The next time something of note happened was the day before the first Quidditch match.

Percy and Annabeth had managed to make themselves a pretty regular pair for Harry and his friends to be around. The whole thing was a lot easier than they were thinking it would be, if they were being honest.

The couple and the trio had taken to being outside around a fire Hermione had summoned. Three of them present could make said fire, Hermione, Annabeth, and Percy, so they had started taking turns to cast the spell.

Snape walked out of the school and was walking towards their direction. Percy tapped Hermione's arm and the girl hurried to put it away. When Snape took Harry's book, he seemed to finally realize Percy and Annabeth were there.

The teacher blinked, never losing his scowl.

"Professor." Percy said, a frown on his lips and disappointment in his eyes. He knew Snape was a prick, but come on.

"Jackson." Snape growled out before storming off. No matter what Snape did, he always seemed to have a bit more tolerance with Percy than any of the others. Excluding any Slytherin that is, Snape still favored them above all.

Harry talked about the man's limp, the others brushing it off. Though Percy and Annabeth glanced at each other. They had already made note of that, and now Harry noticed it too.

When they split for the night, Annabeth gave Percy her cap so he could take a turn watching over the trio. They had established a switching pattern for who watched after them every night. They didn't watch the whole night, usually only until eleven-due to the younger kids knowing they should wait until dark to do anything, but not having enough common sense to wait any longer than just past curfew.

Though today Harry left their Common Room before bedtime, murmuring to himself about getting his book back, and how unfair Snape was.

When he got to the staffroom door, Percy finally took off the cap. He walked around the corner as Harry was about to knock on the door. Percy stopped, blinked, and made a show of looking up from the floor like he was lost in thought. "Oh! Hey, Harry. What's up?" He strolled up to him, grinning the whole time.

It wasn't lost on Percy how similar he looked to Harry. They both had black, unruly hair and green eyes. Though, Percy's hair was straighter, only falling halfway down his forehead, and looked like he had just ran his fingers through it too much. Harry's was wavy, and grew out to his eyebrows, and was messy in a it-needed-brushed way. Plus Harry's eyes were emeralds compared to Percy's sea-colored ones.

Then there was the fact that Percy, reduced to his eleven year-old body, had a slight tan where as Harry was as pale as Nico.

"I was just getting my book from Snape." Harry said, shrugging. "Well, trying to anyways, no one's answering." He sighed and waved a hand at the door. "What about you? I thought you were going to bed."

"Yeah, I was, but then I remembered a question I had for Snape over the homework." A total lie, one Harry could have seen right through if he really thought about it. Harry had been there when Percy finished his homework for the class, they were all together in the library. But . . . Percy knew Harry wouldn't question it, the boy took everything at face value and never dug any deeper.

It was a trait Percy would work on fixing.

"Oh, okay then." Harry smiled faintly and went to knock again.

No answer.

He sighed, glanced at Percy with a 'I give up' look, and opened the door. Percy had moved to stand behind Harry by that time, and when he saw Filch helping Snape patch up his leg, he shoved the door closed.

They hadn't even noticed them, Percy had been very quick in taking action and made sure to make as little noise as possible. "Harry, what are you thinking?" He asked.

It hadn't taken long for the demigods to figure out the Boy Who Lived.

He had trust issues, anger issues, and probably a lot more mental health problems. So he would jump to conclusions very easily. About people and situations.

Percy needed to talk this through with him before the boy tried to act on anything. To mitigate any damage.

"Sn-Snape . . . Dog . . . He let that troll in!" Harry hissed as Percy was pulling him away from the room and into an alcove.

"Harry, let's think this through." Percy said calmly. "First, what dog?" He couldn't act like he knew everything, because Harry didn't think he did.

"There's a room with a giant three-headed dog in it. It's guarding some sort of hatch. Hermione, Ron, and I found it awhile ago when Malfoy set us up." Harry murmured, trying to wrap his head around what he had just seen.

"Okay, so let's think this through." Percy placed his hands on Harry's shoulders, looking him in his eyes. "Snape was talking to Filch about it, meaning Filch knew what happened. Filch may hate children but he loves Hogwarts. I do not think the two of them are in any sort of plan to do anything."

Harry blinked, and started to shake his head while opening his mouth to talk.

"No," Percy cut him off. "Think about it. You think Snape used the troll as a diversion? He walked out with all the other teachers, what if they sent him to make sure no one else was using it as a like that? He was in the Hall the whole time, so was Filch, neither one of them could have let the troll in. And he knew the dog was there, he didn't act surprised to have seen the dog, just annoyed he got bit. Think about it." He rationalized with the younger boy, trying to push whatever thoughts had taken over in Harry's panic out of the boy's head.

"B-but S-Snape-"

"Is a prick, a major jerk, but has not done anything to say he has anything against Hogwarts. You trust Dumbledore right?" Harry nodded, and Percy felt wrong to use the boy's blind faith in the man like this. "Then trust the fact that Snape had been here for all these years and nothing has ever happened. If you think something is up, we can talk about it together and come up with some sort of plan."

"Y-yeah . . . okay."

"Good." Percy smiled at him and started leading the boy back to Gryffindor Tower. He dropped him off and made a note to talk to Annabeth in the morning about it.

The next morning he and Annabeth talked about it, being the first two up-like always. There wasn't a rule against sitting with the other houses, so they took advantage of that and sat with Harry when he came in.

His friends were trying to get him to eat, and their attempts were quite bad.

"Harry." Percy said, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. "Eat, it might not feel the best right now, but trust me you'll be thankful you ate something later." Harry nodded before trying to eat something. Annabeth squeezed Percy's hand and nodded at him with a smile.

When the game started the demigods sat with Hermione and Ron to cheer Harry on.

And when Harry started to flop around like a fish, Percy scanned the teachers and felt his stomach drop when he saw what was happening. "You guys stay here, I got this." There was a meaning behind those words that went over the Gryffindor's heads but Annabeth signaled she got it with a subtle nod.

Annabeth kept Hermione and Ron in place as Percy crouched down and made his way to the teachers.

When Hermione pointed out Snape muttering Annabeth spoke up. "Don't worry, Percy' got this."

That's when a spark of blue flame was seen from the teachers' seats and Quirrell had to hop up and stomp out the flames, then Harry gained control and shot out to grab the Snitch.

Hermione tilted her head. "Why did he go after Quirrell? Wasn't it Snape who was doing it? Harry told us about his dog bite." Hermione muttered to Annabeth under the crowd's cheering when Harry caught the Snitch in his mouth.

"Did Harry tell you what Percy said to him?" Annabeth asked.

"Yeah, but-"

"We'll talk about it, but right now we need to go get him." Annabeth grabbed Hermione's hands and walked with her and Ron.

When she, Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Percy all sat in Hagrid's hut Ron was the first to talk.

"It was Snape." He said, going on about how he was muttering and watching Harry.

Neither Percy nor Annabeth spoke up, just sipping their tea and watching things unfold.

If they were so dead set on having Snape be the bad guy, then the demigods would just have to pull more strings from the shadows.

The only bit of information the two of them really got out of the interaction with the four others was a name.

Nicolas Flamel.
