When people turn 16 they get the last name of their soulmate. Then when they turn 18 they get the first name unless they are already close to their soulmate. And there is never a specific gender either. So you never actually know.

When Peter turned 16 he got a sharp pain on his wrist that lasted a few seconds. When he looked down he saw the name Romanoff. He thought for a moment 'I don't know anyone with that last name.' He shook his head to get the thought out of his head.
Today he was going to spend his birthday with Mr. Stark. He was going to where long sleeves so Mr. Stark won't try to hunt down this person.
Time skip
Peter gets to the Tower and pulls at his sleeves. He doesn't want him to find out. He takes a deep breath a walks in.
