Chapter 9

[ New York ]

Night had fallen on such a busy day in New York. The physical and magical worlds had taken a very large toll on this day. The Multiverse had spilled onto a single universe—multiple components of different universes now reside in one.

This isn't a threat to Earth—this is a threat of the Multiverse.

Five infamous villains were now on loose. They were ready to wreck the entire reality of this healing planet. For them, this was the beginning of something much bigger.

For now, they had settled just above Long Beach. It was at the coast, where transmission towers were the only sign of civilisation there. There was flowing water in the area, indicating a source coming from one of the hills.

As they reached the source of the water, they came across a large pipe with metal bars. It was an entrance to the New York sewer. Breaking the bars with ease, Osborn allowed his colleagues to enter first.

"Come on, we don't have all day!" He ushered, standing in the middle of the night in his ridiculous suit.

"We wouldn't be in a rush if we had killed the Spider-Man. None of you were satisfied enough to kill Parker, it seems." Octavius annoyingly mentioned, waiting for the others to enter.

"Nobody said that we were rushing." Dillon stated, making sure that the sewer pipes was clear.

Beck followed behind him, with Marko hesitant to enter the sewer pipes. He was being extra careful, trying to avoid in stepping into the color-ridden water.

"What, you scared?" Octavius noticed.

"No! It's not like that!" Marko argued, keeping his feet far apart from the center.

Beck glanced from the front, "I didn't take you to have mysophobia."

"Little sand-man afraid of a little water?!" Dillon mocked, making significant progress in moving forwards.

"Just get in, Marko! We don't want to spotted right away," Osborn said, joining the line as Octavius followed—the last member to enter the sewer.

They became silent, traversing through the hideous and almost swamp-like sewer. The water flowing was a different kind of colour than what you would see out of the Hudson River. Dillon was making sure that no one was going to surprise them at any corner.

And so the five villains that barely escaped the hands of the Sorcerer Supreme was looking for a new home—in New York's most unlikely place. They knew that the law was on their side—Spider-Man would be turned in before he could even explain what they were to the police. The only problem they had to worry about was Strange and the web-slinger himself.

But as they moved further, they came into a large enclosure with enough dry space to work with. It was like a small room in the sewer, with a large wall on the side which was perfect for planning.

"I'll move a little ahead forwards; see if we have any unusual visitors turning up." Dillon declared, going through the sewer tunnel a little bit further.

"Thank God." Marko placed his hands on his knees, taking a much-needed breather—for his standards.

"Jesus, aren't you still in your early-30's?" Beck taunted at.

"I will put your ass through the ground, Beck, if you don't shut the hell up."

"No need to be so sour, Marko."

"Silence." Octavius ominously instilled. His tentacles guided him to the wall, putting him right in front of it. "Here; we can plan here."

"What are you planning, Octavius?" Beck questioned, looking up at the eight-limbed human.

Octavius glanced at Osborn, who was leaning against the wall, "This isn't the Earth we belong from, is it?"

"No, it isn't." Osborn growled, standing fiercely. "This is a new dimension—a new universe! All of us are from different universes! Their tech here is something we dreamt of in our worlds. To them, it's just a slice of the meat in the bigger picture. With our genius, we can possibly play with the animal."

"You're suggesting Multiversal-travel?" Octavius sounded intrigued. "Do you believe they have the tech for such extravaganza?"

"I've heard that they've done some very interesting work in this universe—time travel."

"Time travel?" Beck was fascinated with such sorcery.

"How is it possible?" Octavius couldn't fathom the thought.

"Two words: Tony Stark." Osborn gestured. "He used the Quantum Realm and a time GPS in order to target a specific time in which they will come out. It was that simple."

"Of course—the Quantum Realm." Octavius chuckled to his ignorance. "How did I not think of that."

"Quan-time, what now?" Dillon tried to continue their conversation as he stood beside Beck. "What's all the fussle about time travel going on?"

"—The important thing is..." Osborn skipped all the theatrics and got everyone's attention. "If we manipulate the Quantum Realm, there's a possibility that we can open the Multiverse at an eye's level."

"You're suggesting that we enlarge the Quantum Realm instead of us shrinking us. How do we find such tech?"

"The Avengers!" Osborn proclaimed.

"These names are getting ridiculous." Dillon stated, sighing.

"You tell me." Beck added.

"The Avengers are the people who went back in time to supposedly change the world's future. If we steal the tech from them, we'll be able to create a portal which will open the Multiverse to the naked eye!"

"We're talking about some very advance tech. We're going to need an energy supply that could—" Octavius was explaining until he was cut off by Osborn.

"—An arc reactor, Octavius. It's one of this world's most powerful objects. It can power almost anything."

"Hm..." Octavius thought to himself, "Well, I'll be the judge of that."

"And so..." Osborn smiled, looking at the rest of them. "We have a plan. We steal the Avengers tech and open up the Multiverse for every human on this Earth to see."

"We're going to need materials." Octavius mentioned, scratching the wall with his tentacles to write. "And Connors! He'll know how to traverse the Multiverse without tearing ourselves through."

"I'll handle Connors." Marko volunteered.

"Don't be a dumbass," Beck called him out. "You certainly won't handle that Sorcerer. He's mine!"

"One more word and I'll—" Marko was forming a wrecking ball before being stopped by one of Octavius' tentacles.

He talked as he continued writing. "You heard what he said, Marko. He'll handle the magician. You handle the materials. It's more efficient that way."

Marko paused, looking at Octavius with irritation. He backed off Beck, walking into one of the sewer tunnels by himself. Beck was amused, grinning as he saw the sight. Dillon was not satisfied, however. He was looking at Osborn with intent.

"So, what if we open the Multiverse? Then what? We just make a little global science project? New Fourth of July?" Dillon spoke.

"No, Mr. Dillon. You could go to any universe you'd like that exists. Alternate timelines where different versions of you exist. Timelines where you weren't so... electric." Octavius said.

"What do you seek, Mr. Dillon? What do you want the most?"

"..." Dillon now looked serious, contemplating. "I want to kill the Spider-Man."

"Don't we all?" Octavius joined.

"Oh, trust me, Max. We all want to kill Peter Parker here. We want to watch him suffer and die miserably." Osborn meddled with his imagination. "But you're thinking small. There's more you could do than just killing someone."

"He killed me. I want my payback." Dillon stated.

"How about you, Quentin? What do you seek most?"

"It's Beck." He approached the mind-altering man. "If I had the choice, I would rule a universe—all to myself. I'd be king. No one would oppose me. I'd decide what happens and what doesn't."

"See," Osborn smiled widely, "He's a wide thinker. You should think like Mr. Beck does!"

"Yeah," Dillon still hadn't bought in, "If I had a motto, it would be: 'take one universe at a time.' I ain't in a rush, I have all the time in the world."

"That's the problem, Max." He smirked. "Spider-Man is such a minute detail to think of. With the five of us—this world is no match for us. But with Connors? That's the problem, maybe not even the Multiverse, could solve. Us six? We're unstoppable."
