EIGHTEENTH LOCKET !
IMAGINE !
o. YOU FIND YOUR SOULMATE WHEN YOU TURN EIGHTEEN . . .
━━ 🕸️ ━━
The loud crashing noise of a tray colliding with the lunch table was more than enough to draw you out of your statue-like trance on the busy streets of Queens. When your eyes moved from the windows to the person who was standing in front of you, a smile spread on your face.
❝Hey Liz.❞ You watched as she carefully set her backpack down, taking a seat across from you. Betty wasn't too far behind, sitting down directly next to you.
Silence leisurely strolled through your table, the only things that were being exchanged was your gazes. Your fingertips drummed on the tabletop, unaccustomed to the feeling of not talking. It was highly unusual for Betty or Liz to be quiet, and you had your suspicions.
Only a few seconds passed before the two started snickering, your confusion apparently being amusing to the pair. However, you got the point when Liz pulled out a small gift bag out from under the table. She smiled as she slid it across and right in front of you. Betty gave you a little nudge when you didn't move a muscle.
❝You're finally eighteen, y/n!❞ She exclaimed. Liz quickly nodded, motioning towards your arm.
❝And that means you're one step closer to meeting your soulmate.❞ Liz explained. Your gaze moved down to the dark blotch that was starting to form on your arm.
To you, it was odd how you knew how you would meet your soulmate by the indication of a simple touch. For you, it was on your knuckles. You had gone through scenarios multiple times, and the only way you figured things would happen was if you either punched them or an accidental touch.
However, any way that you met your soulmate would finally alleviate your nerves away. For the past few years, all your mind had been set on was worrying about who you'd be destined to fall in love with, and now it was simply a waiting game.
❝I know, it's insane!❞ you smiled. Trying to divert your attention from the nerves again, your fingers scaled over the sparkly tissue paper that was lining the top of the gift bag. Before you could see the contents inside, you looked to both Betty and Liz. ❝Thank you. You guys really didn't have to get me anything.❞
Liz waved her hand as if she was swatting away your statement. Your smile was tugging at your lips, carefully removing the paper and peering inside of the gift bag to see a small gift box.

Your fingertips scaled over the silver chain wrapped around your neck, feeling the intricate details on the locket. It must have been a half-hour of thank you's sipping into every sentence when you saw Liz and Betty out in the hallways or in your classes.
They had saved up quite a bit of money to buy you a personalized locket, knowing that you'd want to keep something sentimental for your soulmate. It meant the entire world to you, knowing how amazing your friends were.
The locket itself was advanced, newly introduced when soulmates were discovered. Someway, somehow, it knew when you met your true love, and automatically engraved your initials into the locket. Utter magician-type antics.
The digital clock embedded in the wall read twenty minutes until you finally got to go home, but then again, it meant another day without meeting your soulmate. Although, you had no clue if they even went to your school. Anything was possible.
Your chin was resting in your hand, staring at the rather uninteresting science video playing on the screen. A small yawn left your lips, earning a laugh from the lab table next to yours. Turning towards the person, you noticed that it was none other than the infamous Peter Parker.
There was something about him that you adored, but you hardly ever talked to him. It was a weird feeling; to like someone you hadn't even really met, but there you were. You honestly just hoped that you weren't liking the wrong person.
Lifting your eyebrows up, Peter finally realized that you were returning his gaze. ❝Sorry, it's just that you always yawn before class ends andーI'll stop talking now because you must think I'm a stalker.❞
You shook your head, returning the amused smile. ❝it's alright, at least you don't stare at me during the entire class like Flash.❞
❝True, but, uh, you're really pretty so I see why people like you.❞ Peter shrugged. His attention quickly went back to retracing the doodles on the lab table.
❝Yeah right, Parker.❞ You lightly punched his shoulder, not believing a word he was saying. However, you went silent when you realized that the dark blotch on your knuckle had faded for a split second. Your smile flattened, turning towards Peter to see if what you saw was reality.
Of course, he had no idea what was going on. He was more invested in the physics pun section of the video rather than the potential meeting of soulmates. Needing to get his attention back, you tapped on his shoulder.
You met his brown eyes, nerves igniting in your veins once again. ❝I know this is going to sound a little weird, but I need you to take off your jacket. Please.❞
He didn't hesitate to shrug his jacket off, it slowly falling to the ground with a little swoosh. Peter watched as you connected your knuckles to his arm, eyes widening when the color faded from his arm, too.
❝Oh my God!❞ he yelled, earning shushes from numerous kids, despite five minutes only being left until the end of class. Leaning in towards you, he started to quietly talk. ❝We're soulmates. We're soulmates and have been sitting next to each other for ages, this is insane. You knowー❞
You held up a finger to his lips, trying to stop him from rambling. If you didn't, his words would keep going on for ages. Looking down at your hand in disbelief, you noticed that your newly-earned splotch has disappeared for good. A small pout fell on your lips, somewhat sad that it wasn't there longer, but utterly glad that you finally had met your soulmate.
Your hand immediately went up to your necklace, feeling then intricate details that spelled out 'peter and y/n.' It was a beautiful thing, really.
❝We're soulmates!❞ you jumped up from your seat on the stool, earning everyone's attention. Your arms wrapped around his shoulders, and the audible awes echoed through the science lab.
Peter happily returned the embrace, pulling you even further into his arms. ❝Are you up for a first date?❞
You laughed, nodding your head and grabbing your backpack from the ground. Almost immediately, he took your hand in his, leading you out of the classroom and towards the school's parking lot. He already loved you, and you loved him already.
