Chapter 1: Meeting old pals

I wasn’t much of what you call a detective type. When I was recruited, then my main role was of geological interests.  I used to dig out, perform task and everything what an agent would do but formulating and deduction or shooting. Of course, I was trained in shooting and kept my M-16 gun always in my pocket but that wasn’t one of my specialities. After my recruitment at age of 22 in SBSCC, I expanded the studies of exposing plots to another factors too like determination by dust marks. It was three months after my joining when I was called by my friends. It was 23 May 2010. We had been together working as a team for a while in one mission. I was quite surprised because the council had not sent me any statement or message. So I thought that it must be friendly meeting called by my two pals Simon and Luwis. I knocked the door of house and they let me in.

‘Being good, Bethel.’ Simon asked. Simon was a man that no one can resist having him as friend. He was always so funny, clumsy in sort of way. What may seem just absurd to others by seeing his behaviour seems like spirit lifting when on dangerous quests. He was white man with dark black eyes and grizzly hair trimmed sometimes like a panda had eaten it.

‘Kind of. Kristen wasn’t much eager to date, you know. It was huge relief of get rid of her.’ I chuckled as I sat on the chair beside rounded table.

‘Ya! Some girls just kick the crap out, man. ’ Luwis said pouring gingerbeer in the glasses. I had hardly noticed any change in condition of rooms. Luwis and Simon were brothers who lived here. They mainly used to work in accessing data, stealing other nation’s secrets and protecting Britain’s interests. However stealing secrets of other was more of hobby rather than work assigned to them. The room was spectacular and from reader’s perspective it may seems like another common room in house of individual. That’s why I had not put into consideration to describe it all to you. For there is still lot of things left to discuss and I am not damn sure how much time we would have.

I took the glass and was halfway drinking it, when he Simon said ‘You know the best thing about perfect date is ‘don’t rush up. Let the feelings sink in.’ and began to drink his beer again.

‘Sounds very philosophical.’ I said.

‘So it is back to Docks for you, isn’t it?’ Luwis said filling another sip.

‘Nah! They are well to do. Besides I am rather free myself now.  So I just thought about dating….you know...to pass time.’ I sighed.

‘Really! Awesome dude. When you are free then date.’ Simon said laughing.

‘We have been thinking out lately for some fun stuff.’ Luwis said.

‘Yup! Now as we all are free, what you say about going and doing some spooky stuff.’ Simon said gnashing his teeth and winking which was mildly hilarious.

‘It seems like a nice idea’ I said smiling.

‘Very well. Then be ready by tomorrow, we would set out for Paris not by air’ they both said.

‘Paris? Why not Sweden or Switzerland?  They are much better I think.’ I said.

‘Paris is called fashion city of the world. Not just a tag or bunch-popular name.’ Simon said.

‘Still!’ I began but they cut me off.

‘’Besides there is really something awesome happening there. And you wouldn’t want to miss out that fun.’ Luwis said all of sudden.

‘I couldn’t understand what are you guys talking about.’ I said puzzled.

Have you been reading newspapers even lately, Bethel?’ Simon asked. I shook my head and they looked at each other giving glare ‘finally we got a chance to tell him something he doesn’t know already.’  This was true. I had studied about many fields and that’s why they often use to be very conspicuous while talking to me and saying any wrong fact. Simon disappeared in attic for a while and then returned with ‘England Times.’

‘Here you go.’ He said spreading it on table. The column read:

‘Strange rumours had been spread in city of Paris that something ancient is stirring inside cementry. Lord Backwater, a British ministry agent living there citied according to media sources that while he was resting peacefully in northern state of Yugoslavia when he decided to settle finally in Paris. When he bought a house on old land abandoned for probably hundred years, then he could often sense that something was making any noise. While some people believe it just to be an amusing story for news, others are clearly convinced of such lucid accounts. What could be this mystery? Different readers are forming their own fiction. If you want to share….’

‘So now we are going to chase a fiction element now. ‘I said after reading all news.

‘Hey dude. Why are you being so perceptive? This is vacation. We all deserve a break after that ‘York Ledger chase.’ Luwis said.

‘Ya! So are you coming with us or not.’ Simon asked with serious expression.

‘I think it is worth a shot.’ I said finally with a grin and then shook their hands before going out.

Keep posted for next chapter. Coming soon.
