Chapter 24
[ Liberty Island ]
The wind was blowing coldly that night. It was quiet and peaceful, something they didn't expect once they arrived at Liberty Island. Just like the news had been saying all these past months, there have been significant construction on the Statue of Liberty, with them adding a shield to the famous destination.
It was in honor of Steve Rogers, who had sadly been rumoured to have passed away at that time. Now, it was even more awkward that they had to be fighting there given the progress it has achieved so far. Luckily for them, it seemed like everyone had a day off and were away from the construction site.
Peter (Tom), Peter (Andrew), Peter (Tobey), and Strange all stepped on a wooden but unstable plank, as they arrived at the place where the villains had held up. The quick glimmer of MJ and Ned on the news was enough for Peter (Tom) to believe that they needed him and not them.
However, things didn't seem like they were going too well, as the helicopter from earlier that was filming the venue was no longer present. It was just the flashing of cameras on the other island that was covering the event.
Peter (Tom) and Strange were up front, looking up at the structure of the landmark to see anything different. As they scanned, Peter (Tom) had to say something in the middle of an important moment.
"Hey, I hate to bring this up but..."
"Don't—" Strange tried to stop it but it was too late.
"Captain Marvel?"
"Busy with whatever the universe has in store for her."
"Thor?"
"Moved on."
"Mr. Banner?"
"Dealing with a lawyer."
"Hawkeye?"
"Really? He has a family." Strange found it odd for him to bring up someone like Clint.
"That girl who has those red powers?"
"God knows where she is,"
"Captain America!"
"Are you kidding me? He's like 95!" Strange was now finding it absurd.
"No! I'm talking about Captain America!"
"Oh." Strange took back his reaction. "He's still dealing with an organization around the world." He then stopped him from continuing. "Look, whoever you think that will come isn't coming. It's just the four of us, and that's all we'll need."
"I'm just saying." Peter (Tom) gestured. "We could have someone like Ant-Man come in here and turn all giant."
"Yeah... Scott." Strange imagined but quickly snapped out of it. "N—no... he has a family too. Can we just deal with this? We're the only people in New York that could deal with this."
"It's a suggestion." Peter (Tom) noted once again.
"Yeah, well—it's a bad one."
Peter (Andrew) and Peter (Tobey) stared at the Statue, seeing it being reconstructed. It was a first for any of them to see. Still, they needed to be vigilant about their surroundings.
"Where do you think they can hide a device that could potentially open the Multiverse?" Peter (Andrew) spoke, seeing no abnormalities around.
"You would think it's out in the open." Peter (Tobey) agreed.
"What are they even using to power Electro? He won't be enough to power this whole thing." Peter (Andrew) tried to spot something away from the structure. "They must have a lot under their sleeves."
"We'll deal with it." Peter (Tobey) shared a glance, "We always do."
Peter (Andrew) started to hear things in his ears. It was something out of his peripheral vision, as the area around him was quiet. The cackling of electricity was worrying him, thinking it was Electro. However, this wasn't the case.
Electro was uncontrolled power. This electricity he was feeling was controlled. It was muffled, which threw him off even more. Until some time, he had solved the mystery by connecting one with another.
Peter (Andrew) showed a finger pointing to the river, "They have a cable connected from beneath the statue and the city's sewer."
"Are they seriously trying to do that again? Will he able to sustain it?" Peter (Tobey) figured in his head as he waited for his answer.
"Do you want to find out?"
}{ }{ }{ }{ }{
"—PETER!"
That cry alone attracted the attention of all four heroes as they faced the heights above them. Standing on the scaffolding of the left shoulder of the Statue of Liberty was MJ, her face screaming of fear and anxiousness. Beside her was Ned, who was keeping his eyes closed as if MJ's call for help was a death wish.
—And a death wish it was.
A slimy tail came into sight as it treaded behind the heads of the teenagers. The figure was yet to be seen, hiding behind the planks of the construction site.
