" He asked Steve, who was most likely keeping track of everyone.
"Huh?" Obviously not at the moment, though, as he looked up from his food. The whole team sat at a table, chatting, but most of them stopped upon hearing the exchange.
"I saw him talking to a girl earlier," Scott mentioned and quirked his eyebrows.
Sam snorted. "Yeah, right."
"No, really, I saw her too," Bruce backing him up. "They left together."
"Kinky," Clint chewed on a chicken leg and grinned.
"Um, how about no," Wanda said and made a disgusted sound as Nat elbowed Clint in annoyance.
Tony narrowed his eyes. "We're all talking about the same kid, right? He can barley talk to girls, much less make out with one."
"Can we talk about something else?" Hope rolled her eyes.
"He hadn't even had his first kiss yet," Bucky pointed out.
Rhodey furrowed his brows. "He's sixteen."
"Yet," Tony sighed in mock disappointment. "Here we are."
"Boys," Pepper snapped. They startled at her sharp tone and looked over to find him glaring. She gave them that really? look for a few more seconds before turning to Steve, who was obviously the only mature one here.
"In a few minutes could you go find him?"
"Mhm," the super soldier nodded, mouth full of mashed potatoes.
————————
"Whoa," Peter breathed in astonishment. "This place is awesome!"
To anyone else the large lab would have seemed like a cluttered mess, but to Peter? It was a museum of art that you could mess with. Random parts lied everywhere, some half built, some fully automatic machines. The technology was insanely futuristic. Computers screens and tablets were in random times places on the tables where people seemed to have just dropped them, projects ready to come back to later.
Shuri giggles at the boy's excitement and lead the way through the maze to her private lab area that the other scientists knew not to mess with. It included a flat screen TV, a hyped up Xbox, bing bags and state-of-the-art technology that made Peter's eyes jump out of their sockets.
"Holy-," his mouth fell open. "Whoa."
"Yep," Shuri summed up, pride evident in her voice. "The ultimate nerd-cave."
Peter just had one very important fact to get cleared up. If she answered correctly, they would surely become best friends. "So...you've seen all the original Star Wars movies, right?"
"Of course," she snorted. "I had an obsessive phase that exclusively featured those movies. I even tried to duplicate some of the tech. I made a copy of Han's gun. It shoots and everything!"
Peter's eyes lit up. "Awesome. Do you still have it?"
"Yup," she went to her desk and pulled it out of a drawer, grinning. She aimed it at a piece of metal a few yards away and pulled the trigger. It even made the pew sound! Peter gasped and faked tears.
"That was so beautiful," he wiped his mock tears away.
Shuri grinned. "Do you wanna help me make some lightsabers?"
"Do you even have to ask?" Peter and Shuri rushed over to a table like kids and began to collect equipment.
It took them less then twenty minutes.
"It won't be able to stay on long because the power will have to reset in order to get enough energy from here," the princess pointed at a wire that connected the vibranium power source to the converter.
"Yeah, but if we split it in two like this-," Peter replaced the wire with s three pointed one. "-then the circuit will be bigger and it will stay on for as long as we want."
"Hm, true, let's do it," she said and did the same to her own. "I'm glad your smart."
"Thanks," he closed the grip of the light sword and screwed it into place. "I'm glad you aren't full of yourself."
She snorted but let the comment pass. I guess that would be your stereotypical princess, she mused.
"Hey," Peter brought her back to the present. "You don't happen to have any Jedi cloaks from your phase, do you?"
She laughed. "I do, in fact."

"I'm going to go check on Peter," Steve announced. Scott chuckled and gave him a "good luck" before he got up and left. He wandered around aimlessly for fifteen minutes, asking people about two teenagers walking around, and got nada. He stood awkwardly in the hall, trying to figure out how to find them. It was fairly silent. So let just say he was mildly surprised when two cloaked figures with colorful swords of light leaped out in front of him. They were obviously mid-battle.
One flipped over the other and did some spectacular moves with their lightsaber while the other one stabbed at them with their weapon. Steve stared open mouthed as the jumpy one ran half way up the wall and flipped over. Then they both stood in front of each other and turned off their lightsabers dramatically. The two bowed in ceremony. Neither of them had noticed the super soldier in the suit yet.
What shocked him even more was when they both bursted out laughing and threw their hoods back to reveal two young faces.
"Peter?" Steve asked in disbelief.
The boy flinched, but his grin remained. You failed me, spidey sense. "Hey Cap."
Shuri shrugged and they turned back to each other. "That was so cool! How did you do those flips and stuff?"
"You wanna year a secret?" Peter whispered.
Shuri nodded excitedly. She loved secrets.
It was okay to tell her since she was Black Panthers sister, right? Oh well. "I'm Spiderman."
"What? No way," her mouth fell open. "The vigilante from New York? Dude, that's awesome!"
Peter grinned and pulled back the sleeves of his button up dress shirt, suit jacket long forgotten. Underneath were his webshooters. He quickly caught her lightsaber grip and pulled it back to himself with a thwip.
"Peter!" Steve looked at him in shock. He thought the kid wanted his identity to remain secret. This was definitely not being secretive.
"What?" He asked defensively. "She's BP's sister, she's trustworthy."
Steve looked up incredulously at the ceiling. This kid is so confusing. He glanced down again, realization hitting him. And now there's two of them.
"Okay," he calmed down the hyperactive teens. "But good luck explaining your disappearing with a girl to the team."
The teens shared a look.
"Oh, sh-"
