CHAPTER 10
He hung up, took a deep breath and unlocked the stall.
Thankfully, the bathroom had emptied and no one was there to witness what a mess he was. Taehyung splashed water on his face, letting the cold water fortify him. Persisting at it tirelessly until he just couldn't get enough. After several trials, he closed the stall.
“I am sorry Erin,—'m sorry.”
He said falteringly and was so apologetic for his behaviour towards her.
Another image of Erin's shredded tears and her weeping face flashed through his mind, and repentance sluiced through him.
Dammit.
Taehyung stared at himself in the mirror. His reflection blinked back, uncertain and uneasy. He felt so remorse, only if he had paid attention to her opinion in that heated argument. This wouldn't have been their condition to encounter.
His dad's jokes and her laughter would have made it possible for a new contentment journey to live in.
His eyes expressed great regret with his decision. A great sorrow to handle. The flicker of emotions is still transparent and apparent through his eyes. The hastened eyes were such a good answer to talk about the consequences of his sorrow.
Even after all those weeping, tears still advertised in the lower eyelids of his eyes, and threatening to fall.
The gravity of his contriteness, a great regret he held, brought him to his knees again. Never in his life, had he ever cried for someone, after his dearest father's death.
He was so much devoted to her, yet made her suffer through this much grief. Deep and poignant distress flooded inside of him. He was so tired, to carry the weight of her sufferings caused, just because of him today.
“Please forgive me, Erin. I love you—you so much.”
On the other hand, the lady was already veiled with an enormous emotion of affliction and heartbreak.
Ain't it irony? How her house was once filled with enjoyment to carry on, and now the same decorated house was all occupied with deep inconsolable woe.
The beautiful stemmed glass was purely broken, and the fragmented pieces splattered all over the floor, being variegated with the wine, and splashed on the same base.
Every source of light was turned off, engulfing the blocks in darkness. As same as the grief engulfed Erin. Guilt prickled the back of Erin's neck.
She was for now standing, and the tears fell again and again, a torrential downpour strong she couldn't see past it. Erin didn't bother wiping the tears away.
She sank to the floor once again, her body shuddering with the force of her sobs. She wrapped her arms around her legs and buried her face against her knees, drowning beneath the waves of her grief. Erin was damn good at bottling up her emotions but that was the thing about bottles — there comes a point when they run out of the capacity to contain, and their contents gush forth, toppling everything and everyone in their path.
For Erin, that point was now.
For months, she'd been wracked with guilt over her last words to Taehyung before he witnessed all this— I have a child and I was a married person once.—
But there was something else.
A part of her buried deep down inside, that resented him for not investigating her before them getting feelings for each other. For gambling with their current status and passing mutuals. For not, letting her speak out, to stand in the matter. Maybe, if she'd fought for herself, he would've tried harder to stay.
Erin squeezed her eyes shut and tried to calm her sobs. She hated crying in front of anyone. She could count the number of times she'd done so on one hand, and four out of the five it had been because of the man who just left.
Only if that bastard never had entered my life.
Wreck you, well that's what I am going to do, but this time, more painful.
Soon, she craned her neck, only to get him at her sight. She watched him closely like she expected Taehyung to arrive once more any second.
Acid sloshed in Erin's stomach. She had a feeling she knew where this was going.
There was he, her Taehyung, her man.
But this Taehyung looked so different to stare at. How messy he was right now.
Earlier, he looked so ravishing and this time, it was hard to say if he came to justify himself or to listen to her.
Nevertheless, he stepped ahead and made his way to that convoluted lady. Not so long, he was found to be standing beside her, whereas she never matched her gaze with his.
Taehyung slid onto the floor beside her and wrapped both arms around her, holding her close. The erratic thump of his heart and the shivers in his body matched hers. He was both her storm and her shelter from the hurricane.
“I am here Erin-ah, and I am so sorry.”
He stroked her back, and it felt so safe, so familiar, she cried harder because she couldn't bear the thought of losing him, this heaven.
“I also regret the same—same Taehyung. I should have told a—about this earlier.”
Erin raised her head and wiped her face with the back of her hand. She must look like a mess, all teary-eyed and red-nosed,
but she could care less.
Taehyung's brows dipped in remorse, to make this fragile item this vulnerable.
“It's alright, I was on the wrong side as well, only —only if I would have listened to you more.”
She hugged him more tightly and entangled him in her warmth, which he had been craving for so long.
An evident gulp could be heard from his side.
“How can I hurt someone so close to my heart, love?”
He swore softly, as if not to hurt her anymore.
Something glued Erin in her place. She was flabbergasted. Was he somewhat of giving her a proposal or what?
“Please go on,” she said dully.
Taehyung's nostrils flared as his features tightened with heartbreak, revealing an undeniable love for her. Erin's face displayed nothing but shock. This time, she slumped next to him and firmly wrapped her arm around his shoulder. Taehyung's head bowed, the secrets they'd laid bare soaked into the walls, the floor, and Erin's very bones. There's been so much information to carry, and all were so crystal clear with their eyes to deliver.
“How do I tell oceans, that I drown in your eyes as well?.... Yes, I love you Erin Müller, I fuckin' love you so much.”
He emphasized delightfully.