Peter (Tom) had enough of these games. He stepped forward, trying to get a better sight. For this, he removed his mask. He didn't care if the media were going to catch his face—it was not important. What was important to him at that moment was MJ and Ned's safety.
"Hands off them, Lizard!" Peter (Tom) forcefully ordered, parkouring his way nearer to them.
He regretted it immediately after, as the sound of mechanical tentacles connecting with the skull of the statue echoed throughout the island. Octavius, with the look of sorrow and despair, lowered himself to the same level as MJ and Ned. As he settled, the Lizard came out of his hiding and positioned himself beside Ned.
"We don't need the children," Octavius proclaimed, staring at Peter (Tom) this whole time. "We need you."
Strange slightly went forward, but was seen by the Lizard.
"Come any closer wizard, and we'll throw one of these children off." The Lizard warned, who garnered a concerned look from Octavius.
Peter (Andrew) and Peter (Tobey) shielded Strange, who stood back behind them.
"You know what to do, mister." Peter (Andrew) told Strange under his mask.
Peter (Tom) inched ever closer to the pair of villains, with MJ and Ned trying their best not to move. They were in pain, that was as much as Peter (Tom) could tell. He put them in this position. Everything was his fault, so he was going to put it in his own hands.
"I'll give myself, but you have to let those two go. That's the only way." Peter (Tom) bargained, showing a face of sureness towards them.
"You'd be a—" The Lizard was about to start something until he was cut off by Octavius.
"Silence." Octavius nodded, "You have a deal."
His tentacles pushed MJ and Ned towards Peter (Tom), much to the chagrin of the Lizard. His skin radiated a different shade of green, expressing anger through his appearance rather than words.
At an instant, a helicopter came out of nowhere and flashed a large light towards the statue.
—But at that moment, Peter (Tom) wasn't thinking about any of that.
"MJ—"
—After that, Peter (Tom) realized MJ wasn't thinking about any of that too.
In a few seconds, MJ separated the kiss and took in a few breaths inches away from Peter's (Tom) lips.
"I hate you..." MJ exhaled in succeeding patterns. "You know that..."
"I'm sorry. You shouldn't have been a part of this." Peter (Tom) shared his deepest feelings, even at a time like this. "You've done so much... so I need you to do one last thing—get out of here. You and Ned—run."
"I—I can't—"
"You can, and you will." Peter (Tom) let go of her hands and turned her to Peter (Tobey) who helped her down.
MJ looked at Peter (Tom) with a feeling that she needed to do more. This couldn't be where she stopped. She knew she could still do more.
Ned placed his hand on Peter's (Tom) shoulder and stared at him sincerely. Peter (Tom) himself found a hard time looking back at his old time friend that he had put under so much pain the last time they were together.
"I forgive you, alright?" Ned assured, giving him a smile he hadn't seen in a while; but one he truly appreciated. "Go and be Spider-Man."
"I 'gotcha." Peter (Tom) returned the gesture and let Peter (Andrew) handle his situation.
Peter (Tobey) and Peter (Andrew) helped MJ and Ned traverse the dangerous scaffolding to the same platform they were with Strange. They got near to the Master of the Mystic Arts and greeted him.
"Didn't expect to see you here, sir." MJ announced.
"It's a business thing." He straightened his fingers but his sling ring wasn't activating. He shared peeks with Peter (Tobey) and Peter (Andrew) who noticed the situation. "Unless, not..."
Meanwhile, Peter (Tom) was now nearing Octavius and the Lizard on their platform. He was unmasked, something that the two superior people were not noticing. They just let him walk to them.
But he wasn't going to give in easily. Something was off, and he was waiting for the signal that it was.
Octavius was eye-balling the view behind Strange and the Spider-Men. He was glancing at the Spider-Men as well, which was becoming suspicious. Peter (Andrew) zeroed in, feeling something in the air.
}{ }{ }{ }{ }{
Peter's (Andrew) flicked his wrist over Strange's shoulder and shot his web—hitting an invisible object. The figure uncloaked himself as Mysterio, hovering over the three villains behind.
