Cold: Part 4
(Recap Time: Peter is sick, Scott, Hope, Steve, Bruce, Sam and Pete are the only ones left standing without their equipment in the compound without electricity. Peter just got thrown out a window and Doctor Octopus is having a great time beating up heroes...that about sums it up. Good reading, web-heads😉)
Falling out a window was not an experience Peter wound recommend. Though, technically he didn't do it by choice. It wasn't everything seemed to slow down crap like in movies. It was like any other time he had jumped off a building except for tone very important fact: he didn't had his web shooters. And there wasn't going to be an Iron Man to catch him this time. In fact he could hear Tony screaming his name right then. Peter had fully convinced himself he was going to die a meaningless death.
That is until the giant green war machine
burst through the wall.
The next thing Peter knew he was in the Hulk's hand, arms wrapped around the green guy's giant bicep in an attempt to stay on the rough ride. Cold air stung his face and froze the tears left over on his cheeks. He was suddenly glad for his decathlon sweat shirt as quiet white flakes kissed his exposed skin.
The Hulk came to a stop and set Peter down surprisingly gently in the cool, white fluff covering the yard. Peter promptly fell on his butt and his sweat pants were soon soaked. He shivered.
"Spider okay?" The Hulk asked gruffly, looming over Peter.
"Yes!" The teen answered, teeth chattering. "Thank you big guy!"
Whenever they went on a mission or the Hulk just helped him out in general, Peter always made sure to thank him. He was just as much a hero as any of them, but no one ever saw him like that. They only saw an uncontrollable monster. Hulk didn't trust many people, but Peter was one of the lucky few. So as the Hulk's friend he always tried to make him feel appreciated.
The green land mass grinned at him before turning and launching himself back into the compound where Doc Oc had been watching in disappointment. When he saw the Hulk turn back towards him, he knew it was time to make his escape. I'll get you next time Spiderman, he swore to himself. Fortunately, he didn't make it to the front door.
Tony stood, arms out, in the process of getting his armor on. It only took a few seconds, but he was royalty pissed. This insane squid had tried to kill his son. That was not going to pass on his watch. He may not have gotten the system running fast enough to save Pete, but the Hulk took care of that nicely, so now all that was left to do was take the trash out.
Iron Man launched himself at the Octopus without warning. Octavius tried in vain to block the armored hero, but Tony blasted his tentacles apart easily. He drove the doctor back into a wall, tying his last two arms in a knot and pointed his repulsed at the villain's face. Ready to take the shot. And he would have too, if not for...
"Tony," Steve's comes crackled to life finally and he changed to the Avenger's channel. "Peter's unconscious where Banner left him. If he's out there exposed for much longer he's probably going to get hypothermia."
"Shit," Tony swore, indecision weighing down on him. Let the man who did this to Peter get away or go get his son. In the end, it wasn't hard.
"Steve, Octavius is near the entrance to Bruce's lab. Don't let him get away!" With that, Iron Man blasted through a window and searched around the compound until he noticed a bright blue spot among the white. Peter was laying on his back, white confetti sprinkled in his hair and nose bright red. His eyes were closed and the kid wasn't moving.
Tony dropped beside him and picked him up bridal style, turning on his armor heating in an attempt to warm the boy up.
"Someone prepare the med bay!" Damnit Banner wasn't going to be there to do it. Ten bucks says the Hulk went to his 'special place' to calm down.
Hope Pym answered his panicked call. "Already on it, Stark."
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon! Tony boosted his thrusters to the max and landed inside the completely trashed living room. Steve offered to take the limp boy, but Tony wasn't about to hand him off to someone else. Still in his armor, he ran down to the Avengers improvised hospital and set Peter down on the soft sheets.
Hope didn't know much about medical things, but she knew enough to get by. Thankfully, Peter's excellerated healing, the cuts from the claw were already working on mending, but they were deep, so it wouldn't be a fast process. She had no clue how to handle the sickness, but it seemed to be getting better, which was expected. With Peter's immune system, it would have been surprising if it had lasted longer than a day.
