Part 8: Taking a moment...

Note: Short chapter... Really sorry.

The Midtown high's rooftop: Some time at night

Peter's been sitting here for as long as he could, staring at nothing, not caring how much time has filed by. He hears the sound of someone coming down the ladder and turn to see it's MJ and Ned.

None of them say anything as they embrace Peter in a comforting hug. Peter breaks down, his face is already red from the bruises and tears that he's already shed. It feels like it lasts for so long as Peter lets out all of his grief when he realizes the tingle in his head, something's not right.

"Peter..." MJ whispers to him. "There's... There's some people here... who..."

Peter cuts her off by webbing the direction his special sense of coming from. It hits a blond dude a couple feet next to them who clearly thought he was well hidden in the shadows. "Ow...." The guy mutters in a slight irritation. Peter stands up to him and slowly walks up. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Don't shoot, or web. We're all.... amigos here." The guy blurts out, raising his right arm in defense.

Peter thinks of what to say next, but then he hears something farther up, he looks and sees two other people higher up the rooftop, but he can't make them because of the shadow covering them. They hop down lower, and Peter puts up a defensive pose. "Hey. Wait, wait, whoa!" He stops them, putting up a warning finger.

The two men put up their hands and with the rooftop's light now shining down on them, he notices that one of them has a suit very similar to his own. "Sorry..." The older Peter hesitates. "About May..."

"Yeah, sorry." The Peter with the suit adds in. "I got some understanding of-"

"No." Peter cuts them off. "Please don't tell me that you know what I'm going through." He pleads. He doesn't need to hear this pitch.

"Okay..." The middle Peter sighs, not saying another word. Meanwhile, the blond guy takes the moment to secreting cover himself in black goo, and rib the webs off of him, turning himself back to normal after.

"She's gone.... And it's all my fault." Peter bitterly mourns. "She died for nothing. And he ran off to join the Goblin."

"He?" MJ quotes. Peter then turns to her rageful.

"Y/N, MJ!" He exclaims. Both MJ and Ned are shocked by the revelation. "He chose that man over May, over us! I thought we were his friends..." Peter pauses, barely keeping his temper together. "I was wrong. But now I'm gonna do what I should've done in the first place." He then reaches for the box.

The Older Peter shakes his head. "Peter..."

"Please don't." He cuts him off again. "You don't belong either of you, so I'm sending you home." The younger Peter tells his other versions. "Guys like him are from your worlds, right? So you deal with it. If they die, if you kill them, that's on you." The blond guy awkwardly shifts around, trying his best not make a stupid joke. "It's not my problem, I don't care anymore. I'm done." Peter concludes.

"I'm really sorry I dragged that I dragged you into this, but you have to go home now. Good luck." Peter reaches for the box, but MJ pulls it away. Peter gives her a look, but MJ wordlessly pleads for him to hear his counterpart's case.

"My Uncle Ben was killed." The older Peter abruptly lets out. "It was my fault."

"I lost..." The Middle Peter begins, but he immediately feels tears rising up, so breaths in, trying not to get too emotional. "I lost Gwen... my um.... she was my MJ." He hints, Peter glances at his own girlfriend. "I couldn't save her. I won't be able to forgive myself for that... But I carried on. Trying to, umm, tried to keep going, tried to keep being the friendly-neighborhood-Spider-Man, because I knew that's what she would've wanted... But Jackel..." He pauses. "At some point, I just... I stopped pulling my punches...... I got rageful.... I got bitter. I just don't want you, to end up like... like me." He finishes.

"That night... Ben died." The older Peter continues his story. "I hunted down the man who I thought did it. I wanted him dead. I got what I wanted. It didn't make me better." He somberly shakes his head. "It took me a long time to... learn to get through that darkness."

"I wanna kill them. I wanna tear them apart. I still hear her voice in my head..." The young Peter stops briefly, feeling himself break down. "Even after she was hurt, after Y/N turned away from us, she said we did the right thing. She told me with great power...."

"-Comes great responsibility." The older Peter says, smiling as he recognized those words. The middle Peter looks at him surprised, but nods, getting teary-eyed again. The blond guy looks down at himself, considering it.