By instinct, Peter (Tom) jumped off the platform.
—Until a sharp object nearly pierced his skull.
It barely missed and scraped a bit of his ear, dropping blood on the floor. He swung all over the scaffolding and landed on the statue's hand, far away from the two villains.
"Take the elevator!" Peter (Tobey) shouted at MJ and Ned, who moved to a safer place in the scaffolding.
Strange attacked Mysterio, grabbing him by his shoulder in the air. They were about to strike one another, but Strange forcefully threw Mysterio at an angle that suddenly consumed him by mirrors. Strange floated to a mirror portal; but he had a message for Peter (Andrew) and Peter (Tobey).
"For the love of God, stop the damn machine!" Strange annoyingly stated, entering the Mirror Dimension.
Near the top of the statue, Octavius was climbing up with a vile. The ear shot they got of Peter (Tom) dropped the necessary amount of blood that they needed for the whole process. Now, Octavius needed to pour the blood into the machine and they would get the show on the road.
The Lizard lowered himself closer to the two Peter's, who were now joined by Peter (Tom) on their left flank. They scanned the area to plan their impromptu plan.
Peter (Tobey) pointed to the sky, "Device's at the topmost part. Ock has control over that. What's the play?"
"He needed that blood, didn't he?" Peter (Tom) became worried, wiping the blood of his ear.
"That's what's going to get the machine going." Peter (Andrew) confirmed, probing for any of Lizard's attacks.
"I'll take Octavius and get that blood vile before it completely gets embedded into that machine." He looked over to his two variants. "You guys can hold off the Lizard-thingy?"
"Uh..." Peter (Andrew) shook his head while he peeked over the edge. "It's not going to be that easy."
"—You've got to be kidding me." Peter (Tobey) swore, seeing the situation unfolding.
Peter (Tom) continued to stare at Octavius manipulating the device. "I really need you guys to keep them busy."
"I'll take the Sandman." Peter (Andrew) stepped forward, as the sandstorm continued growing.
"I'll keep Connors at bay." Peter (Tobey) tapped Peter (Tom) on the shoulders. "The key is to make Otto be Otto, got it?"
"On it." Peter (Tom) leaped to the structure, using his web crawl to manoeuvre around the statue.
Seeing Peter (Tom) begin his ascent to Octavius, the Lizard became concerned. He searched for a structurally-sound surface to scale on. The noise of running footsteps going in his direction alerted him, turning to the source of the sound.
—Out of nowhere, he was tackled off the platform.
Peter (Tobey) held him firmly and threw him into the pile of scaffolding levels below where they were. As this was unfolding, the Sandman had reached the level of Peter (Andrew)—their size incomparable.
The heap of sand around the area were now starting to form a face. It was one large creature that was made of sand—presumably the Sandman. Still, Peter (Andrew) found no fear in this encounter.
"Um, excuse me, sir!" Peter (Andrew) pointed away from Liberty Island. "I believe the beach is that way!"
The Sandman grunted, throwing a large punch of sand heading towards Peter's (Andrew) way. Since it was solid, his webs managed to stick onto it as he lifted it away from the platform. The huge hand hit the statue, dissolving parts of his sands.
"Got a mean punch, Marko!" Peter (Andrew) quipped. "You're still 'gonna need to work on that—"
Peter (Andrew) was sent off the platform after getting a jab from the Sandman's massive fist. Luckily, Peter (Tom) managed to dodge this and continue reaching towards Doctor Octopus.
Running along the body of the statue, he noticed something in the sky. There were surges of light in the sky. There was a large power source coming from above the night clouds.
It was—
"Oh, crap—!"
Peter (Tom) was sent back by a bolt of lightning out of nowhere. He stuck to the construction crane just beside the statue's head to regain some consciousness, before lightning began striking the side of him. Opening his eyes widely, a figure formed out of the supernatural element.
