WITHOUT ME !
IMAGINE !
o. YOU WONDER IF IT EVER
GETS LONELY FOR TOM . . .
━━ 🕸️ ━━
Listening was a gift, and you felt as if you should have used it adequately. Believing the words of someone you now barely knew instead of someone who had been in your life for years was an unmistakable penalty on your part.
You fell in love with someone who didn't reciprocate the strong emotion.
Loving Tom was simply your greatest sin. Furthermore, It was your lowest choice to isolate yourself away from the people you called your second family—but it's what helped cut the thin thread that had you connected to him.
The night you strayed away, if felt as if meeting someone who seemed identical to Tom was making up for what you lost.
You wanted to stop time and figure out what you were doing; if your emotions were simply driven by the strong drinks you had, or if it was what you had been keeping in your mind. By the time you figured out your feelings and realized that the influence was taking a heavy toll, Tom had already got lured in by someone who was too good at playing mind games.
Putting yourself in another man's arms, you once believed that you had belonged there; like being with Tom just wasn't meant to be.. neither romantically nor platonically.
The ignorance in both you and Tom had struck again—and for what felt like the thousandth time. However, realization had brought you back to where you were now.
Standing in the rain on a familiar concrete staircase was the scariest thought that kept you up at night. Never would you have believed that you would be there again, but you had to, especially after the immense feelings that you were being put through.
Your knuckles lightly came in contact with the elegant-looking wooden door, hoping that you would have a second to maybe turn away and get back into your car. However, the squeaking of the door's hinges stole your thoughts away again.
Tom stood in the doorway, eyebrows raised in curiosity, worry, and relief wrapped into one. He hadn't seen you in what felt like forever, and to be completely honest, he was on the verge of breaking down with just the thought of you being out of his life forever.
Talking on the phone was completely different, and seeing you standing in front of him brought comfort to him and his mind—but it was erased the moment he noticed that those were not simple raindrops rolling down your cheeks.
❝Does it ever get lonely?❞ You questioned, pain evident in your voice. Maybe he had forgotten the semi-harsh words you had blurted out that night. Shaking your head upon realizing that you had confused him even more, you rephrased. ❝Does it ever get lonely... In a relationship? Am I supposed to feel alone?❞
He looked over his shoulder, noticing that his family was still carrying on with their dinner in the dining room without him. Tom took the small chance he had and stepped outside, not caring that he just accidentally locked himself out, or that the storm was right over his own home.
Tom delicately placed his cold hands on the sides of your face, almost as if you were made of glass and that you would break at any moment.❝Darling, is everything alright?❞
Upon hearing the soft nickname roll off of his lips like honey, you took a step back. However, he followed, hands moving to capture yours.
❝You have to talk to me if you need help, love.❞
Clearing your throat, you mustered up all the courage you could get. ❝You should save the sappy nicknames for your girlfriend. I shouldn't have came here. I-I'm just going to go.❞
Tom couldn't get a syllable through his lips before you made a sprint to your car, shuffling through your pockets as you tried to find your set of keys before he could catch up with you. Before you even arrived, you knew that you would screw something up, but you still decided to see him again.
Upon finally grabbing your keys, you fumbled with the buttons, but of course, you dropped them. They landed with a small and tiny thud, carefully staring up at you from their place from the gravel.
Before you could grab the glistening, silver keys from the ground, Tom's hands captured them. The keychains dangled from his limber fingers, filling you with dread as you realized you would have to explain yourself.