"Wait, what? How did you know that?" She asks them, genuinely surprised. Suddenly, Ned's phonse starts buzzing and he goes to shut it off, but after seeing who's calling, he hesitantly mouths sorry and backs way to answer it.

"Uncle Ben said it..." The middle Peter starts.

"The day he died." Older Peter finishes. Almost every Peter Parker has one. "Maybe she didn't die for nothing Peter." He hints. The Younger Peter looks at both of them for a moment considering it, before nodding. And that's when someone shouts so loud it almost scares all of them.

"Whohoo! Yeah!" Everyone but Ned turns to see the blond guy clapping approvingly at the scene he just watched. He then excitedly grabs the younger Peter's shoulder into a brief side-hug without any permission. "The gang's all back together! Now before we do anything, let's go see that burger joint I saw on the way here, and I...." He stops once he sees everyone looking at him, unamused, except maybe the older Peter. ".... I'm paying?"

With no response, the guy awkwardly looks around, now noticing Ned has put away the phone but hasn't said a word. "Dude, you okay?"

Ned turns to face them, pale as a ghost. "The Police just called.... Lola's in the hospital." He tells them, and they all go wide-eyed. "And the home is completely destroyed."

Y/N's POV:

Goblin, Electro, and I have now gone on top of one of the many rooftops of New York. Part of me feels weird how I blew up that entire building, but I do my best to mentally shrug it off. Although Electro was very disappointed that MJ and Ned had gotten away with the box, the other thing we learned has clearly excited him.

"Our Spider-Men are here!" He exclaims to the Goblin, who's currently sharpening his retractable blades. "I can now get some preemptive vengeance for myself."

"Didn't you die by a overload?" I query him. "Sounds more like an accident to me."

"Yeah, but he caused it, remember?" Max argues. "It's pretty clear who-"

"Enough." The Goblin interrupts. He looks at us with a smirk, no doubt a sinister thought has crossed his mind. "I recognize one of those Spider-Man as well..." He lets out, small multiverse out there, huh? "This bolds well for us."

"Yeah? how'd you figure that?" Electro questions him, though I've already figured that out.

"These 'Spider-Men' won't allow their poor old younger counter-part to send us to die." He says in a mockingly sad gesture. "Our time crunch has just gone up."

"But it's still there." Electro counters. "Even if they don't use that box, they're definitely making 'cures' for us."

"And then once their done with every cure that might actually work this time.." I hesitantly hint. "They would probably bring us to them once their done...."

"And then it would just be a fighting playground." Electro finishes. "Sounds fun, but I'd have to continue increasing my power for that."

"That shouldn't be too hard." I comment. I walk up next to him and we face the massive rich side of the city. "If you head to the S.T.A.R.K. Lab, then take a right, I think, you should be able to find this entire area of energy made by some type of.... a big generator or something, I don't know." I shrug at how it works, but it should be the right way.

Electro nods before patting my shoulder. "Thanks. You know, I was wonder whether or not you were gonna side with that Spider-Man." He then mentions. "I knew I had a good feeling about you!" He chuckles, and I find myself smirking at the compliment.

"Was nice meeting you too Goblin.... I guess." He says before heading to leave. "Anyway, You guys can go do your own thing."

"Hey, wait, wait. Before you go..." I stop him, Max turns to me at the edge of the rooftop. "Have any of you guys eaten since you got here?" I ask them. Goblin looks at me, and then he and Electro glance at each other, probably wondering where that came from.

"Why?" Electro prods, shrugging. It's then I slowly pull out my fifty dollar, Lee's fast food gift card. Then they just look at me skeptically.

"Seriously?"

"So that's one 'double pound', one 'buffalo chicken salad', and one 'great burrito'?" The woman on the speaker double checks like many before her.

"Yes ma'am" I confirm from inside the van. How did I get it? Uh... I borrowed it, obviously. Max rubs his goatee as Goblin continuously taps on the car window.

"Alright then, your total will be fourty-five, fifty. Thank you." She sends me off, sounding like she wants to die, wouldn't be surprised.

Anyway, finally able to eat, I was starving!