"Ah..." Electro smiled. "My old friend Spider-Man."
"Look, Dillon, I got a meeting with the Doctor up there! I kind of don't want to be late." Peter (Tom) joked, loading his web shooters.
"It's alright... we got all the time in the world!"
Electro threw large blasts of electricity at Peter (Tom), who began avoiding his attacks. He brought him along the entirety of the construction crane—successfully swerving away from Electro but straying further away from his goal which was stopping Octavius.
"Stay still!" Electro ordered, his power source glowing powerful blue.
"I think you're missing the whole point of this!" Spider-Man (Tom) spoke, barely missing the bolts of electricity that was centimetres from his face.
"Shut up, Parker! I've been waiting for this ever since you left me for the world." Electro stopped, which Peter (Tom) followed to listen. "And now, you're going to pay for it."
His entire body was covered in lightning, as he was fully charging up. Peter's (Tom) eyes grew large, seeing the pure energy that was forming in front of him. Just before it was too late, he realized the need to move, jumping off the construction crane that was nearly cut off by the strong bolt of electricity.
Above them, the shield that was up for display nudged ever so slightly, the metal ringing throughout the island.
Peter (Tom) landed on the statue's arm, looking out for Electro who disappeared. Staring below him, Sandman was still battling Peter (Andrew) while the Lizard and Peter (Tobey) were nowhere to be seen.
Except in his earpiece, "You're going to have to stop pressuring that shield! One more blast and it falls apart!" Peter (Tobey) advised, as Peter (Tom) heard the roar of the Lizard on his end.
"I'm going to need some help; I won't be getting up there with Electro stopping me." Peter (Tom) notified. "You up for it?"
"Give me the signal!"
Electro reappeared behind Peter (Tom), hovering with his menacing look. He was in his human form, with electricity surging in his hands.
"Had enough of me already?" Electro stated.
"I was actually warming up to you." Peter (Tom) jerked his wrist to the direction of Electro and shot a electricity-resistant web at his face. It hit his face as he jumped off the hand. "On my signal!"
Peter (Tom) swung around the statue, finding the perfect angle. Electro started teleporting closer and closer to Peter (Tom), reaching out for his back. Just before Electro could touch him, Peter (Tom) shouted.
"Take it!"
—Around the corner, Peter (Tobey) clotheslined Electro.
Peter (Tobey) and Electro fell to a platform below. They both took time to get up, feeling the impact of their punches swell in their body. They faced off, with Peter (Tobey) knowing full well he was at a disadvantage.
Switching places with Peter (Tobey), Peter (Tom) had locked on with the Lizard. Peter (Tom) landed on the statue's upper chest, while the Lizard was only at it's lower. Being a mobile creature, the Lizard began its chase after Spider-Man (Tom).
It was an intense one, as Peter (Tom) tried to go through tight scaffolding that the Lizard easily destroyed. Once he sped up, the Lizard did to. However, he didn't realize how big of a mistake it was once he saw the reptile chasing after him with intense speed.
"PETER PARKER! HOW I WAITED FOR THIS!" The Lizard insanely declared as he nearly caught up.
"I'm going to need a switch!" Peter (Tom) cried out, running near the statue's neck. "Anyone?!"
"On three!" Peter (Andrew) responded.
"I don't have time to cou—!"
"One!"
"Whatever you're doing, do it no—!"
"THREE!" Peter (Andrew) jumped over the Lizard and pulled him downwards.
Peter (Tom) got on the statue's neck and used it as a jumping board as he leapt towards the giant creature that was Sandman. What he didn't know was that the Sandman could have multiple limbs as it suddenly grew an arm and swatted him downwards.
He landed near Libertas' waist—where most of the scaffolding was located. He grunted, feeling the pain of his entire body weigh him down. It was so bad that he didn't notice the two teenagers calling his name to the side.
"Peter!" MJ called out.
"Oh, hey MJ." Peter (Tom) rubbed the pain off his head. "Hey, Ned. What are you two still doing here?"