All she could do was wrap him up and hope for the best. She liked kids and Peter had really grown on her.
He stayed unconscious for a two full days. Tony never left his side. Steve tried to coax him into getting up, but he stubbornly sat there, holding Peter's hand and giving himself dark bags. At some point the rest of the team - Bucky, Thor, Nat, Clint and Rhodes - got back. They were all horrified at what had happened to Peter. Wanda and Vision felt guilty for being so useless the night before. The Avengers all noticed the strange silence of the hallways. Clint and Bucky were beating themselves up for not getting back sooner. Nat was fussing over Peter's health. Rhodes brought Tony lunch and dinner. Without meaning too, the entire team congregated into Peter's room.
There wasn't enough seats for all of them, so Steve and Bucky elected to sit on the floor. Tony and Nat sat on either side of Peter, gripping his hands. Wanda turned on the TV in the room and most of them watched some random transformers movie. Thor commented on all the technical things they got wrong about space travel and life, but most were asleep by the end of the movie, including Tony, whose head rested on the mattress next to Peter. Natasha was the last to fall asleep, taking the remote from Wanda's limp hand to switch the TV off. She was still in the middle of running a hand through Peter's curly hair when her eyes drooped and closed.

When Peter woke up, his eyelids refused to open. Everything just felt so heavy, like he had a weight bearing down on him. Eventually he forced them up so that he could figure out where he was. The last thing he remembered was something about the Hulk...
His eyes focused and he was surprised to see Earth's Mightiest Heroes laying around in awkward positions, all fast asleep in the med bay. Bruce wasn't there, which was a bit worrisome, but Peter didn't let it get to him. The Hulk knew how to take care of himself and find his way back here. It had happened before.
"FRIDAY," he looked up that the security camera and whispered, "Can you take a picture of this please?"
"Sure, Peter," the AI responded.
Peter grinned up at the camera and heard a few quiet clicks. "Now send them to me."
"Okay."
He turned his head to see Nat's hand beside his head and Tony using the mattress as a pillow from his chair. Peter chuckled at the scene and shifted himself into sitting position, only a little pain present. Something was different though like...
...When did the rest of the team get back? Had he really been out that long?
Then Wanda jerked awake, a bit of sweat on her brow, like Peter did when he had a nightmare. Her breathing was hitched, but the panic originally in her eyes subsided. He furrowed his brows worriedly.
"Are you okay?" It took him a second to process that he had said it out loud.
She startled in surprise, hearing his voice. The witch in turned bumped into Vision, who elbowed Clint in the face, who kicked Bucky in the arm who head-butted Steve who...well you get the point. Soon there was a big mess of confused, arguing Avengers. Peter watched it all, amused. Wanda was still the only one who knew he was awake, but had seemed to forgotten the fact as she apologized to Vision over and over again.
It wasn't long until someone kicked Tony's chair hard enough for it to jump and he woke up groggily. It took him a second to focus on the picture in front of him. The first thing he did was lock eyes with a grinning Peter.
"Kid!" He pulled the boy into him and gripped him tightly.
The team froze and looked over.
"Is this hug?" Peter asked teasingly. "Or are you just stretching again?"
That broke the spell and suddenly Peter was in the middle of a huge cuddle puddle. Even Sam and Vision had joined in. Some of them were crying, including Peter. The teenager even thought he caught Mr. Stark with wet eyes.
"Boss," FRIDAY said to get Tony's attention.
"Yeah, FRI?" The billionaire rubbed his eyes in an attempt to get the...ahem...sleep out of them.
"Dr. Banner is on the front porch. He told me to inform you that he was not happy and for someone to make him food."
Tony sighed through his nose. "Well, let him in."
"Ooh, can we have chocolate chip pancakes?" Peter asked, nearly bouncing up and down in excitement.
"I'll make them," Nat assured him before Tony said anything stupid because they all knew the billionaire couldn't cook.
The whole team cheered and laughed because, deep down, they were all five year olds.
