SAD NEIGHBORS !
IMAGINE !
o. YOU AND TOM CAN BE SAD
NEIGHBORS TOGETHER . . .
━━ 🕸️ ━━
Music came from the speakers, circling you in a symphony of beats and complex words. Your phone was plugged into the radio, allowing you to play whatever song you deemed necessary. The windows were rolled down to the slightest bit, allowing the wind to sneak through the crack and touch your soft skin. You bypassed the familiar neighborhood, smiling as you saw some kids playing outside every few blocks or so. Waving to the people you knew, you approached your home; which happened to be a little townhouse.
You'd been living there for quite a bit already, but you still had yet to introduce yourself to your neighbor, Tom. He would often deliver your mail that had gotten swapped with his, and you exchanged hellos and goodbyes, but that was it. Your mood dropped a little when the next song popped up on your stereo.
Pulling into your driveway, you sat there for a minute, listening to the lyrics as intently as you could.
'I'm only a fool for you, and maybe you're too good for me,'
Maybe keeping the stray song in your playlist full of upbeat and vibrant songs wasn't your brightest idea. Thankfully, the song faded out as your phone buzzed. Picking it up, the screen was lit up with a message.
Tom (neighbor)
turn it down please you're making me sad lmao ☹️
y/n
aha okay, will do :)
You stopped the song before your mood got to an all-time low, your Spotify radio immediately going to the upbeat songs you loved the most. You sat back into the driver's seat, sifting through the pieces of mail you had picked up on the way up to your garage. A majority of them were all Tom's; meaning that your mail had gotten switched up - again.
"You have a nice taste in music, y/n." A voice said over the music. Looking over to your left, you saw that Tom was standing behind your window. Your heart jumped, considering that you had somewhat taken a liking to him over the past few months. "Sorry, guess I kind of scared you."
You waved your hand, telling him that it was okay. Pulling your keys out of the ignition, you placed your hand on the door handle, not getting chance to open it before Tom did for you. Thanking him, you got out of the car.
"So, I was thinking, we don't really know each other that much but we have each other's house keys," Tom started. He slowly walked with you towards your door, fidgeting with his hands a little. A laugh slipped out of his lips, thinking about how funny it was that you were practically strangers. "Maybe we could get to know each other better? Say, over dinner?"
You stopped in your tracks, turning towards Tom, who happened to have a smile on his face. "Are you asking me on a date, Tom?" You asked. A blush quickly rose to your cheeks, as it did his. He shrugged, a smile on his face.
"Maybe." You smiled back. Him taking that as you gladly accepting his offer. Opening your front door, you placed a quick kiss on his cheek, giving him his mail too. His face turned an even darker shade of pink. "I'll see you at seven tonight then?" He asked.
"Definitely."