"We're still trying to get out of here!" MJ said as if it wasn't the most obvious thing at that moment. "Are you okay?!"
"I—I'm fine!" Peter (Tom) pointed at MJ. "Ned, keep her safe! You too, MJ, keep Ned safe!"
They both shouted at him, "What do you think we're been trying to do?!"
Peter (Tom) got swept by his feet by the Sandman and was carried upwards. MJ and Ned leaned over the railing and looked to him.
"We need to do something." MJ determined.
"But they said to—"
"We need to help him, Ned. I need to—"
"We'll get off this thing first, then we help him, alright?"
MJ bit her lip, looking back up as Peter (Tom) was carried carelessly by Sandman. Just above them was Peter (Tobey) and Electro fighting it out. It was extremely obvious that Peter (Tobey) was struggling to do anything.
"We're not going to get anywhere if we don't reach Octavius!" Peter (Andrew) noted, fending off the Lizard.
"What do you plan on doing then?! I'm preoccupied!" Peter (Tobey) replied.
"Kid! Do you copy, kid?!"
...
Peter (Tobey) glanced to the view beside him and saw Peter (Tom) being dragged by the Sandman. He knew he had to do something quick, because nothing was stopping the machine from opening.
"You still dealing with Connors?" Peter (Tobey) checked, as he dodged Electro's advances.
"Why? You plan on doing something?" Peter (Andrew) was now taking in any suggestions. "What's with Marko?"
"He's currently not letting me go." Peter (Tom) updated. "I'm not going to reach Octavius in time!"
"I'm gunning for it!" Peter (Tobey) announced, jumping off the platform and quickly webbing his way upwards.
Electro was hot in pursuit, teleporting to wherever Peter (Tobey) was moments before he moved. Any slip-up would lead to a deadly electrocution; even though his thoughts were fixated on Octavius' progress on the device.
"You need some help?!" Peter (Andrew) offered.
"Well, get ready to surprise him." Peter (Tobey) made him assure, as he clearly slowed down in front of Electro.
"Oh, I already know what's on your mind!" Peter (Andrew) laughed.
Electro was starting to teleport inches away from where Spider-Man (Tobey) was, feeling all the power he could unleash at that moment. Seeing as though he was slowing down, he had the urge to release it all. Charging up, he aimed right at Peter (Tobey).
Electro muttered, "Out go the ligh—"
"GO FOR IT!"
—As the electricity was released, Peter (Andrew) jumped out of nowhere as the Lizard was right on his tail.
The electricity punctured the Lizard, sending him falling to the platform below. Peter (Andrew) shot a web at Electro, bringing him along for their free fall downwards. With that opportunity, Peter (Tobey) managed to slip past their defense and reached Octavius at the top.
He was hard at work, only focused on the device that was in front of him. There were still some calculations that he was performing on the spot, but he was making some good development—until Peter (Tobey) showed up.
Landing on the side of the statue's head, Octavius glimpsed at Peter (Tobey) before returning to his work; he didn't even bother attacking.
"Otto! I know you can hear me..." Peter (Tobey) expressed, as Octavius was still mindlessly working.
From the corner of his eye, there was blood being transferred around the small device—almost looking like a canister. Just by connecting a few dots, it was clear that it was Peter's (Tom) blood, and it was now being circulated. The process was nearly complete.
"You still have time, Otto! You can shut it down!" Peter (Tobey) said, reaching out. He didn't even try grabbing it with his wen, as the tentacles would surely attack. "There's still time!"
"N—no..." Octavius looked to the sky. "The real crime is not finishing what we started."
"You're right! You're absolutely right!" Peter (Tobey) knew where this was going, as he agreed wholeheartedly. "You need to come back—the scientist that I adored, Otto Octavius! Finish what you started and think of who you really are!"
"Otto..." Octavius' eyes drew downwards, contemplating what Peter (Tobey) had just said. "Otto Octavius... renowned scientist..."
