IN THE STARS !

IMAGINE !
o. PETER WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO SEE YOU IN THE STARS  . . . LOL THIS ONE SUCKS . . .

━━ 🕸️ ━━

Peter Parker lay in the tan grainy sand, chest rising at a bothered pace. Hues of red and yellow light were the only colors that were available to his brown eyes. However, the tears that had begun to pool made everything a complete blur--both physically and emotionally.

His lips parted, taking a deep inhale of oxygen, the chemicals from the fire being the least of his worries. Limbs weak and wobbly, Peter raised himself up with the stabilization from a nearby crate.

The sleeve of his suit raised up, revealing the delicate words placed on his arm. He truly believed that Liz was his soulmate, yet, he had no idea when he would find out if she really was.  You'll find me in the stars.

It was a horrible curse in his opinion. The whole soulmate thing was a ticking time bomb. Sure, Peter believed in true love; but the fact that you only exchanged last words with each other was the worst thing he could think of.

Only minutes ago was he physically fighting his girlfriend's father, using all his strength to keep the important pieces of technology away from the wrong hands. Having his homemade suit on his body was quite the struggle, and he had come to the conclusion that it was a bad decision on his part to tell you about his plan.

As soon as you heard the words Spider-Man and Vulture mixed together in the school's hallway, you immediately rushed to try and catch up to your best friend while still in your homecoming attire. Ned attempted to try and tag along, but you convinced him to stay back and keep an eye on the tracker that you had discreetly placed in Peter's suit. It wasn't a complete lie, but you didn't want to see your friends potentially get hurt in the complicated situation.

Although you had managed to stop the man in the bird suit, his one final attempt at grabbing the technology caused the beach to become engulfed in warm flames. Peter had used all his power to try and protect the two of you, despite the man being an antagonist. Now, he had no idea where you were.

Peter carefully crawled on top of the crate, calling out your name and searching for any sign of you being near him. The tears that he had refrained from spilling were now freely flowing down his cheeks, sobs slipping out of his lips when five minutes had passed without seeing you. He was about to step back down onto the warm ground with sorrow when he heard a cough.

His eyes scanned over the entirety of the beach until they locked on you. There you were, laying in the sand as your body was curled up into a ball.

Almost as soon as he spotted you, he jumped off, trying to get to you as fast as he possibly could. Yet, the injuries he had sustained were holding him back in the slightest bit. Peter stumbled around a few times before landing at your side with his knees in the sand.

❝Y/n, are you okay?❞ His hand tightly held onto yours. ❝please tell me you're okay.❞

Your eyebrows furrowed. One shake of your head was enough to send Peter into panic mode. His eyes scanned over you, noticing the large quantity of injuries you earned; definitely more than him. Despite your injuries being somewhat serious, the place he was focusing was in your eyes. The sparkle was gone.

He looked at you, worry invading every ounce of color that was in his eyes. Peter was in between a rock and a hard place.

He left his phone inside the villain's car, so he had no way of calling Happy or Tony for help. He could try and carry you to someplace safe, but you were far too injured for him to do that. Once he considered any and all potential situations, Peter made the heartbreaking decision to wait for someone to find you both. He knew someone had to—considering that the beach was engulfed in flames.

❝Why do I feel like this is the embodiment of a hot cheeto?❞

Peter laughed, adoring that you still had your sense of humor despite cuts and bruises littering your body. A few seconds of serenity passed before his smile faded, noticing how your skin was turning pale, eyes loosing their color in the slightest bit.

He immediately tightened his grip on your hand, afraid that he was beginning to loose you. However, you could feel it. Your energy was slowly fading away.

❝Before you interrogate me, yeah. Ned told me you call my eyes stars. Little weird but I'll go with it,❞ you spoke with whatever was left of your voice. ❝anyways, I know it sounds awfully cheesy, but you'll find me in the stars, Peter. I promise you. ❞

His heart stopped. Just simply hearing those words brought his entire world crashing down. Peter now hated the concept of how you met soulmates. He finally understood, and he wished that it wouldn't have to be like that.

❝y/n it's alright. They're gonna be here soon, and they're gonna fix you up, okay?❞ he whimpered, placing both of his hands on the side of your face. The tears were starting up again, dropping onto your soft and smoke-ridden skin. His heart was entirely broken, and the fact that he couldn't do anything about it made the feeling worse than it already was.

❝I'm sorry.❞ your lips barely curled up with whatever power you had left in you, allowing Peter to see your sweet smile one last time.

He watched as your eyes started to close. Your grip on his hand got weaker.

・・・

The feeling was too overwhelming for Peter to handle. Another batch of salty and sentimental tears rolled down his cheeks as his shoulders shook with utter sorrow.

The teenager sat at the top of his apartment complex, wondering if he could have prevented everything that happened. Maybe if he hadn't told you his plan, he would still have you next to him.

Peter would never forget you. He would forever regret being blind to your feelings for as long as he did. He was entirely caught up with trying to find a soulmate that he had completely forgot to look right in front of him.

May emerged from the staircase with a broken heart as she watched her nephew mourn over the loss of his best friend.. his soulmate.

She strolled over to him, comforting him as best as she could.

❝I miss y/n too. I'm so sorry, Peter.❞ she whispered, earning another small sob from him.

His brown eyes gazed up at the dark sky. The swarm of painted stars brought life back into the expressionless place called space. Peter sniffled, reminded of the prominent stars that once glistened in your eyes. The stars that he still loved with his entire heart.
