Halloween 3
(At this point, I'm just putting memes here, guys^^
Recap: The Goblin escaped and the Avengers went to pick Peter up at school on Halloween...that's pretty much it, carry on webheads!..whoa I haven't called you guys that in a long time...heh...it's dorky that's why - okay just read!)
"You can't just keep me locked up!" Peter argued in disbelief.
May pulled him back from Tony Stark's face. None wanted a pissy teenager in their face even if they were close. Her nephew attempted to shake her off, but she held him firmly, as she had since his childhood, spider-strength or no.
"Peter," she tried to reason. "Maybe they're right. You know I usually don't agree with Tony Stark, but...maybe you should let the Avengers handle this."
He glanced back at her with a crumpled expression that made her cringe a little inside with immediate regret. But she wasn't about to let him know that. "You're on board with this?" He complained.
May clenched her teeth and nodded slowly. Hope Pym stepped forward to back her up. The Wasp placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and gestured around the room. "We just want to protect you Peter. We all do."
He held her eyes for a minute before dropping his gaze. No one could win a staring contest against her. "But it's Halloween," he mumbled to himself sighed sadly.
Hope acted like she didn't hear and stepped back to join her fully suited up team. Natasha cinched up Clint's quiver quickly as Bruce adjusted a last detail on Sam's new wings. They had kind of gotten wrecked last battle, which involved an angry blue alien titan, a glowy staff and an annoying time travel week that ended with Clint turned Robin Hood, Nat a rare emotional mess, Tony in tights. Peter was still attempting to scrub the disturbing image from his brain.
"We'll be back before you know it, kid," Tony promised sympathetically.
Peter watched as the Avengers pushed the doors open to the open New York air balcony and the quin jet flew in to them remotely. May wrapped an arm around her nephew as he did so, eyes not flinching until the plane was up in the air and glowing his fluffy hair around his face. They stayed like that even after it had dissipated behind the horizon towards the next state prison that Norman Osborn had been held in.
Now all he could do was wait. Damn it, he hated the waiting game. His aunt ran a hand through his hair and led him back inside, offering to start a movie. Peter shrugged and smiled. At least he would get quality time with her. They hardly did anything together anymore with his stressful top classes, Spider-Man and the time he was at the Tower or Compound.
May turned on some Halloween show called Hocus Pocus, but his heart wasn't really in it. She made a few jokes trying to get him to cheer up. He only smiled at her before leaning back on the couch arm and staring out the window. An hour and a half later, the movie ended and he hadn't moved much except to snack on the occasional piece of popcorn that FRIDAY had helped his aunt heat up. He could feel her gaze on him half the time, but never turned to confront her.
Eventually she just sighed and tossed the remote on the couch, telling Peter to find something fun to watch while she scavenged Tony's kitchen for something to cook for dinner. He nodded dimly and started to scroll through shows on cable. It was nearly six o'clock. He and MJ and Ned had plans to go to a popular haunted house. He had been wondering if his spidey sense would go off, since he wouldn't technically be in danger. Truth be told, it did go off at annoying things. One time he had tried to step over a puddle and it warned him. Another an acorn had fallen from a tree a few feet away and it had screamed at him. Sometimes he had to force himself to ignore it. Huh. Maybe it just wen off at every potential threat...so would the costumed workers be potential threats too?
He was pulled from his thoughts abruptly as a News channel caught his eye, or more accurately, his ear.
"-was spotted a few minutes ago in Queens, demolishing an apartment. Thankfully, it had been evacuated for unknown reasons earlier in the day, so other than a few minor injuries, no one was hurt. Authorities still do not know what - or who - the Goblin is looking for, but with the Avengers out of town, reported leaving by various sources, who knows if Norman Osborn's famous foe Spider-Man is even in New York? Police have assured the public that they will find a way to bring down the dangerous villain without the help of the city's usual heroes-"
He was stripping off his shirt to reveal his suit underneath and opening the window before his aunt was even back from the kitchen. He glanced back apologetically before launching out of the Tower. Without a plan or a second thought. Welp, here goes nothing. One last fight with the Goblin, and this time...he was going to win.
So the plan was a work in progress? He wasn't even sure where the Goblin was. Well, he guessed he would just have to wait for the green mutated scientist to find him. It couldn't be that hard. All he had to find was a news truck and bingo. Ribbon wrapped Osborn would come to kill him. He winced at the lack of empty space - well, anywhere. He didn't want to get anyone hurt, especially since there were so many kids out already trick or treating. The sun was just about down, the nightlife of New York already taking up it's shift. Then he spotted the perfect place. Plenty of news crews on the sides, though the traffic had been blocked for an early Halloween parade. The authorities were working on unblocking it now, but if he could lure the Goblin there in time...
So half a plan?

May Parker stepped back into the living room with a tray of cookies in her hands. She thought she would surprise Peter, seeing as he always cheered up around cookies. The only problem - there was no Peter to give them to. She frowned and poked her head around the corner to the hallway leading towards their sleeping coradors. The light in his room was off. Maybe he had gone to bed?
"Um, okay," she mumbled to herself and looked up skeptically. "FRIDAY?"
"Yes, Mrs. Parker?"
May flinched a little at the immediate response. "Oh, you can hear me then."
"Yes. I can hear and see everything going on in the Tower when Boss enables it."
That wasn't creepy at all. May shook her head. "Okay then, did you see where Peter went?"
He gaze trailed to the TV as she asked it. He had left it on a particular channel, CNN news. They were talking about some politics or another when suddenly it flipped to a BREAKING NEWS screen, highlighted in red. A helicopter surveyed a collapsed building from above. It had fallen in on itself completely, the reporter talking about how it had been home to a dozen people.
The cookies dropped from her numb hands as she recognized the street.
"He left out the window about fifteen minutes ago, Mrs. Parker."
Her head snapped around and she sprinted for the open window. Wind whipped around her head, throwing hair in her face and ripping her glasses from their perch on her nose. She didn't notice as she watched the night life of the Big Apple. Her eyes clouded in fear. Peter Benjamin Parker, you are so grounded when you get back. She looked back up at FRIDAY's speakers frantically.
"Call Tony Stark!"