"No... more than that... a good person."
A laugh.
"—HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"
}{ }{ }{ }{ }{
With his raw strength, Peter (Tobey) shot a web at the shield just below them and pulled as hard as he could. As it was threading like a string, it quickly rolled over and shielded them from the bombs released by the Green Goblin.
As some managed to hit the side of the statue's head, Peter (Tobey) fell off, trying to control himself as the entire scaffolding began crumbling down.
}{ }{ }{ }{ }{
Peter (Tom) turned upwards, seeing the destruction that was being caused followed by the sheer noise made by the glider. Some pieces started to dangerously fall to the ground—enough that it could kill someone.
Someone.
—Someone...
He noticed the cries of MJ and Ned underneath them, as the entire platform began shaking. Peter (Andrew) and Peter (Tobey) were nowhere to be seen, so it was all up to him. Just as he thought that, a loud screech echoed throughout Liberty Island.
"—NOOOOOO!!!"
Peter (Tom) broke free of the Sandman and jumped over in front of the shield. He swiftly dodged all of the debris falling on top of him to land on the floor before the shield could fall any further. Loading his web shooters, he fired continuously to its side, managing to stop it for just a second.
With that, he was holding the webs together as his hands stretched outwards; the shield merely seconds away from breaking through. It was getting heavier and heavier, and he was getting nowhere stronger.
"—AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
It was the heaviest thing he had ever held together, as he felt the pain swell all over his arms, chest, and legs. But he still held it together, even if it kills him—as long as MJ and Ned were safe.
"—AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
"HANG ON, KID!"
Peter (Tobey) raced to the back of the shield, looking for the perfect angle. Electro and the Green Goblin were still recovering from their respective attacks, buying him some time. Seeing the opening, he shot webs with both his hands and began pulling it upwards.
"JUST KEEP HOLDING IT!" Peter (Tobey) shouted, grunting as he tried to pull it away.
"WHAT DO YOU THINK I'VE BEEN DOING?!" Peter (Tom) annoyingly answered, giving in all his might.
"—AH!" MJ screamed below them.
"MJ!" Peter (Tom) leaned over to try and catch a glimpse of MJ.
"PARKER, DON'T!"
Peter's (Tom) arms gave in and the shield began falling again. Luckily, Peter (Tobey) kicked the shield away, managing to scrape the outer parts of the platform as he fell onto Liberty Island.
—But it still didn't solve the problem.
"MJ!" Ned shouted, as he grabbed onto the pole for dear life.
"WAIT, I—"
"MJ!" Peter (Tom) shouted, as he collapsed onto the platform above them. "MJ—!"
}{—}{—}{—}{—}{
"Not today!" Peter (Andrew) proclaimed, jumping off.
"HELP—!!!!!" MJ cried.
Everything muffled.
Everything in the world turned silent.
There was only two things that Peter (Andrew) felt, his gravity on Earth falling ever faster and the face of MJ—the fear of death overshadowing her eyes.
Was he going to—?
No.
Not this time.
He's not going to let it happen again.
Never again.
"—AHHHHH..."
Her inaudible scream brought him back.
His deepest regret.
His failure.
His breaking point.
His shattered image.
The first time Spider-Man was truly defeated.
—But whatever is broken, can always be fixed.
—Close.
Instinctively, Peter (Andrew) shot to the side as he grabbed onto MJ. Feeling the edge of what he pulled onto, he began to turn with MJ in his hands.
He had done it right this time.
He had redeemed her.
"OHHH!!!" MJ held Peter (Andrew) tightly as she closed her eyes. "Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap..." She repeated as she panted at the thought of what had just happened. As he slowed down, MJ whispered. "Thank you..."
"No..." Peter (Andrew) landed onto the other side of the platform and helped her back on. "Thank you."
MJ looked around to make sure it was safe—and sure enough it was. Peter (Andrew) was just standing there, physically unfazed but mentally and emotionally stunned. She tapped him on the shoulder, which garnered his attention.
"Thank you... for saving me..." MJ gave him a reassuring smile.
...
Peter (Tobey) stuck Ned's hand onto the pole as he fell, making sure he didn't fall. Along with him was Peter (Tom), who had joined him in his fall. Peter (Tom) swung upwards, meeting Ned on the same platform. He pulled him backwards, taking him away from the edge and back to safety.
"Holy shi—!" Ned stood back up and lightly punched Peter (Tom) on the side. "Thanks, man..."
"Yeah, don't mention it." Peter (Tom) didn't seem too enthusiastic, as he got on his earpiece. "Hey... pl—please tell me tha—that she's alright..."
...
"She's okay, Peter..." Peter (Andrew) acknowledged, feeling the relief himself. "She's safe."
"Oh, thank god..." Peter (Tom) muttered, getting on his two knees. "She's okay, she's okay, she's okay..." He repeated.
"MJ's safe?" Ned joined. Peter (Tom) could only nod, which was just enough for him. "Good..."
—And then a voice got on the earpiece.
"You two might want to get over here." Peter (Tobey) ordered.
Peter (Andrew) and Peter (Tom) swung up at an instant. They landed beside Peter (Tobey), who was looking up at the place where Octavius was activating the device. Through this whole time, they failed to stop them from turning the device on.
They all reunited—Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, Lizard—on the platform unscathed by the shield explosion from earlier. It was nearing—their demise.
Out of nowhere, Strange appeared just behind them. It looked like he had just gone through hell—which he probably did. Along with the five, Mysterio came out of the Mirror Dimension just beside them. He was injured, but still standing.
And now Peter's six dangerous villains were now together—their Sinister Six.
"You didn't stop the device, did you?" Strange shared his thoughts, while Peter (Tom) could only agree. "This might be the end, then."
"Did we fail?" Peter (Tobey) pondered, as Mysterio walked over the device.
As green runic circles formed on his hands, Mysterio inserted his hands into the device. With that, colorful particles was now leaking into their universe. This wasn't just any particles—this was Quantum particles.
"No. We can still stop it." Strange, now optimistic, stood in front of them. He began creating his iconic orange runes—and much like when Peter (Tom) visited the Sanctum Sanctorum for the first time—he began rotating them to send it around Liberty Island. "That should—"
—EXPLOSION.
All four of them stepped back, as the runes managed to stop the Multiverse from leaking through the entire planet. In place of it, purple fractures in the sky appeared. The three Peter's were left in shock, while Strange's fear began coming into fruition.
"It's over!" Mysterio exclaimed, walking to the edge of their platform. "This universe is now mine! All of it! Everything—it now belongs to Mysterio! For I—!"
—Stab.
Two bloody edges pierced through Mysterio's back, as the Green Goblin put his blades deeper into the wizard's body. Blood poured out of his mouth, as he looked back at his former allies. The most surprised was Octavius, who was glancing back and forth between Mysterio and the Goblin.
"Why—?" Mysterio, exasperated, said with fading breath.
"I hate tyrants." Osborn bluntly declared, laughing maniacally.
Throwing him off the edge along with the blade, Mysterio dropped to the ground of Liberty Island. Osborn peeked over with a smile, seeing that Mysterio was now dead.
—Beck was now dead.
Octavius looked at him with disgust, as Electro watched with amusement.
Slowly, loud noises came from each of the Multiversal fractures as they grew larger by the second. The Peter's didn't know what to do; but Strange did.
Strange clasped his hands together and began trying to close the Multiversal fractures; but even he knew that it would be nearly impossible. "—AHHHHHHHH!!!"
Peter (Tom) took off his mask while the other two continued watching as the universe began collapsing on itself.
"What's happening?!" Peter (Tom) asked with a worried face.
"They're starting to come through!" Strange answered, struggling to hold the spell together. "—And I can't stop them!"
—Just like that, the end had begun.
The battle for the Earth-199999 was nearing its end.
